Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord, Welcome!

Thanks for joining the Sacred Heart worshiping community as we celebrate our Eucharistic Liturgy for the Seventh Sunday of Easter. You enrich our

Liturgy by your presence and prayerful participation. May this gathering nurture your faith and lift your spirit. The Priest assignments are to be announced this weekend. Hopefully, “change” will not take place in our rectory. You will also hear of parishes being closed or restructured. In our convent, the new assignments were announced last week. Sr. Julia Ann, I.H.M., after 12 years teaching First Grade, has been reassigned to St. Martin of Tours School in Philadelphia. Sr. Julia has been a great blessing for our school and the children she has taught. Sr. Julia will be missed!!! Two I.H.M. Sisters will be moving into our convent. Sr. Rita Charles Smith has been assigned to assist in our school. Sr. Rose Caritas Batcho will be living in our convent while working as Director of Religious Education at St. Denis. Welcome Sisters!! Recently, Kathy Morley, our Youth Minister, resigned after ten years working with the high school youth in our Parish. I thank Kathy for her service to the youth of Sacred Heart. Best wishes!! In light of the need for a new Youth Minister, and after conversations with Fr. Gallagher, Pastor of St. Denis, and Fr. Cox, Pastor of Annunciation, I have decided to join them in hiring a full-time Youth Minister to work in our three parishes. Mr. Zachary Moen has accepted our offer to minister to the young people of our parishes. Zack is a recent graduate of St. Charles Borromeo Seminary College Division. He has been involved in youth ministry at St. Norbert Parish and has had numerous experiences working with young people. I welcome Zack to our community and look forward to working with him as he begins his ministry to the Catholic youth of Havertown. May the Risen Lord guide him in this new adventure. Happy June!! Be well,

God bless,

Fr. McKee

Congratulations

to all our Graduates!

STATEMENT OF ARCHBISHOP CHARLES J. CHAPUT, O.F.M.

CAP REGARDING MARRIAGE RULING IN PENNSYLVANIA Today's federal district court decision striking down Pennsylvania's Defense of Marriage Act is a mistake with long-term, negative consequences. Like many other Pennsylvanians, I hope that an appeal will be made promptly. Laws that defend the traditional definition of marriage were enacted for sound reasons-namely to defend the rights of children and contribute to the well-being of the larger community .

Marriage is more than a private arrangement between two people. It's a public commitment of love and fidelity, and it's ordered not just to companionship but to creating and rearing new life. This is why every child deserves a mother and a father in a loving marriage, and the child is the fruit of that love.

All men and women are formed in the image of God and deserve our respect. But attempts to redefine the nature of marriage, no matter how well intentioned, damage a cornerstone of our human interaction and ultimately work against human dignity itself.

I also fully support and endorse the statement issued earlier today by the Pennsylvania Catholic Conference on this issue. You can read the full text of that document here http://www.pacatholic.org/statement-todays-marriage-ruling/.

Mary Mother of Captives - A support group for those coping with a loved one in prison (State, federal, County prison, probation or parole) meets monthly (2nd Thurs) at St. Charles Borromeo Drexel Hill. Faithful, Kindle is us the fire of Your Love. Send forth Your Spirit, Lord, and we shall be created and

You shall renew the face of the earth!

INSPIRING WORDS POPE FRANCIS God has left the
