THE FEAST OF THEMOST SACRED
HEART OF JESUS - Our Parish Feast Day -
IS THISFRIDAY, JUNE 19!
If possible, please plan to JOIN US FOR
8:30AM MASSALL are WELCOME!
May the Grace of the Sacred Heart be with you; the Peace of the Sacred Heart
encompass you; the Merits of the Sacred Heart plead for you; the Love of the Sacred
Heart inflame you; the Sorrows of the Sacred Heart console you; the Zeal of the Sacred Heart animate you; the Virtues of the Sacred Heart shine forth in your word and work; and may the Joys of the Beatific
Vision be your eternal reward. Amen
Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord, Peace be with you!
Hope you and your family are well! Last weekend our Masses were open to the Parish Community for the first time since March 15. Having our usual weekend Mass schedule with everyone wearing a mask and following social distancing, the attendance was uplifting. I was happy to see smiling faces as I looked out at the congregation. I estimated the worshipers at the Masses as: 5:00pm 75 7:30am 105 9:30am 60 11:30am 50 I didn’t know what to expect, since we advised those uncomfortable with gathering in Church to stay home and watch the livestream at 9;30am. The elderly and those with health issues were also asked to stay home. As time goes on and parishioners get more comfortable with restrictions, I think more people will be joining us. Do what you need to do in staying healthy!! Next weekend, five men will be ordained and will celebrate their First Mass. They will also receive their first Priest assignment to a parish in our Archdiocese. Along with these assignments will come the naming of new Pastors and clergy changes. So next weekend, I will be announcing my successor as Pastor of Sacred Heart Church. Stay tuned!! The new Pastor will arrive on Wednesday, July 8, as I move on to St. Francis Parish in Springfield to reside in their rectory. I will be retiring as a Pastor, but not as a Priest. I will continue my ministry without the trials of being the boss!! Last Sunday, the 8th Grade Class graduated with a Mass and Awards Ceremony at 2:00pm in our Church. Many thanks go out to Mrs. Schmidt, our Teachers and School Staff in making the educational adjustments caused by Covid-19. It wasn’t the way out 8th Grade students expected to finish out their time in Sacred Heart School. They dealt with the changes in their educational experience well. May the Risen Lord bless them and guide them during their high school years. Be well! God bless,
Fr. McKee
