Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord, Welcome to Sacred Heart Church!

Happy Feast of Pentecost! I am grateful for your presence as our faith community celebrates the Church's Liturgy for Pentecost Sunday. May you be enlightened by

the words of Sacred Scripture and nourished through the Holy Eucharist. Often referred to as the "birthday" of the Church, Pentecost celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit. The Acts of the Apostles gives us graphic imagery depicting the presence of the Holy Spirit. We hear of a "strong driving wind" and "tongues as of fire." We are told the disciples, gathered in one place, were filled with the Holy Spirit. The Spirit enabled them to proclaim the mighty acts of God. Our openness to the Spirit enables us to use our gifts in service to others. As Paul reminds us today, the Spirit is manifested when our gifts benefit others. It is through the Holy Spirit we find peace in forgiveness. It is through the Spirit that we truly greet one another, "Peace be with you." In prayer, may we invite the Spirit of Christ into our hearts and minds. May we be instruments of the Holy Spirit in sharing our gifts. On Sunday, at our 11:30am Liturgy, our parishioners graduating from High School will be celebrated and lifted up in prayer. I congratulate them and pray that God's Spirit will guide them in their future decisions. Beginning this week, a three month process of stripping our Church floors will start. Years of wax and dirt have discolored the floors. It is a labor intensive process to reach its original shine. The investment will enhance the beauty of our Church for years to come. Your financial support enables the continual maintenance and improvements in our parish buildings. Know I am grateful.

Peace be with you! God bless,

Fr. McKee

P.S. Hope you remembered that the Summer Mass Schedule began this weekend. Thanks for making adjustments in your schedule to join us on Sundays.

Catechists and Aides for PREP There is nothing more beautiful and spiritual rewarding than sharing our Catholic faith with children and young people. Catechists from our parish gathered this past Monday to brainstorm new ways of inviting others to join us in this sacred ministry in our Church. Please prayerfully consider volunteering as a catechist, an aide, an office helper in our Parish Religious Education Program. This past year we had high school students, retired teachers, grandmothers, college students helping in our program. As Pope Francis reminds us so often…let’s go out of our comfort zones and bring others to Christ. It is God who calls. We respond: Here I am, Lord, send me! Please call Sister Kathy at (610)449-3000 or e-mail her at [email protected] Sister will gladly meet with you during the summer to help you prepare for September.
