Dear Sisters and Brothers of the Lord, Welcome to Sacred Heart Church!

I rejoice in your presence with our worshiping community as we celebrate our Eucharistic Liturgy for the 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time. We are

blessed through your prayerful participation. May the Risen Lord strengthen your faith and lift your spirit as you listen to God’s Word and share in the Bread of Life. Thanks for joining us! On Sunday, after the 12:00noon Liturgy, we begin our annual Forty Hours Devotion. Rev. Dennis Carbonaro, Pastor of Our Lady of the Assumption in Strafford, will be our Guest Homilist on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evening at 7:00pm in Church. Fr. Carbonaro is an excellent homilist and passionate about Jesus Christ. I hope you will join us for Evening Prayer on Sunday and Monday and Mass on Tuesday evening. I invite you to visit our Church during these days for quiet time and prayer. The Church will be open after the 8:30am Liturgy on Monday and Tuesday, until our evening services. May we pray for one another during these days of Eucharistic Adoration. Next Sunday, at the 12:00noon Liturgy, we will celebrate the Anointing of the Sick for our elderly and sick parishioners. This Sacrament expresses the Lord’s care for those suffering in mind, body or spirit. As a faith community, we pray for the healing and comfort of those anointed with “oil of the infirm.” If you are experiencing health issues at this time, I hope you will join us for the reception of the Sacrament of the Sick. All are welcome to join us in prayerful support for our parishioners dealing with an illness. In today’s Gospel, James and John are looking for special seats in God’s Kingdom. Their request disturbs the disciples, “they became indignant at James and John.” Jesus goes on to instruct the disciples on how they are to be servants, noting that “the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve…” We become “great” in our service to others. May we ponder the Lord’s call to be “servant.” Peace be with you! God bless,

Fr. McKee

…the words of Pope Francis Children and Grandparents

There are some things we really need to take care of: the children, and grandparents. Children, whether they are young or older, they are the strength that moves us forward. We place our hope in them. Grandparents are the living memory of the family. They passed on the faith, they transmitted the faith, to us. To look after grandparents, children, is the expression of love. The people that does not care for its children or grandparents is a people that has not future. Because it doesn’t have the strength or the memory to go forward.

Authentic Love Comes to Us from Jesus “In your journey as a family, you share so many beautiful moments: meals, rest, housework, leisure, prayer, trips and pilgrimages, and times of mutual support. … Nevertheless, if there is no love then there is no joy, and authentic love comes to us from Jesus. He offers us his word, which illuminates our path; he gives us the Bread of life which sustains us on our journey.”
