As I am sitting here writing my column for this month of Oc-

tober I look outside and notice that fall is in the air. The foli-

age is changing colors. The cool temperatures in the evenings,

nights, and mornings mean dropping water temperatures. What

that means to me is that this the start of my favorite time of the

Muskie year. “Sucker Season” Our favorite fish start to make

that move from the deep following the forage to the shallows

and they start to get the feedbag on. Using a sucker as that

extra bait during your fishing time at this time of year can pay-

off with big results with that extra catch. One that will make

the day / week. I know that feeling well. So get out there and soak those suckers.

Regarding the Chapter, I am excited about our continued direction of offering a

first class organization that is dedicated to educating our members about the Mus-

OCTOBER 10TH CHRIS TAURISANO!!

Chris has spoken at our club several times with great success. Mostly speak-

ing about Muskies, but he’s a multi species guide with many sizable Walleye to his credit. Guiding from Northern Illinois to Southern Wisconsin, he will

put you on fish. It’s not always about how many fish you caught or how big, Chris will fill you in on the latest rods, reels and technology. He always is

down to earth when he speaks. He will talk about what he has learned and what he is trying out as something new. Chris never stops learning this

humble sport of ours. Chris has fished with the likes of Hall of Famer Spence Petros and is absorbing as much information as he can.

Chris not only operates T-Bone Guide Service, but also has a outing on Lake

of the Woods with his Muskie School. You might want to ask about this. Please come out and support our locally grown Muskie guru CHRIS TAURISA-

NO. If you would like to contact Chris---

Don’t miss this great meeting! Grab a friend and come on out and join us! You’ll be glad you did! Admission is $5.00/person at the door. Hope to see

you at the meeting!

INCENTIVE PROGRAM P A G E 4

W W W . F R V M U S K I E . C O M

Our club thrives on our common interest in musky fishing and our charitable efforts. While our hope is that everyone participates and supports the club because of the intrinsic value it provides, the Board of Directors has decided to experiment with two (2) incentive programs to encourage more participation both online and at our events/meetings. The details of these programs are detailed below. Please reach out if there are ques-tions or suggestions. The programs will run until it appears they no longer provide impact into the level of participation and we reserve the right to

alter the program as necessary to make it successful.

FRV Online Participation Incentive (monthly) Goal: to increase participation of membership between meetings via our website/forum and to increase attendance at meetings Prize: 3-5 baits awarded via raffle at our monthly meetings (subject to change pending the level of participation during a given month) · Forum participation

1 ticket per 3 “quality” posts

“Quality” will be at the discretion of the Website Director and generally means the post constructively contributes to the conversation

(something more than “Nice fish” on a fishing report, lively discussion/debate is fine, but tickets will not be awarded for negativity…the point is for engaging in civil and constructive dialog)

3 tickets per fishing report posted, 5 if pictures are included, 8 if video is included

10 tickets per article that is written and posted to the website

Write a summary of an outing hosted by FRV , a fishing related story, anything you think people would be interested to read that’s applicable

to the club and our membership.

Articles should be edited within reason and ready to post, though FRV reserves the right to make minor adjustments to spelling/grammar if

necessary (significant changes will be discussed with the author before posting).

Articles will be posted at the discretion of the Website Director. Please contact the Website Director to confirm your article topic would be

considered for the website and does not duplicate something already being drafted.

Please note that you can also post comments to any article/post on the site (including this one). These will be considered participation and

will be awarded tickets similarly to what is outlined above. Comments outside of the forum currently require an admin approval before they are shown on the website. Please be patient as we review and complete the approval process.

Tickets earned will be awarded at the next club meeting and will be honored only at that meeting. You must be present to win. Anything

earned during our off months of June, July and August will be awarded in September. Please note: this is being announced 8/23/18 and we will retroactively award tickets to anyone with eligible posts 6/1/18 or later.

o Drawing for participation will be separate from the normal meeting raffles. o Board members are not eligible to participate.

FRV Volunteering Incentive Program (yearly) Goal: to increase participation/volunteering at FRV events Prize: Prize TBD, but will be a larger value

FRV event participation Tickets will be awarded for actively participating at FRV events.

Meetings – help at the door, selling raffle tickets, assisting Frank at Membership, Hugh at Merch, welcoming new members and introducing them to people, etc.

Banquet – help set up, help tear down, assist with handing out packets, etc.

Volunteer – show up at any volunteering opportunity and participate, work the booth at a show, help setup/tear down at a show, guide at a One Hope event, etc.

Entries to the drawing will be awarded based on the participation and relative effort involved.

Ensure the board member helping coordinate the event you’re at reports to the Website Director that you participated in order to ensure your entry to the drawing.

Drawing will occur at the Annual Awards and Fundraising Banquet (typically held in March).

You do NOT have to be present to win this drawing.

Board members are not eligible to participate.

FROM THE MEMBERSHIP CIRCLE…

Can you believe Summer officially ended September 21st. This Summer local-

ly was plagued with high water conditions May and June, then extreme heat

that came in July and August. But, some of the best fishing conditions are

coming with the Fall weather. They say the Fall is your best chance to catch a

45” plus Muskie. The club has a Fall trip schedule for the first weekend in No-

vember at Jackson’s Resort in St. Germain. Contact Rich Gallagher for infor-

mation or to add your name to the list of participants. It’s is a fun time and a

chance to get acquainted with fellow members. Our next monthly meeting is

October 10th at Chandler’s Chop House /Schaumburg Golf Course. If you are a new member or have not

been to a monthly meeting in a while, then make a point of coming. Here is what we offer, an open bar,

good speakers, wonderful raffles items (lures, rods, bump boards and more). Interested in eating out

before the meeting, on Wednesdays Chandlers offers a $6.00 burger and fries with a purchased drink.

Now there is no good reason not to COME! Really we need your support, so come on by! I will be at

the Membership table to assist with membership renewals and new member sign-ups.

WHO’S USING THE FRV

FORUM??

Seems like the volume of people using the

FRV website/forum has significantly declined.

We are curious as to the reason for this? If is

too difficult to navigate? Are you having is-

sues with getting a user name and password?

Seems like the chatter has really died down. Less people are posting in

general and less and less are using the fishing reports page as well.

If you haven’t surfed in for a while check us out at
