Memorial Wall at

Cabela’s!

Cabela's in Hoffman Estates is sponsoring a local visit by the traveling replica of the Vi-etnam War Memorial Wall in Washington, DC. This is a huge undertaking. The replica wall is some 250 feet long and requires 50 people to help erect it. While not requesting our help with erecting it, Cabela's is asking us to help man the display during the 4 days it will be open to the pub-lic, June 8th through June 11th. They are asking for 2 persons in shifts from 8:00AM to 8:00PM each day. Shifts would

be 2 to 4 hours each. FRV is a Sponsor and will also have a table which will require another person during these times. We consider this a very worthwhile project, even though it is not directly fishing related. Cabela's has been very good to the FRV Chapter, frequently donating major prizes and sup-port to FRV events. Cabela’s support includes a $5,000 grant, donating a $850 rod and reel we raffled off at the Muskie Show, and supporting our re-cent Awards Banquet and Fundraiser. To volunteer, please go to our website, www.frvmuskie.com where you will find the signup sheet. Dan Lamkin is coordinating this. The FRV Board would like to

see strong club support for this project. Your help is important. Also, if you have time to come see this it is a very humbling tribute to our fallen soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Instead of traveling to Wash-ington D.C. you and the family can actually see the replica right here in Hoffman Estates!

FROM THE

MEMBERSHIP

CORNER… Our monthly records indicate a small, but declining number in membership retention, which is exceed-ing new enrollments. This trend has been going on for

several months. There has also been a small decline in monthly meeting attendance. Though the decline is small it seems to be persistent. We are not sure why this is happening, but we are concerned enough to bring this to your attention and to see, with your help; how we can reverse this downward trend. Our contact with members is through monthly meetings, monthly newsletters and the website. FRV tries to book interesting and informative speakers that fall within our budget limitations. Let us know which speakers you like and give us your feedback.

Help us to help you! Where does the member come into this and how can you help? You can help in several ways: support the club by coming regularly (constraints permitting ) to monthly meetings, partake in the raffle, treat yourself to dinner and a drink when convenient. Give us suggestions on how to make the meeting more entertaining “AND” don’t forget to renew your member-ship when the time comes. Invite a friend or a neighbor to a monthly meeting. Come to a club sponsored fishing outing or volunteer to help out at one of our various events. For example, we need people several times a year to help man a booth at Cabela’s. This is a fun expe-rience and a chance to learn some new fishing facts. Join in with US to help make the FRV Chapter the best the in the Northwest Suburban area. Have a friend, neighbor or family member join the club with you! Share the fun! Best Regards!

On Saturday August 8th, 2015 the Fox Riv-er Valley Chapter and the Bartlett Pak District will hold the 37th Annual Kids Fish-ing Derby at Beaver Pond located in Bart-lett, IL off Stearns Road and Route 59. Children along with parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles all gather at Beaver Pond for a morning of fishing, family time and great prizes! This event is sponsored by Cabela’s, The Bartlett Park District and The Fox River Valley Chapter of Muskies, Inc. Prizes are awarded to anglers in age groups from 2-16 for the categories of Panfish, Bass, Catfish and Carp. They can win rods, reels, camping gear and fishing

tackle all provided courtesy of Cabela’s in Hoffman Estates! The grand prize is a kayak provided by the Bartlett Park Dis-trict. FRV is seeking participants to help as judges during the event to help meas-ure and record all fish that are caught and released during tournament hours which run from 9:00AM to 11:00AM. Registra-tion is free and opens at Beaver Pond at 8:00AM. All anglers MUST register from 8:00AM-9:00AM and then the fishing der-by begins at 9:00AM. Please help to spread the word to come and fish this event which typically draws anywhere from 300-500 children. It’s a great ½ day event that is sure to put a smile on your child’s face. If you’d like to be a judge to help measure & record fish, please sign up at www.frvmuskie.com on the forum section. Please provide your name and contact information so that we can get a hold of you!

ONE HOPE UNIT-ONE HOPE UNIT-ED OUTING ON ED OUTING ON SATURDAY JUNE SATURDAY JUNE 13TH!!13TH!!

FRV BOD Member Mike

Mark is looking for guides

to help in the June 13th

Open Water Outing at

One Hope United in Lake

Villa on Deep Lake! We

need guides and boats to

take 23 foster care chil-

dren along with their

chaperons; fishing for the

morning! For those who

have helped in the past

you know the drill. What

do you get in return? A

day you’ll remember for

the rest of your life and

the satisfaction of “paying

it forward”. Many of the-

se foster care kids have

never been in a boat, let

alone had a “father” figure

around to teach them any-

thing about the outdoors

or fishing. Since Mike

Mark will be quarterback-

ing this event please re-

spond to Mike Mark at [email protected] if you can help us this

year. Logistically if we

have 23 kids we need at

least 11 guide boats to

pull this off. We need

your help in networking

with fellow fisherman

who have boats to help fill

up the guide roster!

Check out the post in the

you can help! As always

ciated!

information is provided. All licenses/outdoor cards can

be purchased on-line now prior to the trip. Optional

permit is the Remote Area Border Crossing (RABC) which will be provided on the club website during the

to cross the border via the water without having to call into the MNR daily for permit numbers. Cost for the

RABC is about $30 and is good for 1 year. At the present time, we are about 40% full. For more infor-

mation, please contact Phil Gutmann at home 847-669-8286 or via email at [email protected] or at

any upcoming monthly club meeting. Deposit required is $100.00 per person and is payable to Angle

Saturday Night Fish Fry for those that want to participate. This may change in the future as the resort is

trying to re-negotiate their license. One item that everyone needs to be aware of is the permit requirement

for your boat/trailer while traveling through Minnesota. Please visit the DNR site for Minnesota for details.
