Salvatore Atti is a native of Angola, NY. He currently lives in Boston, MA where he received a Bachelor’s de-gree in Music and a Master’s in Opera performance, both from The Boston Conservatory. While at the Conserva-tory Mr.Atti performed in many operas, including Turn of the Screw, Cosí fan Tutti, Serse, la Rondine, and The Mikado. He is most noted for his performances of Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Tebaldo in I Capuleti e I Mon-tecchi, and Gonzalve in L’heure Espagnol. Critics acclaim Mr. Atti’s voice to be “charming in its legato, and roman-tic phrases” (L’heure Espagnol). In Don Giovanni it was written that Mr. Atti “played the role engagingly (which is a rare feat.) His heartfelt arias and attentive manner show him as a truly devoted and sympathetic character.” Mr. Atti made his professional debut with intermezzo chamber opera in the world premiere of A Place of Beauty, which featured Barbara Kilduff. Mr. Atti has been a featured so-loist with the Boston Conservatory Choir, the famous Old North Chamber choir, and Newton Community Chorus. Mr. Atti also sang with the St. Paul’s Cathedral men’s and boy’s choir in Buffalo NY ( for 3 yrs). This is Mr. Atti’s debut performance with Buffalo Opera Unlimited and his Opera debut in his home town. Mr. Atti is a student of Vic-tor Jannett. Salvatore will be performing in the opera, “Faust” at Buffalo State College on Friday, Sept. 21st at 8 p.m. and on Sunday, Sept. 23rd at 2:30 p.m. Tickets can be pur-chased by calling the Rockwell Theater at Buffalo State.

The Lake Shore Boys Varsity soccer team improved to 5-0 with a 4-0 victory at Dunkirk on Monday, September 10th. Captain Wade Bergum scored three of his team's four goals, giving him sixteen goals on the season. Codie Taylor scored the Eagles other goal and Kade McGarrity assisted on two of Wade Bergum's goals. Bryce Parker-Norton played in goal for the clean sheet. Lake Shore is now ranked #9 in the large school poll and next host East Aurora, who are ranked #2 in the small school poll.

The Lake Shore Boys Varsity soccer team opened league play with a 5-1 victory at Springville on Friday, Sep-tember 7th. Captain Wade Bergum scored all five Lake Shore goals, while Kenny Budziszewski, Codie Taylor, and Tony Gee all added assists. Wade Bergum now has thirteen goals through four matches. The game was called with approximately twenty minutes remaining due to the lightning and inclement weather. The Eagles now stand 4-0.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY CELEBRATES 165TH ANNIVERSARY

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul celebrated its 163rd anniversary of service to Western New York at its 17th Annual Top Hat Dinner on Thursday, September 13th at the Millennium Airport Hotel. The ‘Top Hat’ Award, the highest recognition given to non-Vincentians, was given to the Food Bank of WNY. The Food Bank distributes food to approximately 350 member agencies that feed the less fortunate in Cattarau-gus, Chautauqua, Erie, and Niagara Counties providing more than 11 million pounds of food annually across the four counties it serves. Ozanam Medals were presented to 7 Society members for their years of dedicated Vincentian service. Master of Ceremonies was Kevin O’Connell from WGRZ TV Channel 2.
