Boys & Girls Club Hosts Corporate Donors

Two WNY food industry giants, Goya Foods Great Lakes and Pero Family Farms, have partnered to provide a second annual donation of $10,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Lake Shore to help support youth development programs that have served over 530 kids since its inception in 2011. On July 7, 2016, the Boys & Girls Club of Lake Shore’s Advisory Council hosted a special dinner at Pasquale’s Res-taurant in Derby to honor both Robert Drago (President of Goya Foods Great Lakes) and Peter Pero IV (Chief Ex-ecutive Officer of Pero Family Farms) for their companies’ overwhelmingly generous contributions. The gentlemen were presented with custom steel plaques commemorat-ing their sponsorship of the Club that will be prominently displayed in the Club’s facility. Mr. Drago and Mr. Pero IV received personalized photo albums with pictures taken by our very own photography club participants as well. In addition, they were each given DVDs created by the Club showcasing all of the unique attributes, activities, clubs, events, and of course staff and members that make it such an inspiring, supportive place for the youth of the Evans-Brant communities. The original donations by both companies were facili-tated by Town of Brant Supervisor and founding Club Ad-visory Council member Lenny Pero. The Club could not be more thankful to these men, and the companies they rep-resent, for what is truly a blessing to an organization that strives to provide all that it can for the kids of Lake Shore. Revenue to support the Club is derived largely through advisory board membership, member dues, grants, fun-draisers, individual and corporate giving (including from Pasquale’s Restaurant). These contributions by two local corporations mean a great deal to all of the staff, members, and advisory council members of the Lake Shore Club, and we cannot even begin to express the enormity of our grati-tude. A gift of this size can be stretched to great lengths and allows us to provide so many invaluable resources, both educational and recreational, to all of the children that enter our doors. Known as “The Positive Place for Kids,” Boys and Girls Clubs provide guidance oriented programs on a daily basis for children 7-18 years old, conducted by a full-time profes-sional staff. The Boys and Girls Club is a positive place that offers a varied and diversified youth development program. Based on physical, emotional, cultural and social needs and interests of boys and girls, trained staff members offer programs in five core program areas: Character and Lead-ership Development; The Arts; Education and Career De-velopment; Health and Life Skills; and, Sports, Fitness and Recreation. Brant Summer Festival Parade The 13th Annual Brant Summer Festival Parade Judges had a tough time deciding the winners for this year’s pa-rade, and because of it - we had to add a new prize ribbon category! This year’s Brant Fest parade was one of the biggest ever, with 5 Fire companies participating as well as the Shriners, various trucks (Including Pero’s Brock-way and Eddie D’s Mud Truck), tractors (big and small), animals, antique cars, sports cars, golf carts, 4 wheelers, dignitaries, politicians and floats. Brant’s YOUNGEST CITIZEN was in the parade well! 1 month old Isaac Gli-menhaga with proud parents Alyson and Christopher Glimenhaga. The Hamburg Kingsmen Alumni Band joined in at the end of the parade and marched to the drum beat, up into the concert area. It was a beautiful parade! After careful contemplation, the judges came to agreement and made their final decisions. The winners of this year’s Brantfest Parade were… (to be continued next week!)

Southtowns Catholic School Father Daughter Dance

Fathers, Grandfathers, Daughters and Granddaughters enjoyed a very sweet evening together at Southtowns Catholic Schools Annual Father Daughter Dance. The volunteers did a fantastic job building a very sweet theme with "Candy Land". The girls loved taking selfies in the selfie station and even the dads going in on the fun. Annual Donkey Race at the 13th Annual Brant Summer Festival

It was once again, the battle between the Town Clerks as they raced their pet donkeys in the 5th annual Donkey Race at this year’s BRANT SUMMER FESTIVAL! Dur-ing these past five years, visitors to the Brant Summer Festival have enjoyed the Donkey Race! It is hilarious to watch, because we all know how stubborn these adorable creatures can be. Even with their owners in carts behind, gently guiding them, the donkeys definitely prefer to cre-ate their own route. Getting directly to the finish line is not an option! This year’s race was between “Lucille” and “Jackpot”. Lucille was victorious, taking first place once again this year, keeping her title intact! Lucille’s owner is Denise Trumpore, Town Clerk of Persia. Our own Brant Town Clerk, Barb Daniel is the owner of Jack-pot. See how excited Lucille was to win- as she is shown in the photo showing off her FIRST PLACE RIBBON!
