SCHOOL TRANSFERS FOR NATIVE AMERICAN STUDENTS

Pursuant to an agreement between the New York State Education Department and the Lake Shore (Evans-Brant) Central School District, Native American children residing within the Cat-taraugus Reservation may attend the Lake Shore Central Schools by filing an application for transfer by April 15th each year. Such application for September enrollment shall be effective upon approval by the Lake Shore Superintendent, which approval or denial and the reasons therefore shall be set forth in writing. The state shall provide transportation for any child trans-ferring under this section.

All requests for the transfer of Native American children residing within the Cattaraugus Reser-vation should be addressed to James Przepasniak, Superintendent of Schools, Lake Shore Cen-tral Schools, 959 Beach Road, Angola, NY 14006, by April 15th.

Jesus Christ Superstar is a musical by by Andrew Lloyd Webber. The story is loosely based on the Gospels' accounts of the last week of Jesus's life, beginning with the preparation for the arrival of Jesus and his disciples in Jerusalem and ending with the crucifixion. Major General Patrick A. Murphy, The Adjutant General for the State of New York, an-nounces the promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership. Kevin Hamilton from Lake View, and serving with the 105th Military Police Company is promoted to the rank of Specialist. Toby Smith from Angola, and serving with the Headquarters and Headquarters Com-pany, 27th Brigade Special Troops Battalion is promoted to the rank of Private First Class. Cole Benedict from Angola, and serving with the Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 2-101Cavalry (Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Target Acquisition) is promoted to the rank of Private First Class. PART-TIME POLICE, FIRE AND EMS DISPATCHER.

The work involves answering and dispatching police personnel to emergency 911 and non-emergency phone calls, dispatching for 14 Fire and EMS companies, walk-in complaints, operating communications equipment, computers and performing cler-ical work in the dispatch center under the supervision of a ranking police officer. This is a high paced/busy dispatch center and requires the ability to multi-task. Shifts will be overnights, days and afternoons as well as fill in during holidays and vacations.

QUALIFICATIONS include graduation for a standard senior high school or be in possession of high school equivalency diploma; have one (1) year experience in the operation of two way radio and telephone system and related clerical duties which can be certified through payroll. Preference will be given to Town of Evans residents.

Employees for this position go through extensive training for 8 to 16 weeks both on the job and at the Central Police Services academy.

Southtowns Catholic School Pizza Fractions

The kids in Miss Jessica Strozyk's Grade 4 class are learn-ing about fractions in Math. Each student was given a pizza box and they had to include a pizza that was divided into 8 different slices, represent 5 different fractions using differ-ent toppings and include a key that represented each of the fractions. The kids did an amazing job with pizzas made from dough, felt, material, foam and many other "ingredi-ents". Pictured: Gloria, Cameron, Sophia, Emma, Cailum, Riley & Jordan.

Mrs. Jennifer Hill's Grade 2 class is learning about en-gineering. The class split into groups and had to create a house for the 4th little pig that the big bad wolf could not blow down. With only 20 marshmallows, a paper plate, 15 gum drops and an unlimited amount of toothpicks, the kids had to use math and engineering skills to build a house for the little pig.
