THANKSGIVING DINNER 2015

Everyone is invited to St. Frances Cabrini’s

Second Annual Thanksgiving Dinner

on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday November 26 in the Cabrini Center

This year there will be two seatings:

first seating at noon; second seating at 2:30

Catered by our very own Chef Extraordinaire—Hedy!

If you know a neighbor or a friend will be alone, please bring

him or her with you. If you know someone who is homebound, please let the office know;

home deliveries will be made.

Please call the church office to make your reservation

We also need volunteers to set up, serve and cleanup. Call the church office at 941-776-9097

Come celebrate this feast with your parish.

CCW Angel Tree

The annual CCW sponsored Angel Tree program begins November 6, 2015. It is our opportunity

as a parish to make Christmas a little merrier for the nearly 350 children and close to 150 families of a local migrant camp. The primary need for

the children is clothing and shoes. A Christmas tree will be in the narthex adorned with pink

and blue angels each with a child’s name, sizes and needed items. Also, gift card envelopes will be on the tree. Gift cards can be purchased at

the ticket office or church office. Select an angel or gift card envelope and purchase the items listed. Wrap the item and attach the angel to

the gift. This insures the child you selected gets your gift and we match it to the correct family. Your wrapped gift should be placed under the

tree and the sealed gift card placed in the basket by the tree by November 29. The priority is to

provide clothing and shoes to the children, how-ever, if you wish to give a toy please do so, but in addition to rather than instead of a noted an-

gel item. Please do not put the gift card envelope in the angel gift. Your generosity in the past has been overwhelming. Last year you gave help-

to171 families and a total of 500 children!! Your support is sincerely appreciated.

REFLECTIONS FOR EUCHARISTIC ADORATION TREASURES OF CATHOLICISM: APOSTOLIC SUCCESSION Have you considered what a great treasure we have in apostolic succes-sion? What a treasure it is to have as our guide through life the Church that Christ commissioned, the teachings that He gave us handed down in an unbroken chain of succession from St. Peter to Pope Francis? Hear the words of Christ as He instituted the Church: “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have com-manded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” Matthew 28:16-20 Reflect on the magnificence of Christ's words. Hear His assurance to us that He is ruler of all and He will be with His church forever. Know that the teachings and traditions of the Church are as Christ commanded because God is with us guiding us. PRACTICE: Reflect on the words of Bishop Henrique Soares da Costa of Palmares who spoke in response to one of the controversial issues of today. "... the Church can’t do anything about it because her Lord and Master did not grant her that authority. We are all disciples before Christ: only one is the Master, only one is the Guide, only one is the Lord,” Catholic News Agency/EWTN news, Sept 17, 2015. Pray to understand in all issues that God is not separate from His Church and all resolutions must have their end in what He has commanded. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Every Friday 9:00am to 9:00pm in the Chapel of Adoration If you would like to join The Adoration Program at St. Frances Cabrini call or email Alice Burns 919-306-6293 [email protected]

Bible Insights Psalm 16

In Matthew we read, "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. David understood this long before Matthew penned it, and expressed it in a very beautiful Psalm 16, today's Responsorial Psalm. This Psalm has been called "The Golden Psalm" because it contains something of great value, better than gold or any material thing. It contains David's secret: the truth which enabled him to be a strong, courageous warrior and King. He firmly believed that God loved him, protected him, taught him how to live and so in his own words, he wrote:

I keep the Lord always before me;

with the Lord at my right side, (the place of honor) I shall never be shaken.

Therefore my heart is glad, my soul rejoices; . . .

This is the great secret: the constant presence of God. If we could always remember that, wouldn't our lives be different? God has made our destiny secure, God's promise of eternal life, is written in the blood of His Son, Jesus. St. Teresa of Avila wrote :

Let nothing disturb thee, Let nothing affright thee, All things are passing,

God alone is changeless. Who hath God wants for nothing. St. Teresa of Avila, Feast Day, October 15th.
