REFLECTIONS FOR EUCHARISTIC ADORATION RESPONDING TO GOD’S LOVE Behold, the hour is coming and has arrived when each of you will be scattered to his own home and you will leave me alone. But I am not alone, because the Father is with me. I have told you this so that you might have peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.” John 16:32-33. The Prayer of Jesus. When Jesus had said this, he raised his eyes to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. Give glory to your son, so that your son may glorify you, just as you gave him authority over all people, so that he may give eternal life to all you gave him. Now this is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ. I glorified you on earth by accomplishing the work that you gave me to do. Now glorify me, Father, with you, with the glory that I had with you before the world be-gan. I revealed your name to those whom you gave me out of the world. They belonged to you, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything you gave me is from you, because the words you gave to me I have given to them, and they accepted them and truly understood that I came from you, and they have believed that you sent me. I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for the ones you have given me, because they are yours, and everything of mine is yours and everything of yours is mine, and I have been glorified in them. And now I will no longer be in the world, but they are in the world, while I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one just as we are. When I was with them I protected them in your name that you gave me, and I guarded them, and none of them was lost except the son of destruction, in order that the scripture might be fulfilled. But now I am coming to you. I speak this in the world so that they may share my joy completely. I gave them your word, and the world hated them, because they do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world but that you keep them from the evil one. They do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. Consecrate them in the truth. Your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I sent them into the world. And I consecrate myself for them, so that they also may be consecrated in truth. I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me. And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may be brought to perfection as one, that the world may know that you sent me, and that you loved them even as you loved me. Father, they are your gift to me. I wish that where I am they also may be with me, that they may see my glory that you gave me, because you loved me before the foundation of the world. Righteous Father, the world also does not know you, but I know you, and they know that you sent me. I made known to them your name and I will make it known, that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in them.” John 17:1-26. PRACTICE: Read the passages above reflecting on Jesus’ intimate relationship with God and those who love Him and follow Him. Reflect on Jesus’ words about the plan for salvation. Reflect on the distinction Jesus makes between this world and Heaven. Pray to understand Jesus’ words fully. Pray that you may, throughout life, focus not on this world but on Heaven.

BIBLE INSIGHTS PSALM 22 No one who reads the excerpts from Psalm 22 found in today's Mass can miss the allusion to Jesus' final prayer at the end of his life. The picture drawn by the psalmist can bring tears to our eyes. Thinking about what Jesus went through, which will be all too vivid in the Liturgy this week, the reader might miss the positive message the Psalm offers if he does not read the entire Psalm. The first 22 verses express a lament for all the suffering; verse 23 changes the mood where the psalmist makes a promise to the Lord, to praise God in the Assembly and exhorts all to do likewise by praising, giving honor, showing reverence to God for not forgetting him or failing to hear his prayer. There are times in everyone's life when things gang up on a person and he feels God is not listening. It is at this time that we need to recall the commitment we made to God and realize that there is a price to pay in keeping our promise and the pledge of God who says, "I am with you always." It calls for trust and confidence in Him, "who drew you from the womb and made you feel safe at your mother's breast. . . since birth you are my God." Another thought which comes to mind, in this Year of Mercy, is that we can use our own experience of feeling forgotten to practice a "ministry of listening," among those who feel God has turned a deaf ear to them by being present to them. We are not called upon to give answers but only a loving ear to allow them to voice their pain. Whenever one human listens to another upset person, there God is present with them. Then we can support them by our own prayers. Both are blessed. Lenten blessings, Cathy LaDisa.

The Divine Mercy Novena Jesus asked that the Feast of the Divine Mercy be preceded by a Novena to the Divine Mercy which would begin on Good Friday. He gave St. Faustina an intention to pray for on each day of the Novena, saving for the last day the most difficult intention of all, the lukewarm and indifferent of whom He said: "These souls cause Me more suffering than any others; it was from such souls that My soul felt the most revulsion in the Garden of Olives. It was on their account that I said: 'My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass Me by.' The last hope of salvation for them is to flee to My Mercy." In her diary, St. Faustina wrote that Jesus told her: "On each day of the novena you will bring to My heart a different group of souls and you will immerse them in this ocean of My mercy ... On each day you will beg My Father, on the strength of My passion, for the graces for these souls." The different souls prayed for on each day of the novena are: DAY 1 (Good Friday) - All mankind, especially sinners DAY 2 (Holy Saturday) - The souls of priests and religious DAY 3 (Easter Sunday) - All devout and faithful souls DAY 4 (Easter Monday) - Those who do not believe in Jesus and those who do not yet know Him DAY 5 (Easter Tuesday) - The souls of separated brethren DAY 6 (Easter Wednesday) - The meek and humble souls and the souls of children DAY 7 (Easter Thursday) - The souls who especially venerate and glorify Jesus' mercy DAY 8 (Easter Friday) - The souls who are detained in purgatory; DAY 9 (Easter Saturday) - The souls who have become lukewarm. During the Solemn Novena leading to Divine Mercy Sunday, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy should be offered each day for the day's intentions. Reprinted from the EWTN website. St. Frances Cabrini Faith Formation Program Sends a Big Thank You!

Recently, the Knights of Columbus approached me about how their organization could financially support the Faith Formation families here at St. Frances Cabrini Church. After sharing the needs of the Faith Formation program, we were blessed to receive a very generous donation from the Knights of Columbus. On behalf of the parish community and the Faith Formation volunteers, I would like to say a heartfelt thank you for this organization’s consideration in supporting the children and families, through their donation. It has been a year of growth and change for our Faith Formation program as we saw a 28% increase in registered students. The financial help provided by the Knights of Columbus will help defray the cost of supplies necessary to run a successful program as well as help to cover registration fees for those families who are unable to afford it. Many people do not realize that we never turn away a family from registering if they are unable to pay the registration fee. Each of these students is welcomed into the program regardless of their family’s financial needs. Our area of Parrish, Florida is growing in size with thousands of homes being built and there will be a new bridge connecting Parrish and Bradenton scheduled to open in 2017. Both of these changes within our area will bring more and more families to St. Frances Cabrini Church, who are seeking to have their children enrolled in our Faith Formation program. Next year it is expected that we will continue to experience a tremendous growth in the number of students enrolled in our program.

A Faith Formation program that is growing in size can provide an opportunity for the members of our parish to share their gifts of time and talent as well as their financial support. There are many parishioners who ask how they can help support the Faith Formation program. The two best ways are volunteering and financial support. Making a donation to the Faith Formation program is one very important way parishioners can help support this growing program and the young people of our parish. Members of St. Frances Cabrini wanting to volunteer or who want to make a donation to the Faith Formation program can contact Sharon Levesque, Director of Religious Education, in the Faith Formation Office. Thank you for your prayerful consideration. Sharon Levesque, DRE
