There are many command from Allah for us to obey the Prophet There are many command from Allah for us to obey the Prophet

As Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. is the last of the prophets, As Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. is the last of the prophets,

company of those on whom is the Grace of Allah,- of the company of those on whom is the Grace of Allah,- of the

prophets (who teach), the sincere (lovers of Truth), the prophets (who teach), the sincere (lovers of Truth), the

witnesses (who testify), and the Righteous (who do good): witnesses (who testify), and the Righteous (who do good):

Ah! what a beautiful fellowship!”Ah! what a beautiful fellowship!”

company with every saintly and righteous souls – of the Prophets company with every saintly and righteous souls – of the Prophets

this message ought to be contemplated by present Muslims, this message ought to be contemplated by present Muslims,

especially those distracted and deceived by the worldly materialistic especially those distracted and deceived by the worldly materialistic

glitters surrounding our life. Remember: “glitters surrounding our life. Remember: “We are in this world, but we We are in this world, but we

are not of this world!are not of this world!””

We tend to forget that we are constantly in sin, if not knowingly We tend to forget that we are constantly in sin, if not knowingly

Thus actually, we are much in need of Allah’s Mercy and Thus actually, we are much in need of Allah’s Mercy and

forgiveness. The condition to deserve this is obedience to Allah and forgiveness. The condition to deserve this is obedience to Allah and

It is as though Allah is highlighting the fact that those who chose It is as though Allah is highlighting the fact that those who chose

to disobey are indeed arrogant and proud, as though they do not to disobey are indeed arrogant and proud, as though they do not

need Allah’s grace and Mercy. need Allah’s grace and Mercy.

O how foolish we are to be such !O how foolish we are to be such !


““O you who have attained to faith! Remain conscious of O you who have attained to faith! Remain conscious of

(and fear) Allah, and [always] speak with a will to bring out (and fear) Allah, and [always] speak with a will to bring out

[only] what is just and true -[whereupon] He (Allah) will [only] what is just and true -[whereupon] He (Allah) will

cause your deeds to be virtuous, and will forgive you your cause your deeds to be virtuous, and will forgive you your

sins. And [know that] whoever obeys (pays heed unto) sins. And [know that] whoever obeys (pays heed unto)

This point must be noted so as to set aside “This point must be noted so as to set aside “doubts and doubts and

hesitationshesitations” which certain Muslims entertain when called to do what ” which certain Muslims entertain when called to do what

is right according to is right according to SHARI’IAHSHARI’IAH. Some people still use their own . Some people still use their own

reasoning, logic or succumb to “reasoning, logic or succumb to “pragmatismpragmatism” of trying to please ” of trying to please

others when called to act Islamically. Just because, in their others when called to act Islamically. Just because, in their

estimation, the result or outcome may seemed to be unfavourable, estimation, the result or outcome may seemed to be unfavourable,

they therefore justify their not attempting to carry out a command of they therefore justify their not attempting to carry out a command of

This itself is evidence of ‘hypocrisy ‘ (This itself is evidence of ‘hypocrisy ‘ (NIFAQNIFAQ) in their hearts; a ) in their hearts; a

cowardly attitude devoid of true sincerity (cowardly attitude devoid of true sincerity (IKHLASIKHLAS) in upholding ) in upholding

Obedience to Allah and His Messenger is the common Obedience to Allah and His Messenger is the common

denominator for Muslims’ unity and strength. Indeed, this denominator for Muslims’ unity and strength. Indeed, this

fundamental principle is the essence of what a Muslim should be.fundamental principle is the essence of what a Muslim should be.

Yet, difference and disputes, even in matters of religion do occur Yet, difference and disputes, even in matters of religion do occur

because of hypocricy, jealousy and conceit. The hidden motive lies in because of hypocricy, jealousy and conceit. The hidden motive lies in

people’s heart - for not every people’s heart - for not every MuslimMuslim are automatically a are automatically a Mu’meenMu’meen..

The strength of the Ummah (Muslim community) is in the quality The strength of the Ummah (Muslim community) is in the quality

of its Muslims’ submission. Its weakness is the quarrelling, of its Muslims’ submission. Its weakness is the quarrelling,

disputations and enmity of the ignorant and the insincere. Yet, the disputations and enmity of the ignorant and the insincere. Yet, the

true believers must strive to remain steadfast and patient.true believers must strive to remain steadfast and patient.


““O you who have attained to faith! Obey (pay heed unto) O you who have attained to faith! Obey (pay heed unto)

Allah, and obey (pay heed unto) the Messenger and unto Allah, and obey (pay heed unto) the Messenger and unto

those from among you who have been entrusted with those from among you who have been entrusted with

authority; and if you are at variance over any matter, refer it authority; and if you are at variance over any matter, refer it

unto Allah and the Messenger, if you [truly] believe in Allah unto Allah and the Messenger, if you [truly] believe in Allah

and the Last Day. This is the best [for you], and best in the and the Last Day. This is the best [for you], and best in the

Allah already knew that differences will occur, and thus this verse.Allah already knew that differences will occur, and thus this verse.

Yet, despite of this clear directive, it has not resolve the disunity Yet, despite of this clear directive, it has not resolve the disunity

amongst many Muslims. The reason perhaps is because, to be able to amongst many Muslims. The reason perhaps is because, to be able to

conform such Muslims must be Believers (conform such Muslims must be Believers (MU’-MINEENMU’-MINEEN), in Allah and ), in Allah and

the Hereafter (the Hereafter (AKHIRAHAKHIRAH).).

Alas, with hypocrisy and insincerity; the influence of worldly and Alas, with hypocrisy and insincerity; the influence of worldly and

materialism; exacerbated by ignorance and ‘lost’ identity amongst materialism; exacerbated by ignorance and ‘lost’ identity amongst

Muslims – many are in fact opposing this verse. It is perhaps because Muslims – many are in fact opposing this verse. It is perhaps because

they do not feel the ‘presence’ (existence) of the Prophet s.a.a.w. In they do not feel the ‘presence’ (existence) of the Prophet s.a.a.w. In

their life, as how the their life, as how the SAHABAHSAHABAH (companions of Prophet) felt. (companions of Prophet) felt.


““Remain, then, conscious of Allah (and fear Him – Remain, then, conscious of Allah (and fear Him – TAQWATAQWA), ),

and keep alive the bonds of brotherhood among yourselves, and keep alive the bonds of brotherhood among yourselves,

and obey (pay heed) unto Allah and His Messenger, if you are and obey (pay heed) unto Allah and His Messenger, if you are

[truly] believers! ([truly] believers! (MU’-MINEENMU’-MINEEN)”)”



“Say: Obey Allah and the Messenger.” And if they turn away -

verily, Allah does not love those who deny the truth (KAAFIRIN).”

(Qur’an: Aali ‘Imran: 3: 32)


“But nay, by thy Sustainer! They do not [really] believe unless they

make thee [O Prophet] a judge of all on which they disagree among

themselves, and then find in their hearts no bar to an acceptance of

thy decision and give themselves up [to it] in utter self-surrender.”

(Qur’an: An-Nisa’: 4: 65)

for a believing man or a believing woman to claim freedom of choice for a believing man or a believing woman to claim freedom of choice

them, He would certainly have made them hear: but [as it is,] even if He had them, He would certainly have made them hear: but [as it is,] even if He had

from authentic sources (Qur’an, from authentic sources (Qur’an, As-SunnahAs-Sunnah and teachings from a and teachings from a

discipline yourself to want to act upon it first.discipline yourself to want to act upon it first.

Acquire those knowledge from the Qur’an and Acquire those knowledge from the Qur’an and As-SunnahAs-Sunnah which which

In this way, we diminish our ‘intellectual ego’ from being conceited, In this way, we diminish our ‘intellectual ego’ from being conceited,

for most of us forget that for most of us forget that ““to follow is not merely to know and to follow is not merely to know and

narrate, but to act upon his teachings in ourselvesnarrate, but to act upon his teachings in ourselves.”.”

““What I have forbidden to you, avoid; what I have ordered you What I have forbidden to you, avoid; what I have ordered you

[to do], do as much of it as you can. It was only their excessive [to do], do as much of it as you can. It was only their excessive

“O Allah, make my speech be guidance, inspire me with

reverential fear, give me success in that which is most

pure, and employ me in what is most pleasing to Thee!

O Allah, let me tread the most exemplary path and make

me live and die in Thy creed!

O Allah, bless Muhammad and his Household, give me to

enjoy moderation, make me into one of the people of

right behaviour, the proofs of right conduct, and the

servants of righteousness,"



O Allah! Make faith (O Allah! Make faith (iimaniiman) dear to us and beautify it in our hearts ) dear to us and beautify it in our hearts

and make disbelief (and make disbelief (KufrKufr), sinning (), sinning (FusuqFusuq) and rebelliousness () and rebelliousness (`isyan`isyan) )

O Allah! Allow us to die as Muslims, live as Muslims O Allah! Allow us to die as Muslims, live as Muslims

and join us with the ranks of the righteous ones, and join us with the ranks of the righteous ones,

without tasting humiliation or turmoil.without tasting humiliation or turmoil.

““Glory to thy Lord the Lord, of Honour and Power! Glory to thy Lord the Lord, of Honour and Power!

(He is free) from what they ascribe (to Him)! (He is free) from what they ascribe (to Him)!
