2012 Triton Football team members named HVL All-Conference are:
Cody Schaefer - Senior6’, 175 lbs., QB/DB
Cody had a great senior year before his shoulderinjury in the regular season finale. He led the HVL withfive interceptions one of which he returned for a touch-down. He led the offense to 30.9 points per game inconference play by rushing for six TD’s and passingfor eight TD’s.
Justin Erdmann - Senior 5’10”, 165 lbs., RB/DB
Justin has been an integral part of the Cobra FB pro-gram for the last three years. He started at cornerbackas a sophomore on the 2010 state runner-up team. As ajunior and senior he started both ways and led the team
in scoring both years with 10 TD’s as a junior and 14TD’s as a senior to go along with his 807 rushing yardsas a senior. His hard-nosed play and determination willbe missed.
Ayrton Henderson - Senior6’, 165 lbs., RB/DB
Ayrton is another player who has had a big impact onthe program for the last three years. He started as a safe-ty on the 2010 state runner-up team. Over the last 12games of his career he rushed for over 1,600 yardsgoing for 875 as a junior and 905 as a senior. Playingwith a shoulder he separated in the first game of hissenior year he was still able to make an impact for thisyear’s team. Ayrton is in the Triton record book with thetop 3 single game rushing totals in school historyincluding the top mark of 306 yards vs Montgomery-Lonsdale in 2011. He also comes in at #4 in Tritoncareer rushing yardage at 2,172 yards.
Alex Head - Senior5’11”, 155 lbs., SE/LB
Alex is a great success story and a role model foryounger players who might not be very big. Starting asan outside linebacker his junior and senior seasons hehad 61 tackles as a junior and 71 as a senior. Alex wasalso an excellent blocker on offense from his split end ortight end position. He worked hard for everything hegot and was a quiet leader on the team.
Joe Rislov - Senior6’2”, 190 lbs., OL/DL
Joe was a two way starter for both his junior andsenior seasons. The fourth (and youngest) Rislov toplay the line for the Cobras he did a great job of open-ing holes for the running backs on offense and played asolid defensive line position.
Pictured above are Triton All Conference football players Ayrton Henderson, Alex Head, Justin Erdmann, CodySchaefer and Joe Rislov. Picture and story submitted by Rita Malsom.
Honorable Mention:Bradley Myers, Junior • 6’1”, 200 lbs., TE/LBEvan McNeilus • Junior, 6’1”, 190 lbs., OL/LB

First operated as an inn, famous guestsinclude Horace Greeley, Alexander Ramseyand Ulysses Grant. In 1946 Paul Pappas laidhis eyes on the old limestone structure andknew he had found the location of his dreamrestaurant. Paul and Irene Pappas expandedthe Hubbell House from one dining room for60 customers to six dining rooms that can seatover 300 guests.

Carol's Critter Clipsopens on Main Street
Last Thursday Carol Helvig and her husband Michael opened Carol's Critter Clips onMain Street, next to the State Theatre in Kasson.
The building was formerly occupied by Rosie's Pampered Puppies Grooming, owned byRosie Rose. She moved into a building in the country and Carol's Critter Clips moved fromtheir Rochester location to downtown Kasson.
Carol worked in Rochester for two years as a manager in the grooming salon at Pet Smart. She does bathing, brushing and grooming of cats and dogs. Carol said she has groomed aboutevery breed of dog imaginable. She can also do limited boarding.
Carol emphasizes that she does "gentle" grooming. "It's not about how much money I canmake in a day," said Carol. "If someone thinks their dog is going to be in and out in an hour, that's not me.
Carol has always loved working with animals and her business is an extension of thatlove. With the fancier breeds of dogs grooming can be an art. Patience is also a necessity.
Carol recently hired long time friend Georgie Green to work as a groomer. Hours for noware by appointment and that includes evenings and weekends. The number is (507)398-5569.
Carol Helvig, Georgie Green and Michael Helvig make up the staff at Carol's CritterClips in Kasson. The dog Oreo is a customer.

Montevideo native Samuel Hathaway left his prairie roots tostudy acting in New York City and Toronto -- only to return, full of big-city ideas for his small town.
Sam began by studying at the American Academy ofDramatic Arts (school of Grace Kelly and Robert Redford), butsoon moved to studying with Tom Todoroff (acting coach toLiam Neeson, among others), then on to producing and screen-writing.
Slowly, Sam became frustrated with the money- and ego-centered industry, and began to become nostalgic for the sin-cerity of the art he grew up with in his hometown. Still, thegreat art was being created in NYC, so there he would have tostay.
Or would he?Sam sought out some of the city’s top tutors, and was taught
that there were elements in great art that people were com-pelled to respond to -- things like beauty, humor, and truthful-ness. These things did not require large budgets, just a discern-ing eye. So could these things that made films so successful onlarge budgets make a film successful on a smaller budget? Sambelieved they could.
After time spent living in rural Canada with his Canadianwife, Sam became steeped in Canadian folk history and, re-inspired by the sincerity of small town life, wrote the screen-play for a film -- a film with a great story that would not requirea Hollywood budget to tell. In fact, it only required theresources found back in his home state of Minnesota.
So Sam returned with his wife to his home on the prairie. And thus began work on the film “Once Upon a Whitsun”:
a stylish dark comedy that takes place in 1941, near the once-grand town of Damascus Factory, Ontario, Canada. At thebeginning of the film a mysterious train crash kills the wives oftwo local old men and allows two German P.O.W.’s to escape. When the two men decide to hunt down the Nazi sympathizerthat must have caused the crash, they must decide who theenemy is: the other old man, the two mysterious Mennoniteswreaking havoc in the countryside… or, perhaps, themselves.
Lacking the funds to create the full feature film, Sam haslaunched a campaign using the crowdsourcing tool IndieGoGo(http://www.indiegogo.com), a site that takes fundraising glob-
ally: connecting like-minded people around the world withprojects that inspire them. On the site, funders can pledge var-ious amounts of money toward a project. However, Sam onlyhas until December 8, 2012 to reach his project goal. This pro-ject will succeed or fail based on the number of like-mindedpeople that are inspired to join the project.
Last spring, Sam hired a talented crew from the Twin Citiesto film a promotional trailer, taking advantage of the abun-dance of local resources for his film’s backdrops: the sweeping, raw beauty of rural Southwestern Minnesota; the historiccharm of downtown Mantorville, MN; and the elegant, crafts-manship of the beautiful Cooper’s Pub in suburban St. LouisPark, MN, among others. He is using his trailer to spread theword about his campaign nationally and abroad, uniting thelocal beauty and arti-sans of southwesternMinnesota, the colorfulhistory and folk tradi-tions of Canada, andothers who simplybelieve something likethis should exist.“People respond towhat’s true, and truthisn’t expensive,” Sammuses. “This is anattempt to prove thatart doesn’t have to bemade on a basis ofprofit, but can triumphsimply because peopleare united by a love ofbeauty and truth.”
Mantorville featured in film “Once Upon A Whitsun”
Film still from the Once Upon A Whitsun promotional trailer, outside the old Mantorville opera house.
Director Samuel Hathawayreturned to his roots to film hisforthcoming feature, Once Upon AWhitsun.

Christmas stories for all in “Uh-Oh, Here Comes Christmas!”
nBy Alexa Nash
Everyone hasa story, whetherthey are big or
small, happy orfrustrated; it is all a
part of holiday memories.Told in both narrations of the past, or simplythe storytelling of song, this play lets youdelve into troubles some people have withthe famous holiday, with a few fun carolshere and there to make the audience want tosing along. This winter season at theMantorville Opera House, the theater depart-ment is proud to present “Uh-Oh! HereComes Christmas!” written by RobertFulghum. It is directed by Tom Flaherty withthe musical accompaniment by JaymiWilson.
This show is not just the acting out of asingle plot, but rather a group of people
coming together to tell tales of the past dur-ing the holiday season, and how it effectstheir Christmases now. Whether it is simplyfodder for thought like that told by EricaMiller, or a speech of the never-ending evilsof poinsettias by Priscilla Ruemping; thestory of a reluctant father and his doggieissues by Paul Hauschild, or the delights of aChristmas dinner by Paula Sorensen; the tri-als and inevitable errors of Secret Santashighlighted by Harry Follmuth, or the recol-lection of precious Salvation Army memo-ries done by Karl Huppler... all the storiescome together to give an audience of all ageslaughter and tears.
“Uh-Oh! Here Comes Christmas!” beganNovember 23 and will run throughDecember 9, Friday and Saturdays at 7:30p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Adult tickets are$18 and senior and child tickets are $16.

LEGAL NOTICEWasioja Township
Snow Removal PolicyPURPOSE: To give the citizens of Wasioja Township a realistic
expectation of the snow and ice removal services that will be providedduring the winter season.
GOAL: The general goal of the Township is to keep the townshiproads passable during the most heavily traveled periods of the week.Service is prioritized by the most logical routing pattern.
OPERATIONAL GUIDELINES: The first priority is to make ALLroads passable. Once all roads are passable, the lanes will then bewidened, and abrasive material applied if necessary. Finally, additionalclean up will be done, if time allows before the next snow.
Wasioja Township has only one operator, one snow plow, and onetruck. Operator duty shifts must be limited to 12 hours per day for safetyreasons, therefore in no case is 24 hour a day coverage provided. Icingand snow drifting on roads are an expected aspect of winter travel andgenerally are not adequate justification to dispatch the snow plow. Hoursof operation will be determined by weather conditions and/or traffic vol-ume.
Weekends and holidays will receive a reduced level of service, due tolower traffic volume and limited resources available. If the weather ser-vice has recommended no travel, it is assumed there will be lower trafficvolume, resulting in lower level of service. Operations will be haltedwhen conditions are too hazardous, or if reasonable accomplishmentscannot be made.
EMERGENCY CALLS: Snow plows will not be dispatched at nighton most roads except for true emergency calls such as assisting, firedepartments, ambulance crews, or searching for known strandedmotorists.
STATE LAW PROHIBITS ANY PUSHING OR DUMPING OFSNOW ONTO TOWNSHIP ROAD RIGHT OF WAY.
