Evolution of media technologies

• The media technologies that I used throughout my three stages were varied to help me widen my knowledge wroth the different software's that I could use as a way to show the examiner that I have a good knowledge of what technologies are available toady as they has been a massive development of technology whether that be social media, film technology or media technology.

RESEARCH • The main piece of media technology that I used was

Blogger, which allowed me to display all the work that I had done for my research, planning construction and evaluation. By using blogger I was able to place all of tasks onto my board, where the examiner would be able to see clearly al the tasks that I have carried out. I found blogger very easy to used and I liked how I could chose how my layout as well as how to present my blog to the examiner as I do not want it to look all messy and the examiner struggle to find my work.

RESEARCH• During my research tasks I had to

analyze three music video so I could understand the genre conventions that my music video needs to include. The piece of software that I used for this task was Microsoft PowerPoint, although this is a very basic piece of technology, I was able to used PowerPoint’s layout to help me sure that I could explain the points about the genre convention that the music video uses. I positive about using PowerPoint is that I have used in for a long time and I have been able to develop my skills so I could create an effective PowerPoint. A major limitation by using PowerPoint is that the examiner could be bored of seeing PowerPoint being used as it is not the most effective piece of media technology to use if I want o achieve the best grade I can.

RESEARCH• Also during my research tasks I had to analyze

three digipack adverts and three album diigpacks. The software that I used was called Thing Link and this allowed my to place a tag on certain bit of the advert/ digipack and therefore I was able to explain why the advert/ digipack uses this convention and how this would have an effect on the audience. I really liked using this piece of software as it was very straight foreword and not that complicated. By using this piece of software will hopefully show the examiner that I am able to broaden my knowledge of media technologies.

RESEARCH• Another piece of media technology

that I used was Prezi, and I used this piece of software when I was doing my 9 frame analysis of a music video. This task involved selecting 9 frames firma music video and highlight all the conventions, camera angles, editing and mise en scene that the frame uses. I have used prezi before so I had a very good knowledge of how to use it, by using prezi helped my with the structure and layout of the my 9 frame. The only problem with me using this piece of software was that i was not challenging my ability to use new pieces of software.

RESEARCH• The final piece of software that I used

for my research tasks was Survey Monkey, this is a website that allows you to design a questionnaire. The questionnaire that I designed was to help me with my music video as I wanted to know what the pubic want to see in a music video, so that I could make mys music video appeal to my audience. I have used survey monkey before as I created a questionnaire last year for my portfolio. The main advantage by using survey monkey is that It was very easy to get feedback form people as I could put it on my blog, Facebook page or Email it to people and very easy to create.

PLANNING • Throughout my planning I didn't’t

use a lot of different media technologies, as I tended to use Microsoft Word Throughout. However, when I was creating my initial ideas for my music video I used a piece of software popplet. This piece of software allowed my to create a mind map in the computer of all the different ideas that I had about my music video, which I could embed on my blog

CONSTRUCTON• During my construction I yet again used other

pieces of media software to help me create my music video, digipack and advert. The first piece of software that I used was called Final Cut, by using this piece of software I was able to put together al of the shoots that I had taken over the previous weeks and place them into final cut. The feature that final Cut uses abled me to crop shoots if they were to long, place the audio of the song over the video, I was able to correct the lip singing if it was slightly out of time to the music. I was also able to place a filter over my music to help set the narrative mood of my music video. Before, this tasks I had never used Final Cut, so I had to et to grips with how it works and the features that were available to me on the software. Once my music video was completed I was able to upload it onto my YouTube which I could then place on my blog.

CONSTRUCTION• My last piece of software that I used was

Adobe Photoshop. This helped me to create my digipack and my advert. In order to create my digipack I used a six palette which helped me with the layout as I needed to pace the right photos in the correct pallets. I was also able to use the fonts that I wanted as I was able to download then from a website called Da Font, this website was easy to find and it was easy for me to download the fonts from the website, it was totally free and they were very easy to download. After the fonts had downloaded I was able to uses them on both my digipack and advert.

• By using Adobe Photoshop I was able to drop images that I had taken with the DSLR camera and place them

CONSTRUCTION- EQUIPMENT• The main piece of equipment that I

used to help me shoot piece of film for my music video as well as take pictures for my digipack and advert was a Cannon DLSR camera, By using this camera I was able to take it to the locations where I wanted to film as it was light, small and portable. I was also very impressed with how easy it was to use as it was very straight forward to use. By using this camera I was able to film in a very high quality and therefore it would make my music video look a high quality, as I did not want my music video to look professional.
