Vincent re-tired from the Chevy Plant in Tonawanda, NY. He loved his fishing, hunting and his cars in his earlier years.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUB ANNOUNCES FEBRUARY MEMBER OF THE MONTH

The Boys and Girls Club of Lake Shore is proud to announce Max Michalec and Madison Pawlicki as Feb-ruary’s Members of the Month (MOTM). Every month Club Staff deliberate and choose members that are trust-worthy, respectful, responsible, fair, caring, and good citi-zens at the Club. In addition to having positive character values, the MOTM should participate in a variety of the programs offered at the Club such as sports and games, arts and crafts, Power Hour and Project Learn, Cooking Club, Experiment Club, etc. Max is in sixth grade at the Lake Shore middle school. He is on team Mahalo. Max’s favorite teacher since he has been in school is Mr. Hornberger. Like most kids, Max’s favorite food is pizza. His favorite color is purple. When Max is at the Club, he enjoys playing soccer in the gym. Max is always helpful and kind to his fellow mem-bers. Madison is in fourth grade at John T. Waugh Elemen-tary. Mr. Sills is her teacher and science is her favorite subject. Madison loves to eat stuffed peppers and her fa-vorite color is blue. Madison participates in many of the Club’s programs such as Cooking Club, Minute to Win It in the games room, and the Club’s Daily Challenge, but her favorite area of the Club is the gym. Madison is al-ways respectful of members and staff at the Club. Also pictured with the Members of the Month is the Club’s Student of the month, James Jeswald. James was chosen to be the Student of the Month because of his dedi-cation to his school work, for completing extra Project Learn activities, and for the time he spends reading quiet-ly to himself. James has also earned the most Power Hour points out of all the members for the month of February. James is in third grade at Highland Elementary. His teacher is Mrs. Nasca and his favorite subject is math. James’ favorite teacher was his first grade teacher, Mrs. Crupe. James loves to read. He says the best book he has ever read was Deadly Predators. When James is at the Boys and Girls Club his favorite program is Power Hour because it helps him to complete his homework and he can use the computer lab. FREE PROM DRESSES AVAILABLE Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon reminds local high school girls in need of a gown for the prom or spe-cial event that free dresses will be available during the 4th Annual Prom Dress Drive Shopping Days. New this year, the Shopping Days will be held at Per-forming Arts Dance Academy, located at 206 Lake St., Hamburg. Girls are invited to come and “shop” for a free gown from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 13 and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 14. “Finding the perfect dress for prom should be a fun and exciting event, but the cost of a new gown can be prohibi-tive. The Prom Dress Drive makes it possible for all girls, regardless of financial ability, to have an amazing dress for prom. I encourage anyone in search of a dress to come and look through the collection,” said Legislator Dixon. “I am very grateful to the community for once again com-ing through and donating a large selection of amazing dresses.” Each girl will be allowed one dress to ensure everyone in attendance is able to choose a gown. All the donated dresses are cleaned by Urban Valet Dry Cleaners prior to the free shopping event. A variety of sizes, colors and styles will be available.
