SWARTZ Precious baby, Kenny Louis Swartz went to heaven Monday, April 15 2013 at Childrens Hospital of Buffalo. He was born to Shannon Cervola and Kenneth Swartz on Febru-ary 4 2013. Kenny brought joy and happiness to ev-eryone he touched with his beautiful smile and his strong little hands. He was brought to us too soon and left us even sooner.Kenny was preceded in death by his grandfather Louis N Cervola Jr. of An-gola. His spirit lives on not only through his wife, children and grand-children, but also through his lasting and remarkable achievements in home design and construction, alongside his contributions to the advanced ceramics and materials industry. Kellie Rooth has worked at the Lake Shore Central School District for 16 years. She is a full-time Reading Specialist and AIS provider at John T. Waugh(JTW) and is also the District-Wide Reading Department Chair. Kellie is an active participant on the JTW Parent Teacher Group (PTG) and a member of the JTW Building Planning Team.

Besides teaching, Kellie plays an integral role in designing and developing the district AIS and R&I Plans. These plans are required by New York State. She helps craft and design the plan, and she helps present the plans to her colleagues and serves a resource for our entire district. Kellie collects, organizes and verifies data for our federal grants, and she has coordinated district-wide revisions to our Orton-Gillingham program. She and her colleagues collaborated to ensure our Orton-Gillingham curriculum is aligned to the Common Core standards.

“The heart of Kellie’s work is for the kids. She plans activities for kids, colleagues, and for parents so that we can continue to work as a team to provide a great education for our kids,” says Melissa Evingham, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction. “We are truly appreciative of Kellie as a teacher and a leader of her department.”

COUPLE CELEBRATES 65th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

On April 10th, Leonard and Edna Truby celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. A dinner was held at Ilio DiPaolo’s restaurant commemorating their special day. All of their children and many of their grandchildren were in attendance.

At approximately 11: 40 on April 23rd, 2013 (Tuesday) Town of Evans Police received a call that a vehicle struck and killed a dog in front of 196 North Main Street at the intersection of Orchard Ave in the Village of Angola . The vehicle kept on going without stopping to report the incident. Under the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law Section 600, persons who strike a dog with a vehicle must stop, must attempt to locate the owner and must locate and notify law enforcement.

Evidence found at the scene indicates that the vehicle is possibly a 2006 Buick Rainier (suv) or a 2006 Chevy Trail Blazer. (see photo)

The deceased dog was a large white American bull dog weighing approxi-mately 80 pounds.(photo)
