Recreation Department Mission Statement

The Breckenridge Recreation Team offers quality programs, facilities, and services that encourage community participation and promote fun, physical activity, and growth.

Programs Policies & General Info

The Breckenridge Recreation Department is constantly striving to provide you with the highest quality recreation programs. If you are not completely satisfied, let us know and we will do our best to serve your needs.

All classes will meet or be conducted at the Breckenridge Recreation Center, Stephen C. West Ice Arena or Gold Run Nordic Center, unless otherwise noted.

The Breckenridge Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel any activity due to lack of enrollment, inclement weather or causes beyond our control.

If you have special needs and require assistance to participate in our programs or use our facilities, please contact us to make arrangements prior to class start by calling (970) 453-1734.

Class confirmations are not mailed out. Assume your class is a "go" unless you are notified. Refunds and transfers must be requested 5 working days, excluding weekends, prior to the scheduled start of any

activity. There is a $3 service charge on refunds requested by the participant and no refunds with less than 5 days notice.

There is no service charge if we cancel the activity. Please refer to individual class descriptions for further information regarding refunds and transfer policies, as some classes may differ. Refunds may take 3 to 4 weeks to process.

No refunds of any programs after one year past a program’s start date. Program participants who do not have a Center pass may use locker room and shower facilities. Please contact the Breckenridge Recreation Department at (970) 453-1734, if additional information or assistance is

required. The consumption of alcohol and/or federally prohibited substances is prohibited while participating in any and all

Recreation Department programs or facilities.

Recreation Center Policies

All guests use the Recreation Center programs and facilities at their own risk. Age restrictions apply throughout the facility. We ask that all guests be considerate of other users and visitors in the building. Please dress appropriately and use

appropriate language while in the Recreation Center or participating in programs. In order to provide you with the best experience possible, we ask that you please be aware of high usage times.

These include early morning (before work), early evening (after work), poor weather days and holidays. You may wish to plan your visits accordingly.

Alcohol is not permitted in the Recreation Center, except during sanctioned/permitted events. Private instruction is not permitted in public facilities.

Couples/Families Couple and Family Passes can be purchased with One-Month, 6-Month and One Year Passes. Primary family member pays full adult rate, additional family members receives 25% off. Senior couples are not eligible for this discount.

Group Rates Save money when you come as a group! If your group has 20 or more people, call the Recreation Center to make your reservation at least two weeks in advance, and bring one total payment on the day you arrive (single check or credit card payment). Students learn the basic techniques of self-defense while improving balance, strength, coordination and flexibility. Classes are designed to meet the needs of all ability levels. Teen Trips - Ages 13-16 Are you a middle school or high school student and looking to get away a few days this summer? Grab some friends and head on a teen trip to Denver! Breckenridge Recreation Department Staff will drive and chaperone teens on various trips. Teens will be free to enjoy their trip as long as they are paired with at least one other teen while exploring the park/trip/amusement, etc. Chaperones will be a phone call away OR should a parent decide they would like their teen to stay with a chaperoned group, they may do so! These trips are for ages 13-16. Come have a fun day away from your parents!! Teens will meet for each trip in the Rec Center Lobby before boarding the bus. Parents must be present at drop off in order to sign a waiver. Quickstick Lacrosse Tournament -Competitive - Ages 18-34 Masters - Ages 35+ Early Bird Registration Fee: $500.00, expires Jul 1, 2012 Registration Fee: $550.00, from Jul 2, 2012 - Jul 8, 2012 Late Registration Fee: $600.00, from Jul 9, 2012 - Jul 15, 2012 Men's lacrosse comes to the High Country for two days of intense play. Open to players of all abilities. Players must be at least 18 years old to play. We will have two brackets this summer; a Masters Division and a Competitive Division. The Competitive Division is for teams who play at a higher, intense level. All players must be between the ages of 18-34. No exceptions. A minimum of four teams must register for the competitive division; if this minimum is not met, the masters and competitive division will be combined. The Masters division is open to any teams whose entire roster is 35 years and older. No exceptions. A minimum of four teams must register for the masters division; if this minimum is not met, the masters division will be combined with the competitive division.

All teams must register by July 15th - NO EXCEPTIONS.

National Running Day Fun Run Ages 4 & Up FREE! Join us for the 3rd Annual National Running Day FUN RUN!! We will have a fun run for kids ages 4-12 that will take them around the Recreation Center. We will also have a five mile fun run for youth. The kids run is free. Join us for a great afternoon run, pre-registration is not required but is strongly encouraged. 3891 4:30 to 6pm Wed, May 30, 2012 W Breckenridge Independence Day 10K Run $25 - Pre-registration ends at 12pm, Tuesday, July 3 $30 - Day-of registration Age 18 & Under $15 - Pre-registration ends at 12pm, Tuesday, July 3 $20 - Day-of registration Start your holiday weekend off right with the 6th Annual Independence Day 10k. This scenic 10k trail running race offers up some of the best views in the Breckenridge area, while finishing just in time to catch the Main Street parade and other festivities. Race starts at 7am and finishes at Carter Park. There will be one aid station along the course. Restrooms are available at the start and finish of the race. The race will have three waves:

Competitive - 7am start Intermediate - 7:05am start Leisurely - 7:10am start.

The first 300 people to register will receive a North Face technical tee. Packet pick-up is available from 3-5p on Tuesday, July 3rd at The North Face Breckenridge at 322 S. Main Street. Packet pick up is also available starting at 6am on Wednesday, July 4th at the start of the race. Breckenridge Hunky Dory Half Marathon $50 - Early Bird Rate Register by May 31 $65 - Registration June 1-August 2 $70 - Day Of Registration begins at 7:30am Join us for the 2nd Annual Breckenridge Trail Half Marathon! As you cruise along the 13.1 mile race, you'll enjoy the scenery of the beautiful trails in Breckenridge as well as part of the town's history. The course will have three aid stations that include first aid, water and food. Aid stations will be located at miles 3.2, 7.5 and 10.2. No restrooms are located on the course. Each runner will receive a race t-shirt and lunch at the finish. This race is open to the first 200 registrants. The race will start in the Vista Point Park in Breckenridge, on the corner of Wellington and Reiling Road. Restrooms and water will be available prior to the start of the race. is required. Join us this summer season as we start the 11th year of the Summit Trail Running Series. The Series consists of 6 trail running races in and around the Breckenridge area. Each race features a short and long course, and all races are open to runners of all abilities and ages. There are no aid stations on the courses; this Series will be cup-free. Participants MUST bring a reusable water bottle to the races. PLEASE NOTE: In the event of inclement weather or unforeseen trail conditions the race director reserves the right to delay, cancel or reschedule the race. There will be no refunds in the event of a race cancellation.

CPR/AED/FirstAid Lay Responder Certification Class - Ages 16 & Up $65.00 American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid Cer-tification for Lay Responder. This American Red Cross course offers Cardiopulmonary Resuscita-tion (CPR) techniques used on adults, infants and children. Breckenridge Mountain Camp Summer Camp - Ages 5-12 You thought you had fun last summer? Well, this summer is shaping up to be even bigger and better! Spend the summer swimming, climbing, hiking and jumping on our giant Inflatable Obstacle Course! Not to mention going CRAZY and being kids! The Breckenridge Mountain Camp or the 'BMC' is not just your typical summer day camp program. We have the best staff in all of Summit County, delivering some of the most enjoyable and exhilarating programs around! BMC offers your child a fun and positive experience that will enrich and satisfy him or her all day long. BMC offers programs based on skill development, guided discovery and a choice of amazing activities that foster healthy, outdoor fun. BMC is a state licensed program for children ages 5-12 and each child will be placed into groups according to his/her age. Wednesday is still our designated field trip day so get ready for lots of fun!

Oktoberfest Women’s Hockey Tournament Ages 18 & up $525.00

Start the Fall season the right way. Come to Breckenridge to play in the Annual Women's Oktoberfest Hockey Tournament as well as enjoy Fun, Food and Beverages on Breckenridge Main Street during our Oktoberfest Celebration September 14-16. This is an adult round robin tournament with a 3 game guarantee. There will be 3 divisions of play: Women's A, B1 and B2. Registration is $525 per team and ends on Monday, September 3 at 5:00pm. Full payment is due with registration. There will be no spectator fees.

Mini Mites Youth Hockey - Ages 3-7 $110.00 Just because you're mini, doesn't mean you can't play hockey! Get a head start on the sport! This class is for the beginner hockey player (ages 7 and under). If your child has never skated before, we recommend enrolling him/her in our Tots Breck Skating School class (available Tuesdays or Fridays) before participating in this class because skating skills are REQUIRED for Mini Mites. Full hockey equipment is required for all participants. No Class on Friday, July 6.

Summer Breck Skating School - Adult Basic - Ages 16 & Up $60.00/session 6 Week Session Breckenridge Skating School will offer classes on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:00pm on the indoor rink. The classes that will be taught is Adult Basic 1 (ISI Equivalent: Alpha/Beta) for ages 16 and up who have never skated or are learning to stand up and skate forwards across the ice rink. Forward stroking, forward crossovers, one foot glides and snowplow stops are introduced and mastered. Backward skating skills, three turns, Mohawks, t-stops and hockey stops are introduced. The classes will all be held on the indoor rink, which is approximately 48 degrees, so please dress in warm, comfortable clothing. Mittens or gloves and snowpants are highly recommended for never-ever skaters as they may spend some time on the ice while learning to skate. Class on June 26 will be from 7-7:30pm. Summer Breck Skating School Intermediate Tots Ages 3-5 Breckenridge Skating School will offer classes on Friday from 6:45-7:15pm on the indoor rink. The class that will be taught is Intermediate Tots (ISI Equivalent: Alpha/Beta) for 3-6 yr olds who are have already mastered basic stopping and skating skills, and can skate confidently on their own the length of the ice arena. Forward stroking, swizzles, ½ swizzles, one foot glides on straight lines and edges are introduced, along with forward crossovers. Skaters are introduced to backward skating. The classes will all be held on the indoor rink, which is approximately 48 degrees, so please dress your child in warm, comfortable clothing.
