    RECREATION SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLEYouth & Senior Recreation Scholarships are available through the Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities Office for participation in City of Turlock Recreation Activities. Participants must be 18 years of age or under or 62 years of age and above, and have a Turlock address. Once approved, applicants may receive up to $75 for the fiscal year. For more information contact the Recreation Office.

    Donations are being accepted for additional scholarships. Please contact the Park, Recreation and Public Facilities Office for more information.

    GENERAL INFORMATION

    Turlock Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities Department is raising funds for youth scholarships through the SHARES Card. A percent of every grocery dollar will support youth in Turlock and help them participate in safe and positive activities. To receive a free card or more information contact Turlock Recreation at 668-5594.Its easy and all you have to do is provide the card when you shop!

    Bounce House Permits Once you have rented a park space and contracted with an approved Bounce House company, you must purchase a $35 Bounce House Permit through the Recreation Office. For more information contact the Recreation Office.

    KIDZ LOVE SOCCER ....................................Kidz will learn the worlds most popular sport from professional coaches licensed in the Kidz Love Soccer method. The program will include age appropriate activities: skill demonstrations, fun games and instructional scrimmages, always conducted in a non-competitive format. New is the Soccer Skillz & Scrimmages which will be more advanced skill development including dribbling, passing, shooting and team play. ALL participants will also receive a Kidz Love Soccer Jersey.     SUMMER T-BALL BASEBALL .....................................Come out and play the game of baseball in a non-competitive atmosphere. Boys and girls 4 - 6 years can join a team and play 6 games of T-Ball against other children. This program is an introduction to baseball and is taught and played in a non-competitive format. No score is kept, all players are winners! All of our coaches are volunteers, if you want to coach give us a call. Players receive a t-shirt and replica major league hat.     Join the fun! This program will offer a variety of fun activities for boys and girls TK 6th grade (2015/16 school year) in a day-camp atmosphere. Enrichment activities, educational games, arts, crafts, indoor / outdoor activities and swimming (starting June 15) will all be a part of this program. Please send your child with a morning and afternoon snack. For program policies please review the registration form.     Registration for the 2015/16 school year begins July 1st

    What do we do with the kids after school? In the PLAY (Positive Leisure Activities for Youth) program, children will have time to complete homework daily, participate in a variety of fun activities and most importantly have a safe place to go after school. Register no later than Friday, August 7th to avoid programs being canceled. If the minimum number of participants has not been met by this date, the program will not be offered. For detailed information about each site, please visit each specific school site flyer on the City of Turlock website.

    Friday, August 7th will be the last day to register in order for child to start the program during the first week of school, regardless of grade. Children registered after this date, will not be allowed to participate until the week of August 17th. For program policies please review the PLAY Registration Form.

    A.S.E.S. AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMThis program is designed to help students with homework, teach life-skills and promote healthy lifestyles through structured recreational activities. A.S.E.S. is for 1st - 8th grade students who attend Brown, Crowell, Cunningham, Osborn, Turlock Jr. High and Wakefield Schools. The program meets Monday - Friday from the time school lets out until 6:00pm. Please contact the Recreation Office to see if your desired school still has openings.

    Please note there are attendance requirements for this program.

    COMMUNITY CENTER ACTIVITIESSponsored by the Housing Authority of Stanislaus County, this program helps foster human development by providing life long learning for youth ages 5 - 18 years who live in and around the HUD homes. The program provides recreation, arts & crafts and much more!

    SWIM LESSONSCLASS INFORMATION ...............................................Beginning at 8am, Wednesday, April 29th, registration will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration can be done on-line or in person. If child is registered in wrong class level, they will be moved to the appropriate class only if there is room.

    CLASS LEVELS:Minnow ....................................................................(Infant)This program is designated for parents and their 6 to 18 month old child to work on water acclimation. The instructor and the parent will work together to teach kicking, floating, breath control, and safe submersions. Parent participation is required.

    Tadpole ................................................................. (Toddler)This program is designated for parents and their 18 month to 3 year old child to work on water acclimation and basic swimming skills. The instructor and the parent will work together to teach kicking, floating, breath control, safe submersions, and introduce independence in the water. Parent participation is required.

    Starfish ............................................................... (Preschool)While creating a comfortable and safe environment in the water for 3 to 5 year olds, this level teaches students how to independently float, kick, and safely enter/exit the water. It also introduces arm movements and breath control.

    Seahorse ................................................................(Level 1)In this level, the instructors will build on the swimming foundations of 5 to 8 year old children. This level includes the development of independent floating, kicking, and forward movement.

    Otter ......................................................................(Level 2)The instructor will strengthen swim foundations by teaching the basics of freestyle and backstroke, side breathing, and body positioning. Child must have passed Seahorse level (Level 1).

    Dolphin ..................................................................(Level 3)This level will advance the swim strokes of freestyle and backstroke. The breaststroke and the butterfly kick are also introduced. Child must have passed Otter level (Level 2).

    Whale ................................................................... (Level 4)While this level will continue to build on the swim strokes of freestyle and backstroke, the instructors will also introduce breaststroke, treading water, and safety strokes. Child must have passed Dolphin level (Level 3).

    Shark....................................................................(Level 5)The goal of this level is to master the advanced swim strokes of freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke. The instructor will refine the butterfly stroke and teach diving starts and flip turns. Child must have passed Whale level (Level 4).

    Beg. SwimmerThis level is designed to teach basic swim foundations to 9 to 17 year olds. Upon passing this level, the child meets the requirements to participate in the Whale level (Level 4).

    TEEN ADVISORY COUNCIL ............................The Teen Advisory Council (TAC) wants to stress the importance of getting involved! TAC encourages teens to enrich their lives by volunteering their time. Volunteering is a great way to make new friends, give back to your community and help others.

    TAC is a diverse group of young people 7th 12th grade, who are working together to make a difference in the community. Meetings are held the 4th Monday of every month, 6:00 7:00pm. Throughout the year, the Teen Advisory Council works diligently on planning, organizing and implementing activities in the Turlock Community.

    Applications will be available at the Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities Department Office June 1st August 21st.

    Requirements to Join TAC: Must be in 7th - 12th Grade Must be a resident of Turlock or attend a school in

    Turlock Complete application packet & submit to the Parks,

    Recreation and Public Facilities Department no later than Friday, August 14th.

    A $70.00 registration fee will be required of all 2015/2016 Teen Advisory Council members

    GENERAL INFORMATIONClasses may be canceled due to lack of enrollment. Please make every effort to pre-register so a class will not be canceled unnecessarily.

    REFUND POLICYRefunds will be given on cancellations prior to the first class, less a $10 cancellation fee. Failure to attend a program will not be granted a refund. If you are not satisfied with any of our programs, please contact the program supervisor, 668-5594.

    CLASS TRANSFERS AND/OR LATE FEESAny class changes will be charged an $8 transfer fee. After the class start date, all transfers will require instructors approval. If enrollment is being accepted after the class start date or registration date, a $5 late fee will be added to the class fee.

    WAIT LIST POLICYAnyone can be put on the waiting list for a class. If a customer withdraws from a class thus creating an open spot, the first person on the waiting list is called to accept or decline. Class spots are not held or reserved and are not finalized until payment is made. Waiting lists do not roll over.

    PHOTO RELEASE POLICYPlease be advised that all participants involved in any program or special event are subject to being photographed. Such photographs may be used by the City of Turlock without an obligation to provide compensation to those photographed.
