Outdoor Adventures

NATURE CRAFT Ages 6 and up Fee:$ 5.00 at Lake St. Catherine State Park Come join us in creating craft items using things from the outdoors. We will be creating a variety of items from wood candle holders to rock garden creations. Join us and bring a little bit of nature home with you each day.

Pond Hill Ranch Visit Ages 5 & Up Fee: $5.00

Meet at Pond Hill Ranch located at 1683 Pond Hill Ranch Road in Poultney, Vermont and learn about horses and rodeos. Get a first hand look at the stables on a ranch tour and take a pony ride.

NATURE CAMP Ages 5 and up Fee:$ 5.00 at Lake St. Catherine State Park

Enjoy a walk through nature, check out animal habitats, do some fun crafts. Build a home for some cool critters. It's a new adventure each day around Lake St. Catherine Park and Recreation area.

Mountain Biking With Slate Valley Trails Ages 7 and up Fee:$ 5.00

A two hour mountain bike camp to explore Slate Valley Trails, ( 131 Town Farm Road, Poultney, VT

(off route 140) Fairgrounds Trailhead) learn some mountain bike skills, discover trail riding and learn about bike and trail maintenance. Beginner/Intermediate level, bikers should have basic bike skills, no trail riding experience is necessary.

Sports Camps JERRY HANSEN GOLF PROGRAM Ages 4 and up Fee: Free

This program is designed for beginner and intermediate golfers. Area youth of all ages are offered a chance to learn

and improve their golf skills. On the first day, children will be divided into two skill groups if the numbers permit.

Each group will work on strengthening their fundamentals of the game,

including: long and short irons, woods, chipping, putter and bunker play.

• Date: June 21-25 3:00-4:30 pm • Place: Poultney Elementary School Monday-Wednesday & Lake St.

Catherine Country Club on Thursday & Milestone Golf Course in

Hampton, NY on Friday.

INTRO TO MARTIAL ARTS Children entering grades 1-6 Fee: $10.00

Children will be introduced to a traditional Asian Martial Arts system. Participants will be ex-

posed to a range of martial arts activities including: meditation, exercise, stances, blocks, punch-

es, and kicks. Emphasis will be placed on awareness, discipline, respect, character, and combat.

Concepts will be transmitted in an atmosphere that emphasizes the fun of physical activity and

increasing physical competence.

SOCCER FUN CAMP Ages 4 & up Fee: $10.00 per week

This camp is set up to teach the basic fundamentals of soccer and game play

to children of all ages. Participants will be placed into skill groups depending

on registration. Indoor soccer will be played on rainy days.

GYMNASTIC DANCE Ages 4 and up Fee: $10.00

Basic stunts, tumbling, and dance moves put together with music and dance. Fun for ages 4 and up. Please have

children wear shorts, sneakers, and bring a water bottle each day.

BASKETBALL CAMP Ages 6 & up Fee: $10.00 per week

Basketball is offered for beginners and intermediate skill levels. Two sessions will be scheduled for different ages

and ability levels if numbers permit. The first week will be spent on

learning conditioning, basic skills and team play. The second week

will cover offense and defense strategies as well as team and

tournament play. Groups will be divided up after the first day.

TENNIS FOR CHILDREN Ages 6 & up Fee: $10.00

Tennis camp for beginners. Area youths of all ages are offered a chance to improve their skill and compete against

others of the same ability. We will focus on skill development, ground strokes, forehand, backhand, serve, volley,

and strategies of the game. Please have children wear sneakers, bring a water bottle each day, and a tennis racket if

they have one.

Make Believe

PRINCESS CAMP! Be swept away to a castle using imagination, creativity and

dress up. Tiaras, crafts, princess wands and being pampered like a princess. A royal celebration complete with singing and dancing and a tea party. *Feel free to wear your own princess dress each day. Hogwarts Academy! Participants will become students at

Hogwarts Academy by participating in a variety of subjects for witches and wizards, including potions, Herbology, care of Magical Creatures, and Quidditch. IMAGINATION CAMP! Be a superhero...Use your imagination…

A recreational program for boys and girls ages 4-7 who love to let their imaginations run wild as they pretend to be a superhero, heroine, prince, princess, ninja turtle Disney character or more.

MINI GOLF Ages 4 & up Fee: $5.00

Join Poultney Recreation Miniature Golf Club for a week full of fun and

tournament play. The camp will consist of practice and tournament play.

TOWN OF CASTLETON Castleton Recreation Commission Summer Swim Lessons – 2021

Beginning Monday, June 21 - July 2nd Monday-Friday

Crystal Beach Poultney participants $ 10

Everyone will be responsible for the transportation of their own children. Class times may vary depending on class size. Any student requiring any hands-on help must have an adult accompany them. When classes are dismissed, parents are then responsible and MUST Keep them out of the swim lesson area. If you plan on staying at the beach after your lesson time please see the gate attendant for an admission ticket. Please put your email on the registration form so I can confirm class times / or set you up for a different time if the class fills prior to your registration. All Classes will be @ Crystal Beach and alternate plans for deep water made during classes. You may email her @ [email protected] or call 802-273-3627. (email is better since many times the numbers left on the answering machine are indistinguishable. She will try to NOT turn anyone away. Please return this form to the Castleton Town Office, PO Box 727, Castleton, VT 05735 by June 15, 2020 however, we will try to take registrations up to the opening day. Make checks out to the Town of Castleton. CRYSTAL BEACH 2021 SWIM PROGRAM June 21st - July 2nd 2021

10:00 - 10:30 AM Begin with survival swimming, releases from holds in deep water, lifts to the dock of victims and swimming fully clothed, basic tows of victims in deep water

10:30-11:00 Level 5: Stroke perfection, deep water work, diving-distance 11:00- 11:30 Level 4 Stroke enhancement, endurance, new strokes 11:30-12:00 Level 4: Stroke enhancement, diving, endurance- new strokes 12:00-12:30 Level 3: Introduction breast/side strokes, dolphin kick arm-leg skill 12:30-1:00 Level 3: Working on crawl strokes and breathing and above skills 1:00-1:30 Level 3: Same as the above 1:30-2:00 Level 2: Intro to the crawl stroke front and back and whip kick 2:00-2:30 Level 2: Also, introduction of rhythmic breathing must be able to paddle

Music and Art of the Caribbean Day Camp For kids ages 9-12

Place: Stone Valley Arts Dates: Monday July 19 -Thursday July 22 Time: 9:00 am – Noon Cost: $ 60 for 4 days Poultney Recreation will cover $ 50 of the cost of the

program (or $ 15 per day). Instructors: Jen Cohen and Krista Rupe

Come learn about this fascinating instrument from Trinidad, and be part of a steel band for a week. Through drumming and singing we’ll explore Caribbean music and culture. Working together as an ensemble we will create an original musical production, which we will perform on the final day. Campers will learn about famous artists through inspired projects and learn through fun, hands-on art activities in sculpture, painting, design and more. No experience necessary. A typical day at Caribbean Week: 9:00 Physical and musical warmups 9:20 Steel pan practice 10:00 Art and Crafts 10:50 Engine Room - hand percussion and tappers
