Tippy is a 16 month old puggle mix. Sheis currently about 16 pounds but is quiteskinny from her previous case of neglect. She LOVES her food so she will be puttingsome weight on in no time! Tippy camefrom a hoarding case from out of state, sheis slowly getting used to a life indoors, aspart of the family. She is very shy and timidat this point, but her foster family is workingwith her and with some time and patienceshe will make a great companion. She likesto have her own space with a nice bed orblanket where she can cuddle up, especial-ly when she is frightened.

Tippy is currently using pads but will belearning to go outside as well. She is goodwith other dogs and has not been tested

with cats. Because of her past, it would be best for Tippy if she did not goto a home with small children, they might make her nervous.

Tippy is spayed, up to date with shots; heartworm and intestinal para-site free and microchipped.

Staying with Gordy's Body Shopname a good move for Josh Welke

Gordy Quimby ownedand operated Gordy's BodyShop for 40 years before hesold to Josh Welke ofRochester, fresh out of vo-tech and 21 years old. Sixyears later, June 2012, Joshinsists keeping the Gordy'sBody Shop name was one ofthe best business decisionshe and his family made.

"Gordy had a good reputa-tion and we did not want tochange the name," said Josh.Today Josh still has many ofGordy's dedicated customersand feels that is because ofthe reputation he is building.

For the first five yearsJosh worked long days, nights and weekends by him-self with some part timehelp. He now has a full timeemployee and his mother

continues to do the book-keeping. Josh said he is moreof a hands on person and notmuch for doing bookwork.

Gordy's does collisionwork, modification andpainting. With an insuranceclaim a loaner car is avail-able. As the motto on theweb site states, "You breakthem...We fix them!"

Josh has liked tinkeringwith cars since he was ayoung kid. Working on themsparked his interest in bodyshop work. After highschool his mind was made upto enter that field of work. After vo-tech he worked intwo other body shops beforepurchasing Gordy's.

Becoming a businessowner not long after attend-ing to vo-tech, Josh says theeducation continued on thejob. He admitted makingmistakes and learned fromthem. It did not happen often, but if a customer had a prob-lem he took care of themwhen they came back. "I wasa green horn," grinned Josh.

Today Josh Welke says hehas increased his customerbase from when he purchasedthe business. "I like havingmy own hours and dealingwith the people," said Josh."Taking a vehicle from awreck to like new is instantgratification."

Earlier this summer Joshwas out of action for threeweeks following a kneesurgery. However, that didnot stop him from hobbling

around on crutches anddoing what he could at theshop with limited ability. "Itwas tough not being able todo as much as I wanted," saidJosh.

Josh takes a great deal of

pride in the work he does andno longer considers himself a"green horn". Who knows,Josh Welke could be aroundfor the next 40 years just likeGordy!

Gordy's Body Shop owner Josh Welke works on theback quarter panel of a pickup in the shop. Josh was 21when he bought the business from Gordy Quimby andinsists he has learned a lot in six years of ownership.

One thing Josh Welke felt was important for him to be successful was to keep theGordy's Body Shop name and continue the reputation owner Gordy Quimby had.

Three ways to conserve fuel

As costly as gas hasbecome, drivers can still mit-igate those costs by employ-ing a few strategies aimed atincreasing their driving effi-ciency.

1. Maintain a consistentspeed. If going on a longroad trip or if your dailycommute involves longstretches of highway driving, rely on your vehicle's cruisecontrol function to makethings easier on your engineand conserve fuel.

2. Obey the speed limit. The U.S. Department ofEnergy notes that drivers payan additional $0.31 per gal-lon for every five miles theydrive over 60 mph. Driverswould be wise to obey thespeed limit and conservetheir fuel as well as theirmoney.

3. Don't make your vehi-cle into a traveling closet. Many drivers keep excessmaterials in their cars, whether it's a cooler for pic-nics, a set of golf clubs or anold baby stroller. Excessweight will rear its ugly headat the pump. An extra 100pounds in a vehicle canreduce its miles per gallonby as much as two percent.
