Hello Parents, I cannot believe we have already completed our first half term! The children have settled in so quickly, are already familiar with all our routines, and have been brilliant at joining in with all the learning and experiences we have going on in class. I am very proud of them all. Thank you so much for your continuing support. This week we have: RECEPTION: * Written and illustrated our news * Recapped all our letter sounds so far and had a go at word writing/sentence writing. * Practised our letter and number formation. * Taken part in our first Harvest service at church. On the way: picked up acorns, heard all about what gargoyles were for, Looked at the bell-pulls and watched how they are used on the whiteboard, saw the stocks and heard all about how they were used. * Made a diva to celebrate Diwali (our class challenge was to tell our parents the story of Rama and Sita). PRESCHOOL: news. * Told and illustrated our * Threading. * Pattern making. * Early letter formation patterns. * Drawing a person. EVERYONE: * Printed our name and some words too. * Listened to the story of Rama and Sita for Diwali (next Sunday). * Watched a Hindu girl prepare for, and then celebrate Diwali on the whiteboard, and looked at comparisons for special days we celebrate (food, decorations, special clothes etc). * Made some chalk Rangoli patterns on the playground to celebrate Diwali. * Took part in our Rainbow Day, celebrating Roald Dahl, and joined in activities such as: BFG dream jars, fantastic Mr. Fox oregami, saltdough, chocolate treats, quizzes, Golden Ticket design, marvelous medicine potions etc.
