(a) This part of the BoQ must be priced by a specialist

fire protection sub-contractors to reduce failure due

(b) The main contractor shall provide a CV or brochure

work starts for approval by engineer.

( c) Allow for the specialist fire protection sub-contractor

fire requirements of SANS (NBR) with special

reference to Part O, T and W in relation to

regulation and or the rational fire design

DID-E/M1 and Standard Quality Specification for

Ventilation and Air Conditioning- DID-E/M6

Fire Hydrants

All Fire Hydrants shall comply with the

requirements of SANS 1128-1.

1.0 Supply, install, test and commission Ø65mm Twin

Fire Booster connection complete with Plastic

material dust covers and connecting chain, 65mm

Pressure Gauge Adaptor with Ball Valve. Twin

booster shall be installaed at site entrance or in a

suitable position for access by the Fire Brigade. No. 1

Fire Hose Reels

fire hose reel fitted with 30m length of 20mm hose

mountedon wall bracket bolted to wall behind. The FHR to be

installed complete with 25mm chromium shut-off

valve, valve and a ø7mm aluminium nozzle and hose guide

FHR to be in red painted steel enclosures with

breakable glass and key.

1 and SANS 1067 with capillary type soldered

joints done in accordance with the manufacturer's

specifications, and installed in accordance with

SANS 10400:2011 and SANS 10252-1:2004,

including couplers in the running length, and all

necessary supports, fixing, brackets,saddles,

holderbats, etc, and colour-coded in accordance

with SANS 10140-3:2003:

All rates supplied in this bill of quantities will be

deemed to include scaffolding to any height and

All pipes suspended from concrete slabs, roof,

ceiling, etc, shall be deemed to include in the rates

all necessary hanger brackets, threaded rod

(irrespective of the suspension length), nuts,

washers, anchors and drilling of holes in the

concrete slab.

All hot water pipes are to be chased into walls

except where pipes are to be surface-mounted on

wall face or run in ceiling voids or inside ducts, and

fixed with standard type pipe saddles and brackets

at 1000mm maximum.

(l) Copper Pipework

Hard drawn copper pipes to SANS 460 and SANS

(m) Hot Water Supply

Straight copper piping not chased in walls but

surface-mounted fixed to walls, or in celing voids or

in service ducts are to be insulated with 25mm thick

pre-formed fibreglass sections (lagging) in

accordance with SANS 612:2007. The insulation

is to be clad in galvanised muffs secured with

10mm galvanised strapping and seal. Water proof

material and paint to be applied where the pipes run

below slab.Bends to be insulated with fibreglass

with 'Insulpro' hardsetting plaster protected with

gauze reinforced mastic.

Valves, strainers and flanges will not be insulated.

All materials and equipment, etc, are to be supplied

by the Contractor.
