    People may well search for you in different ways so make sure you include your full name, as

    opposed to initials. Having your full name can also come across as open and professional.

    You dont need to go too far back in time when it comes to listing the ins and outs. Unless

    33. Who are you and who needs you?

    Ask yourself these two questions before you jump into networking Does my profile

    represent me as a professional person? Who would potentially be interested in networkingwith me?

    34. Join a group

    When youve established whom it is that you want to get in touch with, find and join a group

    comprised of your target audience.

    35. Widen the search

    Think about throwing the net a little wider. What other industries could harbour potential

    clients? Do your skills translate elsewhere? Could your target market be increased? It never

    hurts to try as many avenues as possible.

    Start recommending people youve worked with in the past youll probably find theyll

    return the favor. Be careful to only recommend people you genuinely feel are professionalpeople; you dont want to get the blame if someone hires a useless person.

    The LinkedIn Toolbar for Outlook allows you to invite your Outlook contacts to network with

    you on LinkedIn.

    Who does Dave Smith know? Is there anyone in Patricia Jones network that could be a

    find.

    will give you an in from which you can then build on.

    48. Think about other social platforms

    You can strengthen your relationship with LinkedIn clients by following them on Twitter

    and if you get close enough, adding them on Facebook.

    49. Dont forget offline networking

    Everything doesnt have to be online. Use LinkedIn as a starting block, but dont forget how

    important face-to-face contact is invite your clients to dinner or drinks. Many people forget,

    or simply just choose to ignore this, so it can give you a good edge.

    When youve managed to confirm a meeting with that person you mined on LinkedIn, spend
