Stephen Ministry

Did you know?... That Jesus is truly present in us from 5 to 15 minutes after we receive communion? The graces last through the day. Sometimes we feel better than other times depending on how we take care and nurture those graces. Do we go on automatic pilot? Or, do we stay alert and think of Jesus throughout the day? We have an opportunity to receive Jesus everyday through the Eucharist at Mass. There is a Mass everyday at all times of the day somewhere close by. Life gets busy for everyone, however, we must remember that Jesus says, "Me before the world." If we can't make it to daily Mass, try to at least think of Him first thing in the morning and thank Him for your faith. While we are alive, is the only opportunity we have to thank Him.

Forgiveness Nearly ten years before, a son and father had parted ways when the business they shared went bankrupt. The son blamed the father. They did not speak to each other again. Then the father became seriously ill. The mother called the son and told him he had better come soon. The son walked sheepishly into the hospital room. The father motioned his son to him and whispered: “Did you ever think you could do anything that would keep me from loving you?” Resentment and anger are foul things, the first reading from Sirach tells us. Remember the last things. Stop hating. Live by the commandments. As Saint Paul writes to the Romans, we are to live for the Lord and die for the Lord. Jesus’ parable in today’s Gospel reminds us of God’s compassion. The immense sin of humanity has been forgiven and stricken from the record. We are to forgive others in the same way.

Questions of the Week

Question for Children: Jesus says we should forgive from our heart. When did you ask forgiveness of someone you hurt? How did you feel? Question for Youth: Jesus challenges us to forgive. Who needs your forgiveness? From whom do you need to ask forgiveness? Question for Adults: Jesus tells us to forgive seventy times seven, which means always and forever. Name a time this past week when you forgave someone. Name, too, a time when you accepted another person’s forgiveness.

“I was a stranger and you welcomed me…”

-Mt 25:34-35 REMEMBER

Fill out one of the Welcome Cards that are in the pews if you want more information about the parish, or to get more involved in parish activities. The cards are always available either in the pews or the podium in the Narthex. Once turned in you will get a call from one of the Welcome Committee members to greet you and help you

through the “maze” of information you may be wanting. For more information call Pat Kelly 760-399-2651.
