allies: so fear them not, but fear Me (allies: so fear them not, but fear Me (KHKHAA-FUU-NAA-FUU-N), if you ), if you

are [truly] believers!”are [truly] believers!”

““Say: “Allah alone do I worship, sincere in my faith in Him Say: “Allah alone do I worship, sincere in my faith in Him

Among the natural instinct (FITRAH) in mankind is that of “Fear”.

This is especially important for self-preservation, or in matters

which propel him avoid whatever is harmful or dangerous. Yet,

often fear can make a person to cowardly submit to falsehood or

imaginings and not to the truth or to Allah (the One Whom

mankind ought to fear).

Thus TAUHEED with the knowledge of Who Allah is, Islam

teaches Muslims to remove the misplaced fear of others, but

channel them to Allah and heed the warnings He gave, so that

man can seek His Mercy before it is too late.


Because of Allah’s justice, man must be warned that their actions

in this life can bring many adverse consequences or harm and

severe punishments, albeit, delayed or even in another life.

The fear of Allah, is in fear of His Wrath – the outcome of His

Justice. Yet, mankind generally is fearful of worldly things which

are temporal and inconsequential whereas the Reality of the

warning regarding that in the Hereafter is most severe and

eternal.


Only those who succumb to fear of Allah and this ultimate truth

of the Akhirah and make amends and motivated to seek

reparation while in this life of their sins- will have these evil

consequences averted from them.


We are constantly reminded that it is Allah that ultimate decides

our fate. Alas, many are deceived to be fearful of others even to the

extent of being disobedient to Allah. Whereas Allah reminds us:

Say: "Never can anything befall us save what Allah has Say: "Never can anything befall us save what Allah has

decreed! He is our Lord Supreme; and in Allah let the decreed! He is our Lord Supreme; and in Allah let the

believers place their trust!“believers place their trust!“

((Qur’an: Taubah: 9: 51Qur’an: Taubah: 9: 51))

stand before (the Judgment Seat of) their Lord, there will stand before (the Judgment Seat of) their Lord, there will

KHKHASHI-YAASHI-YA

““HAD WE bestowed this Qur’an from on high upon a HAD WE bestowed this Qur’an from on high upon a

mountain, thou wouldst indeed see it humbling itself, mountain, thou wouldst indeed see it humbling itself,

breaking asunder for awe of Allah (breaking asunder for awe of Allah (KHKHASH-YA-TILLAAHASH-YA-TILLAAH). ).

And [all] such parables We propound unto men, so that And [all] such parables We propound unto men, so that

The meaning of “KHASHIYA” means a sense of “awe” which is

linked to the knowledge of the grandeur and majesty of Allah

s.w.t. such that one becomes humbled and with reverence,

shame and dread which cause us to “melt ” into being totally

insignificant.

This attitude or inner feeling, is the outcome of profound

knowledge and realization of how “awesome” , an amazement

or wonder in our being after true meaning the signs (AAYAT )

we ‘read’ propel us to glimpse the Exaltedness and

Almightiness of Allah, the Creator, Sustainer of the entire

universe.


““ART THOU NOT aware that Allah sends down water from the ART THOU NOT aware that Allah sends down water from the

skies, whereby We bring forth fruits of many hues - just as in skies, whereby We bring forth fruits of many hues - just as in

the mountains there are streaks of white and red of various the mountains there are streaks of white and red of various

shades, as well as (others) raven-black, and (as) there are in shades, as well as (others) raven-black, and (as) there are in

men, and in crawling beasts, and in cattle, too, many hues? men, and in crawling beasts, and in cattle, too, many hues?

religious law for you, and have bestowed upon you the full measure of My religious law for you, and have bestowed upon you the full measure of My

blessings, and willed that self-surrender unto Me shall be your religion..”blessings, and willed that self-surrender unto Me shall be your religion..”

(Qur’an: Maa-idah: 5: 3(Qur’an: Maa-idah: 5: 3))


Our tendency to be impressed, awestruck etc. from our

knowledge and conviction of someone or something, is natural

and inevitable. Just like “KHAUF” , it is meant to be directed

towards realization of Allah, the One Who deserves our

attention.

Yet, because many do not go beyond the signs and the physical

or mundane to connect it with the Divine, it is possible for

them to only be amazed only in these signs. Some even deny

Allah.

These are mentioned by Allah as warning :


““And We have certainly created for Hell many And We have certainly created for Hell many

of the jinn and mankind. They have hearts of the jinn and mankind. They have hearts

with which they do not understand, they have with which they do not understand, they have

eyes with which they do not see, and they eyes with which they do not see, and they

have ears with which they do not hear. Those have ears with which they do not hear. Those

are like livestock; rather, they are more are like livestock; rather, they are more

astray. It is they who are the heedless.”astray. It is they who are the heedless.”

RA-JAARA-JAA

““VERILY, Allah does not forgive (VERILY, Allah does not forgive (SHIRKSHIRK) the ascribing of divinity to ) the ascribing of divinity to

aught beside Him, although aught beside Him, although He forgives He forgives any lesser sin (than any lesser sin (than SHIRKSHIRK) )

unto whomever He willsunto whomever He wills: for those who ascribe divinity to aught : for those who ascribe divinity to aught

As Believers, we uphold As Believers, we uphold TAUTAUHHEEDEED (Attestation to Oneness of (Attestation to Oneness of

Allah) and reject all forms of Allah) and reject all forms of SHIRK SHIRK (ascribing partners to Him), (ascribing partners to Him),

and although one dies with sins, yet we have been promised and although one dies with sins, yet we have been promised

forgiveness from Allah s.w.t.forgiveness from Allah s.w.t.

With With TAUTAUHHEEDEED, there is , there is HOPE.HOPE. Our Prophet Muhammad Our Prophet Muhammad

s.a.a.w. will intercede for sinful people of s.a.a.w. will intercede for sinful people of TAUTAUHHEEDEED , who may , who may

end up in hell ,and with Allah’s Mercy, bring them out into end up in hell ,and with Allah’s Mercy, bring them out into

Paradise.Paradise.

And even after death, believers who dies without any sin of And even after death, believers who dies without any sin of

SHIRKSHIRK , can benefit from the , can benefit from the Du’aDu’a from living believers seeking from living believers seeking

repentance, and follow Thy Path: and preserve them repentance, and follow Thy Path: and preserve them

“O Allah! I seek refuge with You from committing

SHIRK i.e. associating others with You, knowingly,

and I seek Your forgiveness from the committing of

the sins which I do not know.”(Hadith reported by Ahmad, Tabarani & Abu Ya’la)

‘‘O AllO Allaah, it is Your mercy that I hope for, so do not leave me in h, it is Your mercy that I hope for, so do not leave me in

charge of my affairs even for a blink of an eye and rectify for me charge of my affairs even for a blink of an eye and rectify for me

all of my affairs. None has the right to be worshipped except all of my affairs. None has the right to be worshipped except

O Allah! We beseech You help to make us to remember

and be grateful towards You, and make us serve

(worship) You in the best way.

“O my Sustainer (Lord)! ! Inspire me so that I may forever be

grateful for those blessings of Thine with which Thou hast

graced me and my parents, and that I may do what is right [in

a manner] that will please Thee; and include me, by Thy grace,

among Thy righteous servants!” (Qur’an: Naml: 27: 19)
