This year’s Special Christmas Offering focuses on disaster relief from the recent floods in South Carolina. There are two ways to participate in this year’s offering: First, we can provide a “Cleaning Bucket”. This bucket contains supplies that enable people to begin the overwhelming job of cleaning up after a flood or hurricane. Contents for the bucket cost around $65. An exact list of supplies is available on our website and in this Sunday’s bulletin. Plan to bring your “cleaning bucket” to the church as an offering during our Christmas Eve services. On December 26 th Bob Thomas will transport collected buckets to the Sager- Brown Depot in Baldwin, LA. The Depot is one of two such centers run by the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). ALL BUCKETS MUST BE AT THE CHURCH BY DECEMBER 24 TH . Second, we can fund the work of three mission teams from our congregation to aid in a flooded area in South Carolina. The exact dates and locations are yet to be determined. Those decisions are coordinated through United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM). Work team members will cover their own personal costs. The Christmas offering will supply material resources our teams will use to assist families during their work. Our tentative plans are to send three teams January-March of 2016. We will soon begin recruiting members for the work teams.
