What is the purpose of a music video?

• To promote.• To advertise the artist/band.• To create an image for the artist/band.• Extension of income.• Extensions of outlet (music channels, direct DVD and CD sales, website,

downloaded).• Synergy (films, TV programmes) producers strategies (major label,

independent, artist self- produced).

What is synergy?• Synergy is where different media companies come together and

work together to create a similar image. Synergy is used to market which is called cross media marketing, which is when different media companies come together to promote the artist or band.

Ways in which artists are promoted.

• Merchandise - Tops ,Cups. Pens etc.

• Put posters up around places or the artist.• Do tours or little gigs.• Buses • TV Adverts• Magazines • Social Networking sites- Twitter, Facebook, You tube etc.

How to promote my artist?

• To promote my artist:• Make up a twitter account and a fan page on facebook.• Put posters up of our artist.• Make up a you tube account of our artist singing and upload the

videos on to it.
