The Event

Do you have a video clip? Berlin Music Video Awards are waiting for you! The international scene is reaching the boiling point! Berlin, epicenter of today’s European artistic scene is ready for its own Music Video Awards. Berlin Music Video Awards is an unique opportunity for musicians and labels to meet the music video makers face to face in a cozy and inspiring atmosphere. It is also the ideal platform to get a right media exposure.

You have a video clip? What did you do with it? Our event will be the perfect stage for promoting your video. This is a rare meeting between brilliant music-video makers and musicians in a comfortable environment. The event will include live music from the Dirty Honkers, Mary Ocher and others, DJs, VJs, dancers,comedians and other performers. Some of Berlin’s most high-profile representatives from the music industry will be guests of honor at the Berlin Music Video Awards.

The guests of honor such as Hanin Elias from Atari Teenage Riot, Dr. Motte or Sebastian Roth (sin with Sebastian) will take part in the nomination process and contact their favorite participants for a video clip contract. The most interesting video submissions will be awarded.

The prizes will be a unique Berlin Music Video Awards trophy and a cash prize in addition to the glory and major press exposure. There are also several other prices related to the video music scene:

Program Presentation

VOTING DAYS, LECTURES, EXHIBITIONS In the first two days of the program public and people from the music\video industry will come to vote for their favorite videos from every category (music video marathon). In these days they will hear some lectures from professionals for example the production company Easy Does It about new technologies of making videos and how to have a good product with a low budget. As well, other visual artists will have the opportunity to display their works and skills.

THE CATEGORIES On the 3rd and 4th day we will have the ceremonies for every category separately, the makers of the videos and the bands will come to get the prize and meet other people from the industry in the cocktail events before and after the ceremony.

THE MAIN EVENT And finally, on the last day we will have one big ceremony with live performances, many guests of honor, jurors such as Dr. Motte (the founder of the famous love parade) and Babelsberg specialists. In this big ceremony the final prize to the best production will be given.

Berlin ist zweifelsfrei eines der Zentren der Gegenwartskunst geworden und verdient deshalb einen Music Video Award. Die Berlin Music Video Awards (kurz BMVA) stellen darum erstmals eine Plattform zur Verfügung, auf der Musiker und Labels in einer entspannten und gleichwohl inspirierenden Atmosphäre die Macher der Musikvideos kennenlernen und sich mit ihnen austauschen können.

Du hast einen Videoclip? Was tust du damit?

Unser Event schafft den geeigneten Rahmen zur Vermarktung deines Videos. In entspannter Atmosphäre findet ein Austausch zwischen ambitionierten Videokünstlern und Musikern statt. Die Veranstaltung umfasst Live Musik unter anderem von den Dirty Honkers und Mary Ocher, DJs, VJs, Tänzer, Comedians und weitere Künstler. Hochklassige Vertreter der Musikbranche wie zum Beispiel Hanin Elias von Atari Teenage Riot, Dr. Motte und Sebastian Roth (sin with Sebastian) werden als Ehrengäste am BMVA teilnehmen.

Ihre Teilnahme umfasst den ganzen Nominierungsverlauf, bis hin zur Kontaktaufnahme und Vertragsverhandlungen ihrer persönlichen Favoriten. Die interessantesten Beiträge werden ausgezeichnet und erhalten eine sonderangefertigte Trophäe, Sachpreise wie zum Beispiel die Nutzung eines Green Screen Studios für eine Tag, sowie Berichterstattung in der (inter)nationalen Presse. ABSTIMMUNGEN, LESUNGEN, AUSSTELLUNGEN Während der ersten zwei Tage des Programms werden die Öffentlichkeit und Vetreter der Musik- und Videoindustrie für ihre favorisierten Videos jeder Kategorie abstimmen (Musikvideo Marathon). An diesen Tagen werden auch einige Expertenlesungen unter anderem von der Produktionsfirma Easy Does It über neue Technologien des Filmemachens stattfinden und gezeigt, wie ein gutes Produkt auch mit einem niedrigen Budget entstehen kann. Darüber hinaus werden andere Visual Artists die Möglichkeit haben ihre Arbeiten und Fähigkeiten zu präsentieren.

DIE KATEGORIEN Am dritten und vierten Tag finden die Feierlichkeiten zu jeder Kategorie separat statt. Filmemacher und Bands werden zur Preisverleihung eingeladen, um ihre Preise zu empfangen und können dort Vertreter der Industrie während des Cocktail Events vor und nach der Veranstaltung kennenlernen.

DAS HAUPTEVENT Der letzte Tag beinhaltet eine große Feier mit Live Performances, Ehrengästen, Jurymitgliedern wie Dr. Motte (der Gründer der berühmten Loveparade) und Filmspezialisten aus Babelsberg sowie Journalisten führender Magazine. Während dieser Veranstaltung wird der Preis für die beste Produktion vergeben.

Participation

In order to properly reward the best video-makers in every category, the submitted videos are split in 10 main categories. Each one of these categories has ten nominated clips and, for each category, a winner will be appointed. Nominees from France, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland and other countries bring international scenes to this competition.

Category winners will be running for the “Best production Award”, which will allow to the best video-maker of all to get a trophy, a 1000 Euro amount, high media exposure and other desirable prizes. To other categories, prizes will also be given, like two tickets to the upcoming Melt Festival, for instance.

The winning process sees a qualified jury, the event audience and the internet users counting for one third each and deciding for the best clip.

The jury is made up of experts and representatives from the music industry, who will give their preference according to the expertise gained in their field of work and their personal taste. The vote of the Jury will count for 33,33 % (one third). Well-known artists like Hanin Ellias, ex-Atari Teenage Riot, and Dj’s Ellen Allien will be part of it.

The online Dailymotion users will also express their tastes putting a “like” on the videos and allowing their favourite videoclip for each category and for the best production prize to get better chances to win. During the first 10 voting days, there were already more than 100.000 views on BMVA’s channel (http://www.dailymotion.com/contests/user/berlinmusicvideoawards/1).Being popular on the Dailymotion platform will count also for one third.

The crowd in Villa Neukölln will also have the opportunity to express their references giving their vote to their favourite video-makers and counting for the 33,33 % of final votes. Whoever gets more popular among jurors, internet users and Villa Neukölln’s crowd will be the winner of Berlin Music Video Awards.

Ceremonies for every category will be held separately, the makers of the videos and the bands will be there to get the prize and meet other people from the industry during the cocktail events held both before and after the ceremony. Recalling that even a VJs competition will take place during the event, on the 27th Of April, at LUX.

Um die besten Video-Macher gebührend zu küren, werden die eingereichten Videos in 10 unterschiedliche Kategorien unterteilt. Jede dieser Kategorien hat zehn nominierte Clips, und für jede Kategorie wird ein Gewinner ernannt. Nominierte aus Frankreich, Österreich, der Schweiz, Irland und weiteren Ländern geben dem Wettbewerb internationales Flair.

Unter den Gewinnern der 10 Kategorien wird ein Filmemacher zusätzlich für den “Best Production Award” ausgezeichnet. Dieser erhält eine einmalige Trophäe und 1.000 Euro Preisgeld, sowie die Aufmerksamkeit der Medien und vieles mehr. In allen anderen Kategorien werden Preise, wie beispielsweise Tickets für das bevorstehende Melt Festival, vergeben.

Zu je einem Drittel wird durch eine qualifizierte Jury, dem Publikum vor Ort (während den ersten zwei Programmtagen) und den Internet-Nutzern beim Onlinevoting entschieden, welcher der beste Clip in den jeweiligen Kategorien ist.

Die Jury setzt sich aus Experten und Vertretern der Musikbranche zusammen, die ihre Präferenz nach ihrem Know-how, ihrer Erfahrung und ihrem persönlichen Geschmack auswählen. Die Stimme der Jury wird zu 33,33% (ein Drittel) gezählt.Namhafte Künstler wie z. B. Hanin Ellias (Ex-Atari Teenage Riot) und DJane Ellen Allien besetzen die Jurybank.

Die Online Dailymotion User können durch “like” Klicks bereits vorab für ihre Lieblings-Videoclips in jede Kategorie und für den Preis der „Best Production“ abstimmen und somit die Chancen für alle Künstler erhöhen zu gewinnen. Während der ersten 10 Tage des Onlinevotings gaben bereits mehr als 100.000 Besucher im BMVA TV-Kanal ihre Stimme ab (http://www.dailymotion.com/contests/user/berlinmusicvideoawards/1). Beliebtheit auf der Dailymotion-Plattform wird also auch zu einem Drittel gewertet.

Das Publikum in der Villa Neukölln, während den ersten zwei Programmtagen, erhält außerdem die Möglichkeit jeweils zu einem Drittel für ihre Favoriten in den 10 Kategorien abzustimmen. Wer die meisten Stimmen der Juroren, Internetnutzer unddem. Publikum vor Ort bekommt, wird der Gewinner der Berlin Music Video Awards sein.

Die Zeremonien werden separat für jede Kategorie abgehalten. Filmemacher, Bands und weitere Künstler werden vor Ort sein, um Preise entgegen zu nehmen und um sich während der Cocktail-Events vor und nach der Show auszutauschen und zu vernetzen. Des Weiteren findet ein VJ Wettbewerb während des Festivals, am 27. April, im LUX statt.

Villa Neukölln Presentation

In the very center of Neukölln (Berlin) one of the first filmtheatres of Germany is going to celebrate its 100 years. Through the years, it changed ownership and name many times. For a while, it was evennabandoned, collecting dust. This year it was reopened as Villa Neukölln and on the 24th of April, 2013 we have the honor of reopening this place as a cinema as well and bring you the first Berlin Music Video Awards. At our venue, we will have a V.I.P zone, a networking zone and of course, an after party for the winners, V.I.P guests and other lucky people.

Each day of the festival, there will be live shows from participating bands and film industry insiders showing off their skills. The ceremonies themselves will be hosted by top comedians from the Berlin English Comedy scene and other guests of honor. Good food and drinks with reasonable prices guaranteed. The event will be covered by many journalists from the biggest magazines and channels. The documentation of the ceremony will be sent to the nominated artists.

Villa Neukölln Präsentation

Vor 100 Jahren wurde im Herzen Berlins heutiger Schlagader Neukölln eines der ersten Kinos Deutschlands eröffnet. Im Laufe der Jahre wechselte es mehrmals Namen und Besitzer. Zwischenzeitlich war es sogar ganz geschlossen und fiel in einen Dornröschenschlaf. 2012 stand die Wiedereröffnung als Villa Neukölln fest und jetzt feiert es mit uns zusammen seine Wiederauferstehung als Kino zum ersten BMVA am 24. April 2013. Der Ort wird einen VIP Bereich, eine Network Station und typisch für Berlin auch eine Afterparty für die glücklichen Gewinner, Teilnehmer, VIPs und die Zuschauer

selbstverständlich offerieren. Zum Abschluß eines jeweiligen Tages stehen zu dem Livekonzerte u.a. der teilnehmenden Bands und anderer Künstler auf dem Programm, moderiert jeweils von einem der Stars der englischsprachigen Comedyszene. Die Preisgestaltung für Essen und Getränke wird moderat sein. Zudem werden zu den jeweiligen Veranstaltungen Journalisten aus den tonangebenden Magazinen und Zeitungen anwesend sein. Die Preisverleihung wird aufgezeichnet und steht am Ende des Festivals den nominierten Künstlern zur Verfügung.
