 What is a Paintball Marker Licence?   

The Paintball Marker Licence is a new licenceissued under the Firearms Act 1996, and wasintroduced by the Firearms (Further 

 Amendment) Act 2005 .

  The Paintball Marker Licence allows you to

own your own paintball marker or carry orotherwise possess a registered paintballmarker for the purpose of engaging in activitiesthat require the use of paintball markers atapproved paintball locations.

 What is a paintball marker?  

A paintball marker is a firearm that is designedto discharge a paintball.

A paintball is a projectile that primarily consistsof dye or similar substance that is designed tomark a person or object.

Who needs a Paintball Marker Licence?  

  A Paintball Marker Licence is required if you

own your own paintball marker;

  carry a paintball marker (e.g. to and fromapproved locations);

  otherwise possess a paintball marker whenyou are not at an approved location.

 Do I need a Paintball Marker Licence if Ionly want to participate in paintball

activities?     No. You do not require a Paintball Marker

Licence to participate in paintball activitiesusing paintball markers supplied at approvedpaintball locations.

Please note that to use paintball markers youmust not be a prohibited person and you mustbe 18 years of age or over.
