Pastor’s Corner

We have contracted with Sobrinski Painting, Inc. for the painting of the interior of the Church. We are scheduled to begin this project on Monday, July 16 and completed by Friday August 3. This means that we will not be able to use the Church during this time due to the scaffolding. All Sunday and weekday masses will be downstairs in the Social Hall. If we have a funeral during this time, I have arranged with St. Anthony or Our Lady of Lebanon to use their Church.

We will be bringing some color into the Church that blends with the outside colors. The wood floors also will be redone. It should look very beautiful and clean. Temporary inconvenience, permanent improvement. The total cost of the project is $95,000. We need your continued financial support through the Capital Improvement envelope. Thank you for your continued generosity.

This Sunday, the Church celebrates the birth of St. John the Baptist. He was the greatest of prophets who prepared the world for the coming of the Lord Jesus through his preaching of repentance. He challenged his hearers to turn away from sin. He gained much popularity as a prophet. One of his greatest sayings taken from the Gospel of John, “He must increase; I must decrease.” St. John recognized that his mission in life was to prepare the way of the Lord. He accomplished this task through his words and his actions. Ultimately, he was beheaded for his faithfulness to the moral teachings of the faith. The Scriptures tells us that from the time of his birth he was filled with the Holy Spirit.

The life of St. John the Baptist should inspire us. We too, through the Sacrament of Baptism and Confirmation, have been filled with the Holy Spirit. Although our particular circumstances differ, our lives should point to the real presence of Jesus Christ in the world. Through our example, our words, and our acts of charity, we too bring the presence of Jesus into the world.

The Office for Vocations, in conjunction with the Saint Andrew Committee, will be conducting its Sixth Annual Quo Vadis Vocation Camp and Fourth Annual Fiat Days Vocation Camp, from Sunday, July 15 to Thursday, July 19, 2018 on the campus of DeSales University. Both camps are open to young men and women from ages 14 to 18 (including the newly graduated). There are a limited number of spaces available. Oasis Picnic Area at Coca Cola park for an Iron Pigs game on Sunday, August 19th. Tickets are $28 each and include 2.5 hrs. of buffet lunch and a ticket to the game. Church has a treasury of prayers from her tradition. Each month we would like to highlight a specific prayer and invite you to pray it each day or even to memorize it where it will be secure within

your memory.

God our Father, we thank you for calling men and women to serve in your

Son’s Kingdom as priests, deacons, religious, and consecrated persons.

Send your Holy Spirit to help us respond generously and courageously to your call. May our community of faith support vocations of sacrificial love in our

youth.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, who

lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

2018 SACRED HEART PARISH PICNIC

The Annual Sacred Heart Church Picnic (Bath, PA) will be held on July 13, 14 and 15. Entertainment will be provided by the following bands: Friday, July 13, Still Kickin’ , Classic Rock Band, Saturday, July 14, Desire, Do-wop band and Sunday, July 15, Crazy Hearts, Country Band. Inflatable fun for the children each night along with a variety of games. Wide variety of foods including homemade pierogi, turkey and pork barbeque, rib eye steaks, funnel cakes, potato pancakes, and more. Clams Every Night! Come enjoy the great food and entertainment, Friday & Saturday from 5-11 pm & Sunday from 3-9 pm.

Our Lady's Missionaries of the Eucharist Invite You To: Fatima Evening, July 11, 2018 6 P.M. — 8 P.M.

Father Harry McCreedy will lead the July 11th Fatima Evening of Prayer for Peace and the Protection of the World at Our Lady’s Missionaries of the Eucharist in Birdsboro, PA. For the past 22 years, Father McCreedy has led Candlelight Rosary Devotions to Our Lady of Fatima at his parish. He is a prominent Fatima pilgrimage guide due to his special devotion to Our Lady of Fatima. This event includes Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Praying the Rosary, an Act of Consecration of Our Nation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Eucharistic Benediction, and the Holy Sacrifice of Mass.
