As we kick off the Manors’ (Naperville, South Holland and Westmont) Operation in full swing, we wanted to make sure everyone knows that these are locally operated facilities, are part of the Community where they are located and not some large National company. I am pleased to announce that South Holland will be participating in a food drive for The Greater Food Depository and Naperville and Westmont will be participating in a food drive for The West Suburban Food Pantry. All three facilities will have collection boxes in their lobbies for employees, visitors and community members to drop off non-perishable food for each facility to bring to the Pantries. Great items to donate are soups, peanut butter and tuna but anything non-perishable will be accepted. There will also be a donation box at Extended Care as well where we will divide up the donations received and get them to each of the facilities’ donation boxes. Why these charities? Older adults often live on fixed incomes and are at risk of food insecurity. In fact, 36% of the households served by these pantries include at least one person over the age of 60. They provide targeted support to reach this vulnerable population. Whether it is someone young or old – no one in the Chicagoland area should go hungry. The Manors are making their mark to help. Great work team! Stay warm.

All three facilities will have collection boxes in their lobbies for employees, visitors and community members to drop off non-perishable food for each facility to bring

to the Pantries.

Dyer Nursing and Rehab Social Worker Jenna Wheeler is living her Best Life!

Chateau Center would like to welcome, Tracy Cicic, their new Co-Director of Business Development. Tracy joins the team with over 20 years of health

care experience and has been marketing for skilled nursing for the last 7 years.

Welcome Tracy to ECC!

We are very excited to have you on the team!

Spotlight on Christine Hastings, Director of Environmental Services, Our Queen of Clean! Jenna Wheeler, Social Service Director at Dyer Nursing and

Rehabilitation started her career as a Social Worker in 2015. Before joining Team Dyer last year, Jenna was a Social Worker at Community Hospital working with geriatric patients. Jenna found her passion as she listened to their love stories and how they held it together through ups and downs, she viewed many pictures of loved ones and she saw how their bodies were no longer able to do what they used to do and how time flies by so fast. Jenna heard many happy stories but also many sad stories. She noticed that most of the people she was helping were very lonely. Seeing the amount of assistance this population really needed helped her decide what she needed to do to make a difference. Jenna’s goal, along with her husband is to open a “caregiving home.” This home will provide 24 hour care to an estimated 6 to 8 seniors at a time. In Jenna’s free time she has been working with her husband Billy, her attorney and her family to make her dream come true. Jenna is hosting many upcoming fundraisers to help make this vision come to fruition.

In June this year Jenna is hosting a Wheel, Walk and Roll Event at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Crown Point, Indiana, raising awareness on elderly loneliness. It is a 1K Family Walk and 3K run. Seniors 65 years and older are free and those using wheelchairs and rolling walkers are encouraged to attend. It will be an afternoon of fun and awareness and and there will be over 70 participating vendors including Dyer Nursing and Rehabilitation and Sheffield Manor. If you are interested in bringing any of your seniors please reach out to Jenna Wheeler at [email protected] or call her at 219. 808.5082. We wish Jenna all the luck in her journey and will continue to be grateful for her servants heart and be glad for the days she is still part of team Dyer!

Christine would like to thank her entire

Environmental Services team for all they do

every day and she wouldn’t be successful

without their fabulous teamwork approach!

Whats “Popping” at Lakewood?

Bob Budd has been volunteering as Bob the Popcorn guy at Lakewood for the

past 17 years. Bob is retired and lives in the Plainfield area with this family. He

previously had a garden that was located close to Lakewood and would pass the

facility every day on his way to tend to his garden. 17 years later he is still active in

bringing joy to the staff with various toppings and great conversation. Staff and

visitors enjoy visiting with Bob and look forward to his Thursday visits. Thank you

Bob for all the joy you have brought to us at Lakewood! We look forward to many

more years of you “popping” in!
