Managed Care has become in a lot of ways the “insurance of choice” for those people under States Medicaid program. In addition, Medicare continues to explore options for Medicare recipients like “Medicare Advantage” programs. What does this mean for our residents- or potential residents? It could mean additional benefits like less out of pocket costs for Medications or longer coverage than the 100 days of traditional Medicare. But it could also mean a restriction of choice for health care services. Usually Managed Care programs have a network that they work with and they have negotiated specific rates for services. If the facility, (Dr., therapy, etc.) that the Senior chooses is in network- great but if it is not in network Seniors could be faced with going to a health care provider (facility) they didn’t choose. What does this mean for our staff? It means we have to ensure potential admissions are approved for our facility’s care and services before admission. It means we have to understand different insurance companies’ policies of care, billing, etc., instead of just 2 programs: Medicaid and Medicare. Managed Care programs have value for both the Senior Citizen and the provider and they are here to stay. All of us – consumers, health care providers, advocates need to make sure we do everything we can to understand the choice model of which program provides the right program, the best coverage and allows the consumer to choose their health care providers. Sebo’s Shining Star!Sebo’s would like to take a moment

to recognize Gloria Green as there

“Shining Star!” Gloria has worked

as a restorative aid for Sebo’s Nursing

and Rehabilitation Center since

1979!! There is never a day that goes

by that Gloria is not smiling and

showing kindness to the residents as

well as her co-workers. Gloria never

goes by anyone without a smile or hug.

We are lucky to have Gloria as part of “Team Sebo’s”.

Gloria is a true blessing.

10 Years of Service Sebo’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center would like to congratulate Jackie Crawford, Restorative QMA; Pam Collins, Activity Director; and Kiva Green, Evening Nurse on ten years of service. We would like to thank them for their services as well as let them know how much we appreciate all that they do. All three of these lovely ladies go out of their way to work with staff and help keep recruitment and retention of staff a priority.

The staff and Residents of Grasmere Place would like to take this time to thank Martin

Ryan, R.N. After 8 years as the Director of Nursing at Grasmere Place, Martin has accepted

a position with Extended Care Clinical, LLC.. Martin assumed his new role as Regional

Director of Clinical Services for the Psych facilities within the company. Martin’s dedication,

compassion, and understanding for patients under his care is outstanding and many residents

have benefited by his professional demeanor and knowledge of Psycho/ Social Nursing.

The staff and Residents wish him nothing but success in his new endeavor. He will be

greatly missed by Grasmere, but now his expertise can be shared by more residents.

Good Luck Martin.

Congratulations!Please join us in congratulating

LaQwana Lane, Health Information

Manager in her new position at The

Estates of Hyde Park.

LaQwana Lane’s career at The

Estates of Hyde Park started in

November 2015. “Q” as she likes to

be referred to started in the Nursing

Department in two roles. One role

was as a Scheduler and the other as a

Certified Nursing Assistant. In June

2016, Q applied for the position of

Health Information Manager (HIM).

Q did receive this “Promotion!” Her

passion is working with seniors as she

has been working with them for the

last 7 years. Her future aspirations is

to receive her Bachelor Degree in

Health Administration.

Again, promotions are

soaring at

The Estates of Hyde Park.

Wheaton decided to beat the heat and celebrate National Ice Cream Day by having an ice cream bar for the staff. The sweet treats provided a cool down and much needed comic relief!

This quarter, at the Town Hall Meeting, Wheaton had a resident art show. All residents were encouraged to submit their art to be displayed for the families and staff attending the meeting. After the formal meeting, the show was opened for the residents to view their peers work. The art show drew quite a positive response from the residents and a future art show was requested.
