“Breast Cancer Awareness Month at the Park!”

“Think Pink” was the slogan at Park House for the month of October and fundraising was the name of the game. Park House had several events to raise money to aid in the fight for a cure. Nyeka Williams, DON, spearheaded the project and Johnnie Williams, Activity Director hosted each fundraiser. Employees were also able to purchase pink by giving a dollar for ribbons, pens and bracelets. On behalf

of the employees at Park House, donations were split between Pink Dolphins and the National Cancer Awareness Foundation. This was an especially important event for Park House, since two of our employees have fought and won a battle with breast cancer! Nicole Redmond, CNA, and Jessica Lee, Receptionist. Nicole Redmond fought the battle twice and won! She sold t-shirts at Park House for her group” Pink Dolphins” for the “Breast Cancer Awareness Walk.” On October 22, 2016. Nicole, her family, and LaCrista Myles, Business Development Director all walked in support of Nicole and everyone else that have fought the fight! You

Dietary week was lots of fun! Our dietary staff had a tailgate party and wore they favorite team jerseys and caps. The week of celebration was closed out with a very nice sit-down dinner. On “Bosses Day”, the whole team surprised the Administrator Mike Hunter with an

Edible Arrangement to show their appreciation for his leadership. To highlight Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Activity director Francis Jackson presented gift baskets to two staff members who are cancer survivors. Team members also wore key chains and pins to show their support.

Can you believe it? Fall is already upon us, and here a Prairie Manor that means our annual Oktoberfest. The staff at Prairie Manor are always excited to come together to celebrate this yearly event. We danced, celebrated and enjoyed some German favorites of brats and sauerkraut, potato pancakes and German chocolate cake. There was even dancing to be had by everyone, including staff, our residents and the lively group from the Chicago Heights senior center. Oktoberfest is one of the top celebrations we host here at Prairie Manor and look forward to many more of these celebrations in the future.

Briar Celebrates National Food Service WeekDuring National Food Service Week, Briar Place treated its Dietary Staff to a well-deserved delectable lunch from Por-tillo’s. The Dietary staff work very hard at Briar in order to meet all of the resident nutritional needs and we appreciate them very much. As we all know, nutrition is key “ingredi-

ent” to meeting the resident’s physical and psychological needs. So a big Thank You to Cheryl and her team for all of the great work! HAPPY FOOD SERVICE WEEK!!
