CAMERA WORK

When I was fi lming my music video, it was very important that I captured the shots of the band together and at a live gig to make the video seem more like the genre of the song which is pop punk rock. Furthermore, during my planning and research I wanted to pick ideas for the video that fi tted the genre of the song as it was important that the video fi t in with the genre. When research of existing product I saw a similar occurrence in all pop punk rock video which was the close ups of the band members playing their instruments therefore I used the same ideas for my music videos. This is an idea that I used that conformed to stereotypes of a pop punk rock band. When using a camera I also used many close ups of the main singer as well as the band member when they were performing.

EDITING AND SOUND

There are many editing techniques that I have used, in the beginning of the music video I used many jump shots to show diff erent shots of London to establish scenery. I used these shots at

the beginning of the music video and to cut in between different shows of London. This is seen as a code and convention due to the fact that camera is a code when creating a video, I increased my knowledge when making this video as it was fun to film at a live gig full of our target audience.

MISE-EN-SCENE

Mise-en-scene was important for my music video. I used a stage and stage lights with diff erent colours therefore making is seem like a concert. When I was fi lming the band they were performance live in front of our target audience.

The props used were:MicrophonesA camera TripodDrumsGuitars (ELECTROIC)Setting that I used for the music vide are:School (green room)Croydon (scream lounge) London (the city was also used as the setting for my

music video)

PERFORMANCE

This is one of the codes and conventions that I have stuck to and used throughout my music video. The performance of our music video is based on the song choice. Carlson argued that for a music video to be a performance it needs to have the following:

Narrative: The narrative of the song is that the lead singer has lost the love of his l ife, however I chose to not have a girl in my music video.

Song: The song choice had already has a narrative attached to it but I chose to not follow the codes and conventions that Michael Shore theory included therefore I chose to not have a female in the music video.

Instrumentals: The song has many aspect when on the instruments are used to show the feeling of the musician.

However, Goodwins argued that there needs to be a connection between the lyrics and the video. Even if I did not want to add a girl to the music video, you saw the journey the lead singer as he is making his way to the girls house. Therefore creating a connection between the lyrics and the video.
