ADVENT PENANCE SERVICE

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 20TH 7 PM

Page 3: Corpus Christi Catholic Church · 2017-12-08 · Corpus Christi Catholic Church 6175 Datil Pepper Road St. Augustine, FL 32086 December 10, ... to write a letter to Jesus. Dear Jesus,

From The Pastor’s Desk

Dear Parishioners,

Do not forget about our upcoming Parish Christmas Party on Saturday, December 16th immediately following the 4 p.m. Vigil Mass. If you intend on coming and are bringing friends and family mem-bers, please make sure you sign up for the dinner so that we can get a better grasp of how much food we need to prepare. This is going to be a bigger cel-ebration than years past. We are going to have de-licious food with lots of tasty desserts and beer and wine. And, of course, we will be singing Christmas songs with yours truly! And, I understand that the man from the North Pole is going to make a special appearance. “So, you better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, I’m telling you why…” As I mentioned last weekend, do not forget that we have an Advent Parish Penance service on Wednes-day, December 20th @ 7 p.m. We have a number of priests coming to hear your confessions. And again, I want to remind everyone that the Sun-day morning mass schedule will officially change on the first weekend of January 2018, 6th and 7th. It will be 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. & 11 a.m. Christmas Mass schedule is as follows: Christmas Eve 4 p.m. & 8 a.m. (There is no Midnight Mass this year) and Christmas Day 8:30 a.m. & 11 a.m. [Remember that you have two obligations to fulfill that weekend!]

And now some funnies:

Little Johnny went to his mother demanding a new bicycle. His mother decided that he should take a look at himself and the way he acts. She said, "Well Johnny, it isn't Christmas and we don't have the money to just go out and buy you anything you want. So why don't you write a letter to Jesus and pray for one instead." After his temper tantrum his mother sent him to his room. He finally sat down to write a letter to Jesus.

Dear Jesus, I’ve been a good boy this year and would appreci-ated a new bicycle.

Your Friend, Little Johnny

Now Little Johnny knew that Jesus really knew what kind of boy he was (Brat). So, he ripped up the letter and decided to give it another try.

Dear Jesus, I've been an OK boy this year and I want a new bi-cycle. Yours Truly, Little Johnny

Well, Little Johnny knew this wasn't totally honest so he tore it up and tried again.

Dear Jesus, I’ve thought about being a good boy this year and can I have a new bicycle? Signed, Little Johnny

Well, Little Johnny looked deep down in his heart, which by the way was what his mother was really wanting. He crumpled up the letter, and threw it in the trashcan and went running outside. He aim-lessly wandered about; depressed because of the way he treated his parents and really considering his actions. He finally found himself in front of a Catholic Church.

Little Johnny went inside and knelt down, looking around not knowing what he should really do. Little Johnny finally got up and began to walk out the door and was looking at all the statues. All of a sudden he grabbed a small one and ran out the door. He went home hid it under his bed and wrote this letter.

Jesus, I've broken most of the Ten Commandments; shot spit wads in school, tore up my sister's Barbie doll and lots more. I'm desperate. I've got your mama. If you ever want to see her again, give me a bike. Signed, You know who - Fr. Murphy
