IF THE FONT IS TO BE BLESSED.The Office having been said, the Priest and Ministers, vested inviolet, go up to the Altar, and after the reverence, the Priest kissesit in the centre, and they go to the sedilia. Then are read the sameProphecies (without title) as at the Easter Vigil, the candles of thealtar being unlighted up to the beginning of the Mass. At the end of the Prophecies are said the Collects without Let us bow the knee.After the last Collect the Celebrant and Ministers descend to theFont during the Tract. Ps. 42. Like as the hart. But where the Font is not blessed, when the last Prophecy andCollect are ended the Celebrant lays aside his chasuble and with theMinisters lie prostrate before the Altar: and all kneeling the Litanyof the Saints is chanted. But when has been said the final repetitionof R. Good Lord deliver us , the Priest and Ministers arise, and go tothe Sacristy to array themselves in red vestments for the SolemnMass; and meanwhile the Altar candles are lighted. At the end of

the Litany, Kyrie eleison is solemnly intoned, and repeated asusual. This having been begun the Priest and the Ministers proceedto the Altar, and make the Confession: then going up, the Priestkisses the Altar, and censes it in the accustomed manner. The Kyrieeleison being finished, Gloria in excelsis is solemnly begun and the bells are rung.

Lo, the new King's Table gracing, This new Passover ofblessing Hath fulfill'd the elder rite;

Now the new the old effaceth, Truth reveal'd theshadow chaseth, Day is breaking on the night.

What he did at Supper seated, Christ ordain'd to berepeated, His memorial ne'er to cease:

And, his word for guidance taking, Bread and wine we

hallow, making Thus our Sacrifice of peace.This the truth to Christians given, Bread becomes his

Flesh from heaven, Wine becomes his holy Blood.

Doth it pass thy comprehending? Yet by faith, thysight transcending, Wondrous things areunderstood.

Yea, beneath these signs are hidden Glorious things tosight forbidden; Look not on the outward sign.

Wine is pour'd and Bread is broken, But in either

sacred token Christ is here by power divine.Whoso of this Food partaketh, Rendeth not the Lord

nor breaketh: Christ is whole to all that taste.

Thousands are, as one, receivers; One, as thousands ofbelievers, Takes the Food that cannot waste.

Good and evil men are sharing One repast, a doompreparing Varied as the heart of man;

Doom of life or death awarded, As their days shall berecorded Which from one beginning ran.

When the Sacrament is broken, Doubt not in eachsever'd token, Hallow'd by the word once spoken,Resteth all the true content.

Nought the precious Gift divideth, Breaking but thesign betideth, He himself the same abideth, Nothingof his fullness spent.

E beseech thee, O Lord: that like as we in theseour oblations do show forth in a mystery the

unity and concord of thy Church; so thou wouldestever mercifully bestow upon her these thy blessings;through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth andreigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost,ever one God, world without end. Amen.

RANT, we beseech thee, O Lord: that we who in

these outward tokens have been made partakersof thy most precious Body and Blood; may after thislife be replenished with the fruition of thy gloriousGodhead; who livest and reignest with the Father, inthe unity of the Holy Ghost, ever one God, worldwithout end. Amen.
