“Welcome Jesus at Christmastime, not in a cold manger, but in hearts warm with love for others!” ... A very hearty and warm welcome to all who join us for Christmas, to the many home with family for the holidays, and to all who make a special ef-fort to get to church to celebrate the birth of Christ, the real gift! Welcome! ... Our Christmas celebrations begin on Monday (24), Christmas Eve, with two Children’s Masses, one at 4:00pm led by our Saint John School chil-dren, and a second at 6:00pm led by our children from Religious Education. Then we have a Family Mass at 8:00pm, with the grand ‘midnight’ Mass at 11:00pm. Join us! ... On Tuesday (25), Christmas Day, our Masses are at 7:30am, 9:00am, 10:30am, and 12:00pm (Spanish). Christ is born! ... The religious Christmas season extends from Christmas Eve (24), through the feast of the Bap-tism of the Lord, on Sunday (13). ... Our great Saint John School children truly have the Christmas spirit, so evident in their wonderful Christmas musical programs. Very inspiring! Our children return to the classroom on Monday (7). ... The Christmas flowers and décor are a wonder-ful way to remember our loved ones over the entire Christmas season. Special envelopes are still available at the back of the church. ... Our endeavor to create a Parish Pictorial Al-bum, a Parish Book, is on-going. We are striving to capture something of the faith and vitality of Saint John the Evangelist, from Melrose to Encinitas Blvd, from 1946 to 2012 and beyond! Tell us about the great characters and the mighty stories. Write them down, and give them to us! Photos, too, are much appreciated, and will be returned to you. ... To schedule your appointment for our Parish Book, stop by the Gazebo, drop-by the Parish Of-fice or visit www.saintjohnencinitas.org Appoint-ments are available through January 12, and again from February 10. Make sure you are in! ... Remember, it is free! You get a photo and a copy of the book! And it will be a great keepsake! ... In putting together our publication, we are seeking, and would appreciate, the help of Graphic Artists, lay-out folk, and people with media skills. ... 241 families have contributed $9,582.00 towards the Retirement Fund for Religious! Thank you!

... Our bulletin cover this week is a photo of the stained-glass window, donated by John and Adela Stanton to our old Saint John Church in 1946. All the stained glass windows from the old church now adorn our Parish Office Conference Room! ... Be sure to find time over the Christmas to visit the beautiful Crib Scene in the church. Bring the children and grandchildren, and tell the story! The church is open daily until 5:00pm. ... Our Religious Education classes for Grades 1-6 and Junior High, resume the week of Monday (7), and for our High School, the week of Sunday (13). ... $15,781.00 was contributed last weekend (16) with 460 families using parish envelopes. A further $4,767.00 was contributed online! ... How about signing-up for ‘Online Giving’? Just go to our website, and ‘click’ ‘Online Giving’ and away you go! 191 families contribute online! ... Be sure to visit our parish website at www.saintjohnencinitas.org and our school website at saintjohnschool.com for events, pictures and more. ... Wednesday (26) is the feast of Saint Stephen, a Deacon, and the first disciple to be martyred. ... John the Evangelist died around 100 AD at Ephe-sus. He was the son of Zebedee, and the brother of James. He is referred to as the ‘disciple whom Je-sus loved’! He authored three letters, the Book of Revelation and the most spiritual of all the Gospels. His symbol is the eagle. He is patron of Asiatic Turkey. We are proud to embrace him as our par-ish patron. His feast day is this Thursday (27). Happy Feast Day! ... Friday (28) is the feast of the Holy Innocents, those infants massacred after the birth of Jesus! ... Next Sunday (30) we celebrate the feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. ... Ring-in the New Year with us at a special Family Mass on Tuesday (1) at 9:00am. ... Our Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament resumes on Wednesday (26), after the 8:00am Mass, and continues 24 hours a day, seven days a week, ex-cept for Sundays from 7:00am to 6:00pm. Come along and spend some quiet time with the Lord! ... Cars have been recently interfered with on our parking lots. Please do not leave valuables visible in your vehicle! Sorry! ...“You better watch out ... you better not cry ... a greater than Santa is on his way!” ... A very Happy and Holy Christmas to all!

¿Quién soy yo, para que la madre de mi Señor

venga a verme?
