“God’s grace within me and God’s strength behind

me can overcome any hurdle ahead of me!”

... Cesar Chavez was born in Yuma, AZ, on March

31, 1927. He dropped out of 7th Grade in elemen-

tary school to become a full-time migrant farm

worker, because he did not want his mother to

work in the fields. He went on to become a great

Labor leader and Civil Rights activist. With Dolores

Huerta, he co-founded the National Farm Workers

Association. He died on April 23, 1993, in San

Luis, AZ. Monday (31) was ‘Cesar Chavez Day’, a

State holiday in California, Colorado and Texas.

... ‘Cesar Chavez: History is Made One Step at a

Time’ is an inspiring movie/documentary on his

wonderful life, currently in our movie theatres.

Torn between his duties as a husband and father and

his commitment to bring dignity and justice to oth-

ers, Chavez embraced non-violence as he battled

greed and prejudice in his struggle for the rights of

farm workers. His triumphant journey is a remark-

able testament to the power of one individual’s abil-

ity to change the system. Check it out!

... On Thursday (27), Pope Francis raised the

plight of immigrants in our country with our Presi-

dent at the Vatican, and on Tuesday (1), Cardinal

Sean O’Malley from Boston celebrated Mass at the

steel-fenced border in Nogales, AZ, drawing atten-

tion to the ethical and moral imperative for immi-

gration reform.

... Today (6) we have the opportunity to lend our

support to our Annual Lenten Collection in sup-

port of the great work of Catholic Relief Services

throughout the world, the Church in Latin America,

and the Church in Africa. Please use the special en-

velopes provided.

Service, at 7:00pm. There will be many visiting

priests to assist us. Forgiveness!

Elizabeth Seton on Monday (7) and Saint James on

Wednesday (9), both at 7:00pm, and Mission San

Luis Rey on Saturday (12), at 10:00am.

this Friday (11) from 5:00pm to 9:00pm in the

Hall, with Fun Bingo from 7:00pm.

Friday (11) at 6:00pm, in the church.

... To date, 775 families have contributed

$20,299.00 in response to Father Pat’s appeal for

the Benedictine Monastery of Saint Bernard, in

Calabar, Nigeria. Thank you so much! Wow!

group meets this Tuesday (8) at 1:45pm in the Hall.

So, this Tuesday (8), ‘Park and Pray’! Call Mary at

760 445-2022. All are welcome!

School Mass this Wednesday (9), and travel the

‘Stations of the Cross’ this Friday (11) at 1:50pm.

… How about volunteering to be a chairperson of

one of our Fiesta 2014 committees? Contact Mark

ning Meeting is on Tuesday (15), 7:00pm.

great leadership team!

tion of the Most Blessed Sacrament, 24 hours, ex-

cept during Sunday Masses. Come by and visit!

punto. Viviremos para

siempre.

De manera seca, sin

rodeos, la lectura de la

carta de san Pablo a

los romanos nos

enseña que nuestros

“cuerpos mortales”

resucitarán. Pero de

m a n e r a m á s

amaba a Lázaro.
