• 1937 scholarship fundraiser features a “boardwalk with brightly colored shops and booths.”
• Card party at the Hotel Cleveland
• 1941 - tickets sold to win a $50 war bond raising $322.55
• Also in 1941, idea for international fair is dropped as the Army has taken over the Auditorium and is a lack of transportation.
• 1952 – “Personalized Fashion Clinic” at WHK Studio – billed as “an event that may change your life” for $1.25 ticket

“purse secretaries” and plastic raincoats
• Card parties continue through the 1950s to the 1970s.
• Club sells mother of pearl Z pins from the Philippines' Club in 1971
• A “Zonta Zaar” is held in 1973 with each of over 20 committees hosting a booth – raises $1575
• 1974 - $150 is collected for Health Hill on the Christmas party money tree
• 1979 –art auction held at St. Anne’s Church nets $1036.50

• 1974 – An “open Zonta meeting” held in Gold Room of Sheraton-Cleveland Hotel to celebrate the club’s gift of $5000 to the community and to publicize the club’s mission. It is planned to send 5-6,000 invitations to get 500 guests. At a later meeting, the event is called an “unqualified success.”

infirmed” at City Hospital purchased with $2 donation from each member
• 1931 – Contributions to send needy children from Alta Settlement House to summer camp & 3 “needy women” from Benjamin Rose Institute –food to Cleveland Boys’ Home
• 1942 – 2 Readers’ Digest subscriptions purchased for the VA Hospital along with cigarettes for 5 cents a pack (at the hospital’s request)
• 1942 – Donate fabric to Blossom Hill School for Girls so they can make drapes for their Sun Room
• Members encouraged to donate blood, make surgical bandages and volunteer at the USO and VA Hospital
• 1943 – club purchases $500 in bonds to buy jeeps for the Army & donate books to Public Library Victory Book Campaign for the Army and Navy

• Club donates TV to Blossom Hill
• 1952 – Club participates in Civilian Defense activities including hosting speaker on “personal action in an emergency,” handing out “It Can’t Happen Here” brochures and enrolling in Red Cross First Aid courses

State Hospital
• Members serve on advisory and study committees for Sunny Acres, Rehabilitation Dept. of State Dept. of Education, Chronic Hospital, City Hospital & Cleveland State Hospital
• 1952 – Fruitcake sent to Zonta Club of London for Christmas; coffee, cocoa & linen hankies sent to Helsinki Club
• 1955 – 100 dictionaries donated to Sunny Acres & $50 to an “investigated” family to purchase a bed for their handicapped child
• 1956 - $50 donated to Rehabilitation Center to purchase an artificial leg for a female diabetic amputee
• 1965 – monthly birthday gifts continue along with visits and donations to Ward D patients of State Hospital
• Donations to Camps and Hospitals continue into the 1980s
• 1971 – Safety Committee distributes medic alert bracelets to qualified people

States is sent to the Rotterdam Club – they “prize” it so much, they use it as a raffle it to raise service funds
• 1974 - $500 donated to Woodruff Hospital named in honor of late Cleveland Zontian, Norma Woodruff
• 1978 - $100 donated to Tremont Community Learning Center and $150 to Health Hill Hospital for Children
• 1978 - $200 each to Salvation Army for Camp Neosa for women and Metzenbaum Children’s Home, $400 to Camp Ho Mida Koda, $100 to Appalachian Library & $700 to Vocational Education Program

• 1978 - $300 for a CSU scholarship
• $300 scholarships offered to the first “VIP class” club sponsored at Thomas Jefferson Junior High School – to be an annual award to graduates of program for up to 4 years per girl
