Life Goes on at the School Farm
Lambing has started and there are now two sets of twins at
the school farm, three ewe lambs and a ram lamb all doing
well. Jason, the farm manager has done an amazing job of
maintaining feed for our ewes throughout the drought
supplementing the grass by planting cow peas once the
rain came. Recently, we planted a paddock with
ryegrass and this is coming up really well and will be ready
to eat off when the lambs are about 4-6 weeks old. This is
when the demand on their mothers for milk will be greatest,
so perfect timing!
Students will enjoy handling the lambs and we will get new
chicks next term.

I would like to say that it is wonderful to have all of our
students at school each day of the school week. We
missed you and our students missed school and their
friends.
The highly professional staff of Woolgoolga High School
are working hard to deliver quality educational opportuni-
ties. We provide a rich, varied curricular and extra-
curricular school life for all of our students. To this end
we are continually, and optimistically, planning for events
and activities so that we can hit the ground running when
certain restrictions are lifted. We are looking forward to
activities including, and not restricted to, excursions,
incursions, careers events, work experience, interschool
sporting, the full range of school sports including sporting
carnivals.
Classes are all running in a very similar fashion to how
they were before the restrictions while we all need to
continue abiding by the current safety guidelines. There
are still restrictions on some extra-curricular activities.
Our focus is on what we can do and that is to provide a
world-class education to the students of Woolgoolga
High School. The rich array of additional experiences
that have always been a part of Woolgoolga High and
enriches the school life of our students is also returning
and we look forward to continuing to support everything
that makes this school a quality school.
I ask everyone to support critical safe practices. Students
must bring water bottles and equipment. Students are
not to share food, drink, or equipment. Safe hygiene
practices are crucial, including thorough washing of
hands as well as correct covering of the mouth when
coughing and sneezing.
Just an early heads-up on the involvement of some of
our wonderful students in a community project at
Arrawarra. The Arrawarra Project has incorporated the
artwork of ten students from Woolgoolga High. If you get
the chance to have a look at the works in progress,
please do. It looks absolutely beautiful.
From the Principal’s Desk
The Academic Achievement Centre is a great success and
is open for business again. Many of our students continue to
benefit from the support and tuition given every Thursday
afternoon in the library.
There will be more news to come as it nears comple-
tion. Our students are also getting involved, along
with students from Sandy Beach Public School in the
Sandy Beach Upgrade Project, so there will be more
to celebrate there. It is fantastic to see students from
Woolgoolga High being involved in community works
and being so successful in those endeavours.
Mathematics is having an absolute renaissance at the
moment with our staff and students developing a
fantastic learning space and with so many mathemati-
cians getting involved in the maths riddle competition.
More news on the learning space soon as the finish-
ing touches are being made. Behind this engagement
with maths is a strong commitment by Woolgoolga
High to support numeracy and its growth by commit-
ting to the ongoing development of our resources,
staff, and student outcomes.
The Academic Achievement Centre is a great
success and is open for business again. Many of our
students continue to benefit from the support and
tuition given every Thursday afternoon in the library. It
is open to everyone, please come along and take
advantage of the help offered by experts in every field
of secondary education.
Thank you to all of the parents and carers in our
school community who continue to work with us for
the best possible outcomes for your children. Keep
safe and keep in touch with what is happening at this
fantastic school, Woolgoolga High School.

During the school shutdown we had an abundance of
cucumbers the students had grown which we donated to
various places around town. Now students are back at
school they are able to take some of the vegetables they
have grown home. Vegetable growth will slow up now
with the cold weather. They have been enjoying eating
the oranges, tangelos and lemonades that we grow at
the farm.
News from the school farm
I am thrilled with the work of some of the Agricultural
students who undertook various practical tasks at
home, as well as completing their online learning.
Some of them planted vegetables, some built
various structures at home and some documented
how they look after their pets. Many holes were dug
in gardens to look at soil texture and structure,
which I hope were filled in afterwards! This way of
learning certainly suited some of you. Thank you for
having a go at the activities and thank you to
those parents who helped.

Design the logo that goes on the door to our
new study space. You need to include:
• The name of the room which is Numberland
• The size should be at least A4
• The winning design will be displayed on the
door to the room so the more eye catching it
is the better.
Submit your designs to Mrs Rosenberg in the
Maths staffroom by the end of the term.

The theme for Reconciliation Week 2020 is “In
this together”. This is now resonating in ways
they could not have foreseen when they
announced it last year, but it reminds us
whether in a crisis or in reconciliation we are
all #InThisTogether.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions, we were unable
to celebrate Reconciliation week in our usual
fashion. Instead, on Wednesday 27 May, the
start of Reconciliation week, an acknowledg-
ment to country was given in every homeroom
as a sign of respect and solidarity.
National Reconciliation Week
Maths Riddle
Dean, Sam and Castiel are three
brothers. Interestingly, their current
ages are all different prime num-
bers. What's more interesting is that
the difference between their ages
are also prime numbers. How old
are they?
? Remember to put your answer in the blue
box outside the maths staffroom for your
chance to win a $5 canteen voucher!
The answer to last week's riddle was 47 and
the winner of that $5 canteen voucher will be
announced in assembly on Monday.
We ask that our school community take the time to have the conversation together, at home, about
what Reconciliation means to us. Have a look at the National Reconciliation Week webpage and
explore the opportunities to reaffirm our commitment to reconciliation and strengthen our relation-
ships and communities.

A total of 14 Year 10 Woolgoolga High School students
attended the ‘Edge for Work’ online workshop held in the
school library last Monday. The one-day workshop
enabled students to investigate career/occupation options
and learn about grooming, deportment, and how to
become work-ready. The workshop helps address the gap
between student perceptions and the reality of employer
expectations. Students who complete the workshops are
better prepared to present themselves to further education
providers or local employers to secure work experience,
work placement and employment opportunities.
Careers
The workshop provided students with increased
confidence to be able to interact with potential employers
and gave them a better understanding of the skills
required to obtain a job, and also helped to combat the
heightened levels of anxiety that can occur when students
are required to approach employers for work experience,
work placement opportunities and undertake job
interviews.
The workshop formed part of Pilot 7 (Giving Students the
Edge for Work) of the NSW Department of Education
Educational Pathways Pilot Program (EPPP) running at
Woolgoolga High School, which is aimed at ensuring
young people become independent and leave school well
prepared for higher education, training or work.
The workshop included content on:
• Education – introduced students to employers who
discussed how they hire and what they look for in young
people seeking work
• Deportment – how to present themselves to a potential
employer
• Grooming – how to get ready for a job interview, includ-
ing practical advice on what clothing to wear and
presentation tips including hair and makeup

School Parents
As you are aware, Woolgoolga HS is part of the Educational Pathways Policy Pilot (EPPP) which involves
five school clusters across the state. The pilot program is aimed at ensuring our young people are
independent and leave school well prepared for higher education, training or work.
While our students are still in school, we want to strengthen the pathways between school, training and
employment.
The pilot has ten streams that focus on: enhanced careers advice, increasing the number of School-Based
Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATS), and supporting disadvantaged and disengaged young
students.
We would like to survey the parents of the school and gauge an understanding of aspects around career
education. The Parent Survey consists of 10 questions. To undertake the survey please select the link or

NSW Health is ensuring that students are safely
vaccinated at school during COVID-19
NSW Health has been working with education authorities to implement additional measures to ensure that students in
Year 7 and 10 can be safely vaccinated during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Program background
In 2020 NSW Health is offering the following vaccines:
While the school vaccination program has been disrupted due to low student attendance, students are progres-
sively returning to school over the coming months.
Additional measures
NSW Health has implemented additional measures based on expert clinical advice to reduce the likelihood of COVID-19
transmission in school clinics, including:
• health screening of nurses before clinics
• pre-vaccination screening of students
• physical distancing restrictions at the clinic entrance & observation area
• ensuring the number of students and nurses at the clinic does not exceed the maximum allowed
• enhanced hand hygiene by nurses and students
• enhanced environmental cleaning of all surfaces
What parents/guardians should do
Parents/guardians should ensure that students with influenza-like symptoms do not attend school and are tested as
soon as possible (www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/symptoms-and- testing). There is no need for parents/guardians who have
given consent for their child to receive vaccinations at school to take any action. Parents/guardians who have not provid-
ed consent can contact their local public health unit on 1300 066 055 or their school for advice on how to provide con-
sent for vaccination.
When students will be vaccinated
Public health units are arranging clinics with schools so that vaccinations can be given to students as soon as possible.
