LETHAL WARNING This manual has been prepared generally in accordance with tl'1e Air Transport List of Chapters Association of America, Specification No.1 00 (ATA 1 00) to Revision 21 Standard.
Revisions to this manual will be prepared to whichever revision standard of ATA100 is effective at the time, where this is practicable.
Where necessary, information is included to comply with British Civil Airworthiness Requirements.

3. Content
The purpose of this manual is to illustrate all aircraft electrical circuits in the form of wiring and (in some cases) schematic diagrams, lists and charts, which, when used in conjunction with the aircraft Maintenance Manual, enable the trouble shooting ., and servicing of the electrical circuits during maintenance. To this end, the Section/ Chapter numbering system corresponds to that of the Maintenance Manual.

4. Method of using the manual
A. Chapterization
Chapters are allocated in accordance with ATA 100 and are listed in LIST OF CHAPTERS following this introduction.
B. Page numbering

Pages are numbered consecutively within each subject. Blocks of page numbers are allocated for different subjects as follows:-

Wiring diagrams Schematic diagrams
The equipment lists provide a means of identifying items of equipment which appear on wiring diagrams. The components are listed under the circuit breakdown number in which they are employed and each item is referenced by a number corresponding to that which appears adjacent to the item on the appropriate wiring diagram. The list also indicates the description, maker, and the number off each item used. Circuit breakers and terminal blocks are not listed.
D. Equipment identification
The various items of electrical and radio equipment are identified by a system of letters and numbers which are marked on the cables to facilitate interconnection.
The numbers and letters are allocated as follows:-
( 1) Panels
Panels are identified according to the function of the equipment thereon. Thus all fascia or control panels are identified P, contactor panels C, and

distribution panels D. To distinguish between panels in the same category the identification letter is prefixed by a number.
Wherever possible the numbers are chosen so that the odd numbers indicate left hand panels and even numbers right.
(2) Circuit breakers
The circuit breakers which control and protect the supplies to the various systems are mounted on the five distribution panels 1 D, 30, 30, 50 and 60 and are numbered consecutively throughout the aircraft.
(3) Terminal blocks
The terminal blocks whether panel-mounted or attached to the aircraft structure are numbered consecutively. The numbers are prefixed TB when used for general services and RTB when used for radio circuits. Terminal block identification is shown on plastic tags secured by one of the fixing bolts.
(4) Panel-mounted equipment
Each item of panel-mounted equipment (other than circuit breakers or terminal blocks) is identified by a letter, or letters depending on the number of items on the panel (see fig.1 ). The letters are applied with Dymo·tape to the panels adjacent to the equipment. Each item is identified by the panel reference follow· ed by its identification letter or letters.
(5) Isolated equipment
Each item of isolated equipment is marked by Dymo·tape with the circuit code suffixed by a number which corresponds with the item number in the equipment list for that circuit.
Where a system has more than one identical component the c1rcuit code letters for each are prefixed by a number to distinguish between the components. Where possible, these numbers are chosen so the the odd numbers indicate components on the left and even numbers components on the right. Thus two items identified 1 PA37 and 2PA37 will both be item 37 in the equipment list for the circuit having the code PA the No. 1 item being located on the left and the No. 2 on the right.
In interests of power plant interchangeability identical engine-mounted components are given the same identifications without prefix numbers.
(6) Plugs and sockets
Effectivity : All
Plugs and sockets on larger component> are identified by the manufacturer.
Isolated plugs and sockets are positioned to provide wiring breaks which facilitate installation operations and are identified to indicate their positions. The plug and socket breaks between the fuselage and the inner wings are identified FB and those between the inner and outer wings WB the suffix L or R being added to indicate a left or right position.

Engine firewall breaks are marked FW, those on the firewall between the engine and the wing are suffixed from 1 to 4 and 13 each side and are further suffixed Land R for left and right engines respectively. The firewall plugs and sockets within the engine are marked FW followed by a number, identical in both engines.
(7) Cable assemblies
(a) Cable identification
The relevant identification information is stamped along the length of each cable.
In general each individual cable bears all the necessary information relevant to that cable i.e. origin, circuit code and destination (refer to figure 1 as a typical cable assembly for that diagram).
A cable bearing the ident 1 P·EE·A MH MH5·1 indicates that the cable is from pin A on a unit idented EE on panel 1 P, is terminated at terminal 1 on a remotely mounted unit MH5 and is associated with a circuit bearing a code MH.
Should any ident exceed the maximum number capable of being printed on a particular cable, reduction may have been made as follows:-

In both the latter cases the circuit code is dropped as the 'MH' of remote unit MH5 designates the associated circuit.
To illustrate a much more extreme example, a cable connected to a unit idented BB, on panel 1 P, at pin j on the unit connector and routed to a radio terminal block RTB8 at terminal 9, should ideally be stamped 1 P-88-j RNA RTB8-9. This involves seventeen characters (more than the Kingsley marker system capacity).
A printed ident sleeve, bearing '1 P-BB' would be placed over all the cables from unit BB electrical connector, adjacent to the loom origin and the following printed on the cable:- j RNA RTB8-9 which reduces the number of required printed characters.
Other cables are installed in the aircraft which are unsuitable for Kingsley marking e.g. co-axial antenna feeders, and these are marked with rubber idented sleeves.

Segregation may be readily determined by reference to the associated schematic and wiring diagrams.
(8) Cable links
Adjoining terminals on terminal blocks are 'commoned' by solid copper links. Other terminals on the same block or plug are connected together by cable links. On each cable link a yellow marker, located at the middle, carries the terminal block or plug identification as appropriate; a white marker sleeve at each end of the link carrying the terminal or pin identification.
(9) Butt connectors
Butt (in-line crimped) connectors are used throughout the aircraft for various applications e.g. to change from one type, or size, of cable to another or to connect an item of equipment with flying leads into a circuit. Those butt connectors near the ends of cables are unmarked but those more remote are numbered and prefixed BC. These markings appear on a yellow sleeve at each end of the butt connector.
E. Wiring diagrams
The wiring diagrams are in the form of routeing charts and each is numbered to agree with the corresponding system number in the maintenance manual.
The routeing chart format (fig.1) consists of vertical columns headed with the titles of main aircraft areas e.g. flight compartment, front fuselage, wings etc.. These columns are sub-divided to show the panels and portions of the aircraft on which the various items of equipment are mounted. Other columns are used to show plug/ socket and firewall breaks.

F. Use of routeing charts
Any wire on the aircraft can be traced to its remote destination by first noting the terminal and circuit code sleeves (fig. 2), and then the destina-tion marker, which may be a few inches away. This last mentioned will identify the remote item of equipment to which the cable is connected. With this information available, it is only necessary to refer to the wiring diagram having the appropriate circuit code to determine the terminal to which the wire is connected at the remote end.
G. Schematic diagrams
These diagrams provide more detailed information in those cases where the circuits are too complicated for their operation to be obvious from their wiring diagrams.
5. Effectivity
A Contents/Aircraft Effectivity Chart is located at the beginning of each chapter, to enable the reader to establish whether the chapter is complete and has the appropriate issue of all pages. The left sides of the chart contains the Chapter Number and Title, and all the circuits of that chapter, complete with circuit code, ATA Ref, Figure and Page Number. The right side of the chart contains a number of columns, one for each aircraft of the fleet, in which the issue date of each page is quoted. The page dates relative to the first aircraft of the fleet are recorded in the leftmost column and subsequent aircraft are added, left to right, in order of aircraft delivery. Thus, when aircraft have a wiring difference, the chart shows more than one date against the particular page and the chapter contains all the pages listed.

6. Revisions
Two types of revision will printed on yellow stock.
A. Normal

Revisions will be made to this manual when necessary and manual holders will receive copies without request under the terms of agreement between Shorts and the manual holder. Each revision will contain a revised Contents/Aircraft Effectivity Chart for each chapter affected and a copy of each revised page referred to therein. Each revision will be covered by a LETTER OF TRANS-MITTAL which advises the holder what pages are to be removed and inserted. New or revised material will be indicated by a vertical line in the left hand margin, except when a section or chapter is re-issued in a completely revised form. A RECORD OF REVISIONS card is provided at the front of the Manual. As a means of avoiding a separate 'customer' revision system a revisiop affecting some aircraft only will be issued as a normal revision. In this instance a 'dummy' revision will be issued to holders whose books are unaffected and they will be asked to mark up the RECORD SHEET even though no change has been made to the content of their manual.
B. Temporary
Temporary revisions will be issued to notify operators, at the earliest opportunity, of important changes affecting safety and performance. A RECORD OF TEMP-ORARY REVISIONS card is provided at the front of the manual. The recording procedure is similar to that for normal revisions.
After the incorporation of a revision it is important for the operator to check the issue and date on each page of effected chapters against the Contents/Aircraft Effect-ivity Charts, the only documents to be used for checking the manual for correct contents.
7. Aircraft Modifications
To ensure that the information in this manual is compatible with the modification state of the aircraft, no information relating to Modifications issued after delivery of the aircraft will be incorporated retrospectively into this manual without the written assurance of the operator that he intends to embody a particular Modification. The only exceptions will be CAA Mandatory Modifications in which case the Manual will be revised according to the requirements of the Mandatory Modifications.

1. SOME VOLTAGES USED ON THIS AIRCRAFT CAN BE DANGEROUS UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES. PERSONNEL SHOULD THEREFORE ENSURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS ELECTRICALLY SAFE BEFORE ANY SERVICING IS ATTEMPTED. WHERE IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT TESTS OR ADJUSTMENTS BE MADE WITH THE ELECTRICAL POWER SWITCHED ON, THE GREATEST CARE MUST BE EXERCISED.
HIGH ENERGY IGNITION UNITS
2. THE ENERGY STORED IN THE CAPACITORS OF THE HIGH ENERGY IGNITION UNITS CAN, UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES BE OF A LETHAL NATURE. NO SERVICING IS TO BE ATTEMPTED UNTIL AT LEAST SIX MINUTES HAVE ELAPSED FROM THE DISCONNECTION OF THE L.T. INPUT PLUG.
MICROWAVE RADIATION HAZARDS
3. THERE IS A MICROWAVE RADIATION HAZARD FROM CERTAIN EQUIPMENT IN THIS AIRCRAFT. TO AVOID INJURY TO HEALTH ALL PERSONNEL ARE TO KEEP CLEAR OF THE AREAS INDICATED WHEN WARNING NOTICES ARE DISPLAYED
