this district pumps in the heart of

Crescentwood. It’s a great area to

get out and enjoy.

Life on Corydon Avenue is

always hopping. Traffi c is slow

as much because of the people

watchers cruising past as for the

pedestrians themselves. People

like to live on Corydon for the love

of Little Italy, for the availability

of artsy services and trendy

restaurants and for the proximity

to downtown.

Corydon Avenue is lit with long

strings of lights like a marina or

market in Italy. Proudly connected

to community and known for

pasta or pizza, it is also home

to stacks of sushi places, cute

boutiques and trendy nail and hair

services. Business people make it

a standard stop for coff ee during

the day and skateboarders or

motorcyclists ride by after hours.

The crowd on Corydon love

their lattes and gelati which can

be found on almost every corner.

Residents and business people

might pay a little more for a high

end treat, but there’s also lots of

competition and a great selection

of treats and eats for every craving

and fl avour.

Although Corydon Avenue

is adjacent to some main

thoroughfares going downtown

and to the airport, it is congested.

Driving is popular, but there is a

preference for commuters to walk,

bus or cycle to work. Visitors and

restaurant enthusiasts often stroll

down the Avenue on foot faster

than motorized vehicles.

The amount of household debt

Canadians have accumulated

seems to be making daily news

lately. Reports that the average

Canadian household now owes

$1.64 for every dollar of income

means it may be time to reevaluate

our budget strategies.

If you real estate strategy does not

take into consideration the fact that

interest rates will eventually begin to

rise and your debt load may increase

a lot faster than your income, you’re

could be in for a bumpy ride.

A good fi nancial advisor can

help you fi gure out solid a budget

strategy, including how much you

spend on housing. While money may

become even cheaper to borrow

in Canada, it should not encourage

you to invest or rent a home that

you simply cannot aff ord, should

conditions change. The fundamental

old-school practice is, save as

much as you can, avoid debt unless

absolutely necessary, and pay debt

off as fast as you can.
