Why Some OrganizaLon’s SharePoint Efforts Fail
1. Insufficient planning around the organization’s Business Requirements 2. Not planning for the future and developing solutions only for “The Present” 3. Not focusing on making SharePoint easy for the end users 4. Not implementing “quick win” and “wow the business” solutions to anchor the application (i.e. SharePoint) 5. Being terrified of the cloud and not embracing both a hybrid architecture model and a hybrid “cloud compatible” application development model 6. Not eradicating the bad memories of employees who have had poor past experiences with SharePoint and skimping on an attractive interface

You Do These 2 Things Successfully and You’re Golden
Provide a few SharePoint workflows to your end-users that will simplify two to three current manual business processes in your organization
1.
Implement an easy to use Business Intelligence platform that will help your Executives understand their numbers (i.e. $$)
2.

Why Some Workflow IniLaLves Fail to Launch
Key Areas That Cause Workflow & BPM Initiatives to Stumble: 1. Developer(s) that do not embrace future compatibility and continue to
develop in their own bubble 2. I.T. team members who do not embracing the needs of the business and
focus on overly complicated solutions for simple problems 3. I.T. team members and/or developer(s) who are convinced that their
“on-premise and non-cloud compatible solution” is the only way data can be protected
4. “Scalability Assumptions” caused by the lack of involving other I.T. team members and departments in an attempt to gain a true understanding of the organizations I.T. roadmap as well as the businesses roadmap
5. Not considering the testing of 3rd party solutions and having a strictly “build” vs. possibly “buy” mentality
6. Not implementing workflow solutions that empower “Information Worker”

Areas That Cause I.T. Management Headaches
1. Developer(s) that do not embrace future compatibility and continue to develop in their own bubble
2. I.T. team members who do not embracing the needs of the business and focus on overly complicated solutions for simple problems
3. I.T. team members and/or developer(s) who are convinced that their “on-premise only” and non-cloud compatible solution is the only way data can truly be protected
4. “Scalability Assumptions” caused by the lack of involving other I.T. team members and departments in an attempt to gain a true understanding of the organization’s I.T. roadmap as well as it’s businesses roadmap
You must plan for the future and that means implementing forward-compatible solutions for SharePoint 2016 and Office 365

SharePoint 2016: What is Coming!
• SharePoint 2016 will support files up to 10 GB (Configurable per Web App) • SharePoint 2016 will now support many special characters • SharePoint Designer 2013 and InfoPath 2013 will not ship with SharePoint
2016 (Office 2016) but there are forward compatible capabilities • Note: I would strongly advise against installing SharePoint Designer
2013 or InfoPath 2013 with SharePoint 2016
• Say goodbye to the single-server installation as that will no longer be supported with SharePoint 2016 (2 Server Minimum)
• There is a new “Durable Links” feature to ensure link no longer break when a file is moved
• SharePoint 2016 will now allow you to restricting access from specific IP addresses from within SharePoint without having to configure this in IIS
Underwri(en by: Presented by:
SharePoint 2016: What is Coming!
• The new SharePoint 2016 “cloud hybrid search service” allows you to consolidate both your SharePoint 2016 on-premise and Office 365 search indexes in the cloud for a centralized and seamless search experience. • Note: Microsoft has released this early and you can take advantage of
this now with your current SharePoint 2013 and Office 365 platforms • The new “cloud hybrid search service” supports an Office Graph / Delve
experience on-premises • Compliance has vastly improved in SharePoint 2016 with out-of-the-box
Data Loss Prevention (DLP) capabilities. For example, it has built-in reporting capabilities to identity PII data as well as other sensitive data
• SharePoint 2016 will have the “App Launcher” similar to that of Office 365 • You can now enforce a “MiniRole” on a specific server to ensure that, for
example, a “Search Server” or “Front-end Server” does their specific job
Underwri(en by: Presented by:
SharePoint 2016: What is Coming!
• SharePoint 2016 no longer comes with Excel Services as that will now be part of Office Online Server (on-prem) that supports Office Web Apps • Note: This is fully compatible with Office 365 in a hybrid configuration
• SharePoint 2016 does not utilize ForeFront Identity Manager (FIM). SharePoint 2016 now imports users via Active Directory Import or optionally Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) 2016. • Note: Active Directory Import offers a performance gain for one-way
imports of user profile information from AD. • SharePoint Foundation 2013 will be “Foundation’s final version.”
SharePoint 2016 will not be offered via SharePoint Foundation. • If your SharePoint 2013 platform uses BCS for importing user profiles from
Active Directory and synchronizes them, for example, with SAP, you need to start to rethink your architecture

SharePoint 2016: What is Coming!
• Analytics are vastly improved in SharePoint 2016 that will finally provide business users with the statistics they have been craving right out-of-the-box from the previous versions of SharePoint
• The new eDiscovery Center and its compliance capabilities come with a “Document Deletion Policy Center”
• 100,000 Site Collections per Content Database • Content Databases can grow into Terabytes • SharePoint 2016 will support both the Resilient File System (ReFS) as well
as continue to support NTFS. • SharePoint 2016 allows for zero down time patching as they have decoupled
the front-end and back-end “patching connections” • Microsoft Project 2016 installs as part of SharePoint 2016 (*keys required)
Underwri(en by: Presented by:
SharePoint 2016: What is Coming!
• The “Ribbon” is no longer required to perform frequent actions such as those performed in document libraries
• There are new video improvements that allow you to hover over a video and it will auto-play \ auto-preview
• SharePoint 2016 will allow “external Site Publishing” to Office 365 \ SharePoint Online for improve “hybrid site provisioning”
• Delve and SharePoint’s Search can now be configured to be integrated into one seamless experience and can include content from both onsite and the cloud (i.e. Office 365 | SharePoint Online)
• Built-in, out-of-the-box support and monitoring tools • Vastly improved Information Rights Management (IRM) with encryption • Equally impressive ECM improvements for Content \ Records Management
