Reverse secretion = renal portal system

Opisthonephros: adult fishes & amphibians; embryonic only in birds and

Sex cords

Males round out to form seminiferous tubules

Females remain solid fuse with cortex

Support cells arise from mesenchyme

Male:

Seminiferous tubules grow out to join mesonephric duct

Mesonephric duct becomes coiled at this point to form epididymus

Remainder of mesonephric duct remain regular as the vas deferens
