1.1 About Turtle Dialer

Turtle Dialer is a Google Chrome extension that allows you to dial a phone number on your IP phone directly fromGoogle Chrome.

1.1.1 Main features

Dial from selection

Turtle Dialer allows you to dial a phone number from a web page, by simply selecting it and choosing the item “Dialxxxxxxx” from the browser’s context menu.

Phonebook

Turtle Dialer adds a button to your browser that displays a pop-up with a phonebook that contains both phone contactsand Gmail contacts. You can quickly dial the phone number you wish by just clicking on the number.

Call log

Turtle Dialer in its pop-up window displays the log of dialed, received and missed calls. You can easily return a callby clicking on the number.

Note: Some features may be different or not be present depending on the brand/model of the phone.

1.2 Install

1.2.1 Install from the Chrome Web Store

Navigate to the Chrome Web Store with Google Chrome.

You’ll see this page:

Click on the + Free button to install it.

1.3 Configure

The configuration of Turtle Dialer is slightly different for each brand/model of IP phone. The phone has to be config-ured with a static IP address. Please refer to the phone’s user guide to configure a static IP address.

1.3.1 Yealink T20P

Note: Turtle Dialer has been fully tested with the 9.70.168.1 firmware’s version installed on the 7.0.1.62 hardware’sversion.

Phone configuration

First of all, you need to enable your phone to interact with Turtle Dialer. You have to enter to your phone’s webconsole. If the phone is configured by default, you have to enter the following url address in Chrome:

http://<phone_IP>/

where <phone_IP> is your phone’s IP address.

You have to enter your user account in order to access the web console.

Once logged in, navigate to Phone tab and choose Features from the menu just below the Phone tab.

Choose API Security and enter in the field Trusted Action URI Server List the value any if youwant to allow the remote control from any IP address or type the IP address of your computer where you have installedTurtle Dialer or a list of space-separated IP addresses. Please refer to the phone’s documentation for more informations.

Warning: When you dial a phone number for the first time with Turtle Dialer, on the phone’s display appears amessage asking you to authorize remote control. Press ok to authorize Turtle Dialer to dial numbers. Every timeyou change the value of the field Trusted Action URI Server List you have to reauthorize the remotecontrol.

Turtle Dialer configuration

To configure Turtle Dialer click on the hamburger icon and choose More tools -> Extensions:

Search Turtle Dialer and choose the Options hyperlink.

Choose the country where you live, select the corresponding checkbox if you want to include your Gmail contactsin the Turtle Dialer’s phonebook, choose Yealink T20P from the phone drop down menu, and fill the YealinkT20P API settings form with the configuration to access to the phone’s web console.

In the SIP account type the sip server address of the phone’s line you want to use.

Note: If you have choosen to include your Gmail contacts in the Turtle Dialer’s phonebook, you have to authorizeTurtle Dialer to access to your Gmail contacts. Chrome will open a popup window where you have to login andauthorize Turtle Dialer to access to your Gmail account.

1.3.2 Yealink T28P

Note: Turtle Dialer has been fully tested with the 2.72.168.2 firmware’s version installed on the 1.0.0.53 hardware’sversion.

Phone configuration

First of all, you need to enable your phone to interact with Turtle Dialer. You have to enter to your phone’s webconsole. If the phone is configured by default, you have to enter the following url address in Chrome:

http://<phone_IP>/

where <phone_IP> is your phone’s IP address.

You have to enter your user account in order to access the web console.

Once logged in, navigate to Features tab and choose Remote Control from the sidebar menu:

Enter in the field Action URI allow IP List the value any if you want to allow the remote control from anyIP address or type the IP address of your computer where you have installed Turtle Dialer or a list of space-separatedIP addresses. Please refer to the phone’s documentation for more informations.

Choose the country where you live, select the corresponding checkbox if you want to include your Gmail contactsin the Turtle Dialer’s phonebook, choose Yealink T28P from the phone drop down menu, and fill the YealinkT28P API settings form with the configuration to access to the phone’s web console.

Choose the SIP account you want to use from the drop down menu.

Note: If you have choosen to include your Gmail contacts in the Turtle Dialer’s phonebook, you have to authorizeTurtle Dialer to access to your Gmail contacts. Chrome will open a popup window where you have to login andauthorize Turtle Dialer to access to your Gmail account.

1.3.3 Grandstream GXP2120/GXP2110/GXP2100/GXP14xx

Note: Turtle Dialer has been fully tested on a Grandstream GXP1400 with the 1.0.7.4 firmware’s version.

Phone configuration

First of all, you need to enable your phone to interact with Turtle Dialer. You have to enter to your phone’s webconsole. If the phone is configured by default, you have to enter the following url address in Chrome:

http://<phone_IP>/

where <phone_IP> is your phone’s IP address.

You have to enter the admin user account’s password in order to access the web console.

Once logged in, choose Settings -> Call Features from the main menu bar.

1.4 Use Turtle Dialer

Turtle Dialer adds a button to the Chrome’s toolbar that allows open its main window.

1.4.1 Turtle Dialer main window

Phonebook

By clicking on the Turtle Dialer’s toolbar icon, you can access the phonebook:

To dial a contact’s phone number simply click on the corresponding hyperlink.

To hang up a call, click on the red icon.

To search for a contact you can use the text field on the top-right of the main window.

Dial by number

If you want to dial a specific number, insert it in the search field and click on the green icon to dial:

Call log

To view the call log, click on the Turtle Dialer’s toolbar icon and then on the Call log menu item:

To redial/return a call, you can click on the corresponding hyperlink.

Syncronize contacts

Turtle Dialer caches your contacts for a fast access. To keep Turtle Dialer in sync with your Gmail account and/oryour phone’s phonebook you can click on the sync button placed at the right of the hang up button.

1.4.2 Dial from selection

You can dial a number present on a web page. To do so, you have to select the number and click the mouse rightbutton. Once the context menu opens, choose the Dial to menu item.

1.4.3 Dial from the Chrome Omnibox

You can use the Chrome Omnibox to search for a contact to call or to dial a phone number.

To activate the Turtle Dialer Omnibox feature, type td and then the tab key in the Chrome Omnibox.

Once activated, type the name of the contact you want to call and, when it appears, select it and press the enter key.

If you want to dial a number, type the number, choose the option Call to and press enter.
