Romans 12:2

The negative command — Don’t allow the world’s system to squeeze you into it’s mold

The positive command — Do allow God to transform you by the renewing of your mind.

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and

desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.

Galatians 5:24

We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the

body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin. Now

if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him… So you also must consider

yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you

may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and

perfect. Romans 12:2

What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.” But sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all

kinds of covetousness. For apart from the law, sin lies dead. I was once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin came alive and I died. The very commandment that promised life

proved to be death to me. For sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, deceived

I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not ask that you take them

out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so

I have sent them into the world. John 17:14-18

For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose

to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and

detestable idolatry. They are surprised that you do not join them

in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you.

may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up

meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see
