The Arlington Foundation forExcellence in Education was
formed in 2004 by members of the Xi Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha
Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., to increase the commitment to the
Arlington community with educational and scholarship
opportunities.
DEBUTANTE SCHEDULE
May 5th - November 17, 2012
•May 5th – Debutante Registration
•May 26th – Late Debutante Registration
•June 9th – Mother / Daughter Tea
•June 23rd – October 6th – Workshops
•October 20th – Pearl Ceremony (Graduation)
•November 17th – Scholarship Ball
DEBUTANTE CRITERIA
•Must be a high school senior of the Class of 2013
•Must have a 2.5 cumulative grade point average. (Transcript or letter from counselor is acceptable).
•Must not be or become a mother during the debutante process.
•Must sell at least $1,500 in ads and/or tickets in order to be presented
•Participants are required to attend workshops, meetings and practices.
DEBUTANTE REQUIREMENTS
Participants must turn in the following items by
APPLICATION DEADLINE: MONDAY, APRIL 16,
2012
•Must turn in two letters of recommendation from individuals outside the family (High School Counselor, Church, or Civic Organization, etc.)
•Proof of grade point average – Transcript or letter from counselor
•Completed Debutante Application

DEBUTANTE MENTORING PROGRAM
The Debutante Mentoring Program is dedicated to providing support that will educate and motivate the young ladies during the debutante season. This program aims to plant seeds of social skills, nourished with etiquette and self-respect, in order to build our young ladies of today into confident, empowered women of tomorrow. Members of this elite group of mentors are women of the Xi Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., in Arlington, TX.

ETIQUETTE INSTRUCTOR
Lisa Thompson is the lead trainer and an Arlington resident who has taught protocol to high school and college-aged students for more than 25 years.
Since 1986, Lisa has been the educational trainer in the areas of college, career and etiquette (dining and social) for a number of organizations and events including the following: Grace United Methodist Church youth and adults, Step By Step Dance Studio, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Ambassador Program, Ambassadors of Fort Worth Debutante Process, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority- Xi Theta Omega Chapter ACOLTYES, and Arlington Foundation for Excellence in Education Debutante Process.
OFFICIAL DEBUTANTE SYLTIST
Mullykar Samrith is the founder and CEO of RUPC, a fashion styling company that helps people with their everyday wardrobe and specializes in special occasion attire. She works with men and women of all ages and sizes in choosing pieces that work best with their lifestyle and body type.
Mullykar has represented clothing lines in urban street-wear, such as Apple Bottoms, Ed Hardy, Christian Audigier, Artful Dodger, and more. While at MAGIC, she has worked with celebrities such as Nelly, Mos Def, Jay-Z, Christian Audigier, and many others.

CHOREOGRAPHY
Lisa Thompson is the lead choreographer and an Arlington resident with more than 20 years experience. She teaches social and cultural dance as director of Step By Step Studio of Arlington. She has been an academic advisor at SMU and assessment coordinator for the UT Arlington. Lisa is currently the Director of the TRIO Pre-College Programs at UT Arlington.
For more than 10 years, Lisa Thompson has been introducing ballroom dance and behavior as the choreographer of the Arlington Foundation for Excellence in Education Debutante Ball. Lisa Thompson is a proud member of the Xi Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

DEBUTANTE BOOK AWARDS
To be considered for a $500 Book Award,
Debutantes must turn in at least $2,000.00 in
advertisements/patrons/ticket sales.
Debutante 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place winners are ineligible to receive a book award.

PERFECT ATTENDANCE AWARD - Gift Card
Each Debutante who attends all of the seminars, meetings, and practices will receive special recognition.
HIGHEST GPA AWARD - Gift Card
The Debutante with the highest overall cumulative GPA for the six-week period ending immediately preceding October 24, 2011 will receive special recognition.
TOP FUNDRAISER AWARD – Laptop Computer
The Debutante who raises the most amount of funds throughout the competition.
SPECIAL DEBUTANTE AWARDS
COMMUNITY LEADER OF SERVICE AWARD- Amazon Kindle
The Debutante who volunteers the most community service hours throughout the competition.
MISS CONGENIALITY - Gift Card
The Debutante voted by her peers as most congenial will be presented with a trophy. Voting will occur on October 19, 2011.
BEST SCRAPBOOK AWARD - Gift Card
The Debutante with the best scrapbook that covers the events of the Debutante process from May 5, 2012 to October, 2012, will receive special recognition.
