• The Plano Symphony Orchestra has been serving the community for 30 years, and is a premiere orchestra in the region.

• It is the mission of our orchestra to inspire, educate, entertain and involve the children, you and adults of our community in the enjoyment of great music.

• The symphony educates children and families in Collin County through the concert education program that reaches more than 8,000 students in Plano, Frisco, Celina, Lewisville and many other school districts.

• The money raised by the Debutante Program goes directly to the symphony to help continue great concerts and the school education program - along with many others - in our community.h

jThe Debutante Program is an education program designed to enhance the social, cultural and volunteer skills of young women in high school.

Debutante candidates are selected in their sophomore year in high school and are presented at a formal Debutatne Presentation Ball in the fall of their senior year.

The Plano Symphony Orchestra Debutante Program welcomes young women who are interested in participating in cultural, educational and social events. Our debutante candidates attend concerts, educational sessions, fashion events and social parties.

Since 2003, past debutantes have demonstrated leadership abilities, and excel in academic and/or athletic achievements. They also support their community through their volunteer efforts.

Our young debutante candidates have the opportunity to learn social graces, such as concert, dining, and writing etiquette, as well as a session to learn grace and poise while walking, entering a car, and other important social skills.

The agenda is filled with dynamic activities such as sessions on diet/nutrition, personal safety, money management and auto safety. The debutante program is designed to prepare the young women for college and beyond.

All debutante candidates are required to volunteer a minimum of three hours. Most volunteer opportunites consist of assisting at concerts, other art-related cultural events, and fund-raising events.

There are several social parties throughout the year where debutantes, honor guards and parents get to know each other and have fun. Bow lessons, dance lessons with dad, and honor guard escorts round out a fun-filled program.

TIME FOR FUN, TOO!

Highlighthof the year

The culmination of the program is the black-tie Plano Symphony Debutante Presentation Ball, the social event of the year! Each debutante, gloriously dressed in an elegant white gown, is presented by her father, makes her full-court bow, and is then escorted down the runway by a Plano Symphony Honor Guard.

The evening continues with a beautiful Debutante Grand March with fathers, leading into the father/daughter waltz.
