LITURGY CORNER The Narrow Gate As you read today’s gospel, you get the idea that Jesus is teaching that it is hard to be saved and that it is easy to be lost. That narrow gate in Luke’s gospel represents salvation because the man asked the question, “Will there be few who will be saved?” Je‐sus response was, “Make sure that you go through that narrow gate.” Why is the gate to salvation narrow? Is it be‐cause it’s difficult? Maybe, but per‐haps it is because you can’t take any baggage with you. What are we cling‐ing to that would cause us to exceed our limits and miss the entrance to heaven?

The program teaches spiritual practices that enrich both hearts & minds. If you are interested in possibly joining the next group starting this fall, an Information gathering is set for September 10th at 10:00 AM in the St. Joseph Parish Center. For more information please contact Anne Marie at 995-9409.
The 2nd collection for the weekend of Aug. 27 - 28 will be for the School Annual Fund. The primary purpose of the Annual Fund is to raise unrestricted funds to further support spiritual guidance and ac-ademic achievement and innova-tion for our children.

Dear Parishioners, As a parent or guardian, you have many options in selecting an educational opportunity for your child. It is indeed one of the most important choices one can make for one’s child’s future. In choosing a Catholic school – St. Philip Neri; you are providing your child with the spiritual and de‐velopmental skills they will need to build a bright academic future. Yes, Catholic schools are different. The experience is designed to be transformational, to make a difference in the life of every student. From Day 1 at a Catholic school, every child learns in a disciplined envi‐ronment...one that respects every individual...one that seeks to promote selflessness, self‐control, the pursuit of justice and faith in action. St. Philip Neri school welcomes students of all backgrounds and faiths to experience the comprehensive education of mind, heart, and spirit; Respectful, Responsible, Reverent and Life-Long learners. “Our generation will show that it can rise to the promise found in each young person when we know how to give them space: this means that we have to create the material and spiritual conditions for their full development; to give them a solid basis on which to build their lives; to guarantee their safety and their education to be everything they can be.” – Pope Francis. We, the Faith Community of St. Philip Neri – St. Albert the Great together with St. Philip Neri School community try to create the material and spiritual conditions for the full develop‐ment of every student in our school. The parish and school community co‐exist to support the liv‐ing and genuine witness of the faith. It is my wish and prayer that this new school year in a student’s life will open up the possi‐bilities and potential to becoming Respectful, Responsible, Reverent and Life-Long learners.
Wishing you God’s abundance and peace,
Fr. Robert K Chinnapan
