Project Overview And Existing System

Project Definition WEB BASED ONLINE SHOPPING

This is a small scale project for E-commerce website. The basic idea is that customers can buy products using online. It consists of product details, security system, status and exits.

The administrator can enter the name and password and generate the report and can perform operations like add, search, delete the products in the database.

Our E-commerce website will use the internet as the sole method for selling goods to its consumers.

Shopping will be highly personalized and the website will provide lower prices than most competitors.

The basic idea is that the candidates can buy product from anywhere during any time.

CUSTOMER ROLE:

The customers can login/logout the website. She/he can view his/her product details and buy their product.

The customer can just view the information whereas he/she could not make changes in the database.

ADMINISTRATOR ROLE:

The administrator plays a vital role in our website.

The administrator controls the entire database.

The report of the product is generated by the administrator itself. The main role of the administrator is to safeguard the database and can add/delete the products from the database.

Overview of Existing System:-

here we are selling thing online by an E-commerce website.

So for an example we can imagine a seller who sells thing in a store.

One must sell things on physical location.so he/she can’t handle many customers at time.

It’s hard to manage all products in a store. Also hard to manage inventory.

Existing system

Page 7: Sample Presentation PPT File 75

Limitation of Existing System:-

One must require knowledge of computer and how to use internet.

Cost of the marketing of the product which are he is selling.

He cannot make global market of his product. Means he can just sell his product in limited physical location of his store.

It’s hard to find costumers.

One have to manage each and every product remember where it is stored. It’s price and other detail of a product.

Can’t make global market for its products.

One must manage theirs shop inventory manually it’s such long and time consuming process.

Scope of System Modules:

The modules used in this software are as follows: Login:

The ADMIN has all the rights in the software including updating the status of his site.

The other fields in login are username and password. If the username and password are correct then it is directed to next page.

New user:

Here user is allowed to create an account to login. The account creation is done by filling the registration form with user details such as name, phone, email etc.

Project scope

Page 9: Sample Presentation PPT File 75

Product:

The ADMIN has the authority to Add, Delete, Update etc. The USER can only view the Mobile, add to cart only those in the stock etc.

Cart:

User can select any number of Items and add to the cart. He can also remove from the cart if he dislikes it later.

Payment:

This module describes the payment done by the customer. The payment information can include information like the model purchased. Quantity, mode of payment (cash, loan) etc.

Stocks:

This gives the details regarding the products available for sale.

Feasibility study of the system is a very important stage during system design.

Feasibility study is a test of a system proposal according to its workability impact on the organization, ability to meet user needs, and effective use of resources.

Feasibility study decides whether the system is properly developed or not.

Following aspects are taken into account during feasibility study..

Economic Feasibility:

Implementation of this web-site will be a lifetime investment, which will ensure returns to the store of good services & market value throughout the future.

Feasibility Study

Page 11: Sample Presentation PPT File 75

Technical Feasibility:

It is an evaluation of the hardware and software and how it meets the need of the proposed system The Technical Feasibility assessment is focused on gaining an understanding of the present technical resources.

Operational Feasibility:

The web-site is easy to learn and it will require a very short time to learn the operation of the web-site for a person having knowledge about computer.

As the web-site is made up in windows base environment so the graphical user interface made the web-site very user friendly and easy to operate.

Overview of Proposed System

This system provides an easy to solution customer’s to buy the product without go to the shop and also shop owner to sale the product..

The system work on internet server, so it will operated by any end user for the buying purpose. Functional Requirement:

This section provides requirement overview of the system. Various functional modules that can be implemented by the system Registration

If customer wants to buy the product then he/she must be registered, unregistered user can’t go to the shopping cart.

System Requirement Specification

Page 14: Sample Presentation PPT File 75

Customer logins to the system by entering valid user id and password for the shopping. Changes to Cart

Changes to cart means the customer after login or registration can make order or cancel order of the product from the shopping cart. Payment

For customer there are many type of secure billing will be prepaid as debit or credit card, postpaid as after shipping, check or bank draft. The security will provide by the third party like Pay-Pal etc. Logout

After the payment or surf the product the customer will logged Out.

Page 15: Sample Presentation PPT File 75

Report Generation

After all transaction the system can generate the portable document file (.pdf) and then sent one copy to the customer’s Email-address and another one for the system data base to calculate the monthly transaction .

Technical Issues

This system will work on client-server architecture. It will require an internet server and which will be able to run PHP application. The system should support some commonly used browser such as IE etc.

.

Page 16: Sample Presentation PPT File 75

Other non-Functional requirement: SecurityThe system use SSL (secured socket layer) in all transactions that include any confidential customer information. The system must automatically log out all customers after a period of inactivity. The system should not leave any cookies on the customer’s computer containing the user’s password.Sensitive data will be encrypted before being sent over insecure connections like the internet. Reliability The system provides storage of all databases on redundant computers with automatic switchover. The reliability of the overall program depends on the reliability of the separate components. The main pillar of reliability of the system is the backup of the database which is continuously maintained and updated to reflect the most recent changes

Page 17: Sample Presentation PPT File 75

Availability

The system should be available at all times, meaning the user can access it using a web browser, only restricted by the down time of the server on which the system runs.

n case of a of a hardware failure or database corruption, a replacement page will be shown. Also in case of a hardware failure or database corruption, backups of the database should be retrieved from the server and saved by the administrator. Then the service will be restarted. It means 24 X 7 availability.

Maintainability

A commercial database is used for maintaining the database and the application server takes care of the site.

Page 18: Sample Presentation PPT File 75

In case of a failure, a re-initialization of the program will be done.

the software design is being done with modularity in mind so that maintainability can be done efficiently.

Portability

The application is HTML and scripting language based.

So the end-user part is fully portable and any system using any web browser should be able to use the features of the system, including any hardware platform that is available or will be available in the future.

An end-user is use this system on any OS; either it is Windows or Linux.
